0:00:02 > 0:00:05It's been a week of settled, summerlike weather for most of us,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07with little significant rainfall yet again across the country.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09The reason being the position

0:00:09 > 0:00:11of the Jet Stream, which is sat out

0:00:11 > 0:00:13in the Atlantic, a defined kink,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15drifting or deflecting low pressures

0:00:15 > 0:00:16up into the north-west

0:00:16 > 0:00:18and that's where we've seen

0:00:18 > 0:00:19some outbreaks of drizzly rain.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21As we move into the weekend,

0:00:21 > 0:00:22the Jet Stream evens out a little.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24We'll see the weather improving

0:00:24 > 0:00:26a touch for central and southern Scotland,

0:00:26 > 0:00:29high pressure certainly the main headline story

0:00:29 > 0:00:30for the weather.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33That's going to drag up this very hot air

0:00:33 > 0:00:34from the Azores.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35We're likely to see temperatures

0:00:35 > 0:00:37across parts of Iberia

0:00:37 > 0:00:38peaking in the mid-40s

0:00:38 > 0:00:39over the weekend.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41That means, potentially,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43the mid-30s across France and that means,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45for central and southern parts of England and Wales,

0:00:45 > 0:00:48we could see high 20s - maybe, in some spots,

0:00:48 > 0:00:51in excess of 30 degrees plus.

0:00:51 > 0:00:52We start off on Saturday, then,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55hardly a cloud in the sky across England and Wales.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Again, that south-westerly breeze

0:00:57 > 0:00:59driving in moisture, drizzly rain

0:00:59 > 0:01:00to the north-west of the Great Glen

0:01:00 > 0:01:02and some misty conditions here.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Temperatures a little more disappointing,

0:01:04 > 0:01:06but we could see high 20s, possibly,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09across much of the south-east.

0:01:09 > 0:01:10The high stays with us.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12It's going to be a pretty humid night,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Saturday into Sunday morning.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16Still that weather front up into the north-west,

0:01:16 > 0:01:19and we could see some misty, murky conditions

0:01:19 > 0:01:20along west-facing coasts

0:01:20 > 0:01:22first thing on Sunday morning.

0:01:22 > 0:01:23It's going to be a pretty sticky night,

0:01:23 > 0:01:26difficult for trying to get a good night's sleep,

0:01:26 > 0:01:2711 to 18 degrees, the lows.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Again, those temperatures will plummet up

0:01:30 > 0:01:31as we go through the day,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33particularly with plenty of sunshine

0:01:33 > 0:01:36and little in the way of fair-weather cloud.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39Dragging in that drizzle up into the north-west,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41poor visibility along the coast here.

0:01:41 > 0:01:4214 or 15 degrees,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44but into eastern Scotland,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46we'll start to see some warmth coming through,

0:01:46 > 0:01:47low 20s, possibly 30 degrees

0:01:47 > 0:01:50likely in the south-east corner.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52As we move out of Sunday into Monday,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54some subtle variations - this weather front

0:01:54 > 0:01:56will slowly start to drift its way

0:01:56 > 0:01:57back south again,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59so that's going to introduce more

0:01:59 > 0:02:00in the way of cloud across Scotland

0:02:00 > 0:02:02and Northern Ireland, some showery outbreaks

0:02:02 > 0:02:04of rain, potentially, as well.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06We still keep the heat across England and Wales.

0:02:06 > 0:02:07Just a slim chance, maybe,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10of seeing an isolated thunderstorm crop up,

0:02:10 > 0:02:11but with the sunshine,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13we keep the heat, 30 degrees.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15The fresher conditions starting to creep

0:02:15 > 0:02:17a little bit further south,

0:02:17 > 0:02:19and that'll be the story as we move out

0:02:19 > 0:02:20of Monday into Tuesday.

0:02:20 > 0:02:21That front sinks south.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23A weak affair, but it's a cold front.

0:02:23 > 0:02:24It's going to introduce fresher air

0:02:24 > 0:02:27across the country, particularly running in

0:02:27 > 0:02:29off the North Sea, with more cloud here,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31and so across those east coasts,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33temperatures will drop a few degrees.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35But we still keep the heat down to the south,

0:02:35 > 0:02:36fresher to the north.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39As we move out of Tuesday into Wednesday,

0:02:39 > 0:02:41low pressure starts to push in from the Atlantic,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43so there's potential on Wednesday

0:02:43 > 0:02:46of seeing, maybe, more of a significant breakdown,

0:02:46 > 0:02:48with some thundery detail.

0:02:48 > 0:02:49So moving into Northern Ireland

0:02:49 > 0:02:51and into west-facing coasts

0:02:51 > 0:02:54by the end of the day on Wednesday.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55Here, 13 to 18 degrees.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57A little bit fresher, as well, further south,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59mid 20s possible.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01Further ahead, the six- to ten-day period,

0:03:01 > 0:03:03into next weekend, it looks likely

0:03:03 > 0:03:05that the high pressure may drift off

0:03:05 > 0:03:06into the near continent,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08allowing to open the door

0:03:08 > 0:03:10for low pressures to move in from the Atlantic.

0:03:10 > 0:03:11A lot of uncertainty on this,

0:03:11 > 0:03:12but if that happens,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15we could see more significant rainfall,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17some thunderstorms developing from the west.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19So it looks likely that things may well turn

0:03:19 > 0:03:21a little more unsettled,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23the risk of some sharp, thundery showers

0:03:23 > 0:03:26and certainly it will turn noticeably fresher.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29That's a long way off. Enjoy your weekend, bye-bye.
