0:00:01 > 0:00:05Hello. While some people will be enjoying the cooler, fresher feel to

0:00:05 > 0:00:09our weather, others will surely be asking, will the heat return?

0:00:09 > 0:00:12In our forecast for the week ahead, it looks like it won't return

0:00:12 > 0:00:15on anything like the scale we had on Wednesday.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17Temperatures well up into the 20s,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20even into the mid-30s across parts of the south.

0:00:20 > 0:00:21Fast forward to Thursday,

0:00:21 > 0:00:24a westerly wind brought fresher air across the country and we

0:00:24 > 0:00:26shaved a good 10 degrees

0:00:26 > 0:00:28of those temperatures in places.

0:00:28 > 0:00:29As the change took place,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31a few of us had thunderstorms,

0:00:31 > 0:00:34many more had quite a quiet day on Thursday but with some extra cloud,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36with limited sunshine

0:00:36 > 0:00:39and certainly a fresher feel.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42That is the way the weather will be through the next few days.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Fresher, quite breezy, some rain at times but not all the time.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47There will be some spells of sunshine as well.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51The fresher air will be coming from the west, from the Atlantic.

0:00:51 > 0:00:52Also coming from the Atlantic,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54an area of low pressure which will be bringing

0:00:54 > 0:00:58a frontal system southwards and eastwards during the day on Friday.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00The front won't be moving very quickly at all.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03In fact, it will get rather stuck across parts of northern England,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Wales and the Midlands.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08Any heavier bursts of rain really confined to the hills in the west.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11Drying up as the day goes on for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:11 > 0:01:12Staying dry all day for many

0:01:12 > 0:01:14southern and eastern areas of England.

0:01:14 > 0:01:18Temperatures around 16 to 24 degrees.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Our front continues to journey very slowly south-eastwards

0:01:21 > 0:01:24during Friday night and for Saturday morning, it is likely

0:01:24 > 0:01:27to be sitting across parts of East Anglia and the south-east.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29It will take time to clear away, so a grey and quite damp

0:01:29 > 0:01:31start to the weekend here.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34But as the front clears, things will brighten up a little bit,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36some spells of sunshine, often a fair amount of cloud.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39A scattering of showers as well on what will be a breezy day.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41In fact, quite windy towards the north of Scotland

0:01:41 > 0:01:43where there could be gales at times.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46And certainly a cool feel to the weather and that cool feel

0:01:46 > 0:01:48will continue on into Sunday.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50As well, north-westerly winds across the country.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52A lot of dry weather at this stage,

0:01:52 > 0:01:55just a few showers up towards the north-east.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Now, as we had through Sunday night and into Monday,

0:01:58 > 0:02:01this is where some heat could return.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Certainly the chance of some humid air to push in from the south

0:02:04 > 0:02:08behind this warm front. Also notice across Iberia, some thunderstorms.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12They may come into play in just a moment.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15But Monday itself, looks likely to bring a band of rain in from

0:02:15 > 0:02:18the west as our area of low pressure wobbles its way in.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20A lot of uncertainty about the timing and ahead of it,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23that's where we could pull in the warm and humid air.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26During Monday night, into Tuesday, don't take this too literally,

0:02:26 > 0:02:30but this is where we could see some of those thunderstorms creeping in

0:02:30 > 0:02:31across parts of the country.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34But no sooner has the humid air arrived,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37it is going to be swept away again from the west.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41That fresher air does look very likely to return as we get

0:02:41 > 0:02:43deeper into next week.

0:02:43 > 0:02:47That brief flirtation with something more humid,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50will come about because of this dip in the jet stream.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52On the southern and eastern side of the jet stream,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55we are able to tap in to the warm and humid air

0:02:55 > 0:02:56across the near continent.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58But as we get deeper into the week,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00the jet stream breaks through from the west.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03We are on the cool side of the jet, we're into the fresher air and

0:03:03 > 0:03:07not only will we be in the fresher air, the jet stream could well

0:03:07 > 0:03:10spin up areas of low pressure at times

0:03:10 > 0:03:13and move them across the country.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15So generally speaking, after what could be

0:03:15 > 0:03:17a brief flirtation with something warm at the beginning of the week,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19as we get towards the end of the week,

0:03:19 > 0:03:20we'll get back to that fresher feel.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23Some rain at times, some sunshine as well,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26often breezy and that sort of whether will take us right through

0:03:26 > 0:03:29the end of June and into the start of July.
