0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. This time last week, we were talking about record-breaking
0:00:06 > 0:00:08temperatures possibly across the UK.
0:00:08 > 0:00:12And, in fact, we saw the hottest day since 1976 -
0:00:12 > 0:00:15the middle of last week we had 35 Celsius.
0:00:15 > 0:00:18This week, temperatures will be down considerably. A
0:00:18 > 0:00:22maximum high expected this week of around 25 Celsius
0:00:22 > 0:00:25and, guess what, we have had it already on Monday.
0:00:25 > 0:00:27In fact, the rest of the week looks pretty changeable.
0:00:27 > 0:00:29Some spells of heavy rain moving in.
0:00:29 > 0:00:32It will be quite breezy if not windy at times
0:00:32 > 0:00:34and it will feel noticeably fresher.
0:00:34 > 0:00:37The first culprit - an area of low pressure
0:00:37 > 0:00:39moving in as we speak, will gradually move its way
0:00:39 > 0:00:43steadily north and east across Scotland through the early morning.
0:00:43 > 0:00:46In fact, it could bring some pretty heavy rain through the central belt
0:00:46 > 0:00:48during the early morning rush-hour.
0:00:48 > 0:00:52Behind, some sharp, heavy, thundery downpours into Northern Ireland
0:00:52 > 0:00:54and a plume of thundery downpours into the south-east.
0:00:54 > 0:00:58It will be quite humid, I suspect, here through the course of Tuesday.
0:00:58 > 0:01:0122 degrees the high, but already something that little bit fresher,
0:01:01 > 0:01:0511 to 17 degrees likely further north.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08As we move out of Tuesday into Wednesday, we see a rash of showers.
0:01:08 > 0:01:12Plenty of water to keep the gardeners and growers happy
0:01:12 > 0:01:14or breathe a sigh of relief at least.
0:01:14 > 0:01:17As we see rain pushing across England, Wales and into
0:01:17 > 0:01:18Northern Ireland.
0:01:18 > 0:01:22It stays predominantly dry during the night-time period into
0:01:22 > 0:01:24the far north of Scotland.
0:01:24 > 0:01:26So we start off on Wednesday then again
0:01:26 > 0:01:30with a pretty unsettled picture as low pressure sits close to the UK
0:01:30 > 0:01:33in the North Sea and it will continue to push this rain across
0:01:33 > 0:01:35England and Wales in particular.
0:01:35 > 0:01:37That is where the heaviest of the rain is likely to be.
0:01:37 > 0:01:39Maybe fringing Northern Ireland.
0:01:39 > 0:01:42Scotland seeing the best of the dry weather, but the winds starting
0:01:42 > 0:01:44to swing round to a north-easterly.
0:01:44 > 0:01:46Fresher here - 12,13 degrees on the east coast,
0:01:46 > 0:01:50highest values of 20 in the south-east corner.
0:01:50 > 0:01:53As we move through Wednesday towards Thursday,
0:01:53 > 0:01:56the low pressure sits in the North Sea still influencing the story.
0:01:56 > 0:01:59This weather front is going to be with us for quite some time.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01Again, the wind direction noticeable,
0:02:01 > 0:02:04making it feel quite cooler coming from the north.
0:02:04 > 0:02:06We'll see a band of cloud and rain through Scotland
0:02:06 > 0:02:07and Northern Ireland.
0:02:07 > 0:02:09To the south, some showers, some sunshine,
0:02:09 > 0:02:10highs of 21 degrees.
0:02:10 > 0:02:14But that whether front sinks its way south again and the wind
0:02:14 > 0:02:15direction changes subtly,
0:02:15 > 0:02:18but that could play its part during the day on Friday
0:02:18 > 0:02:21as the rain continues to drift its way steadily south.
0:02:21 > 0:02:26We could see temperatures start to climb in sheltered areas
0:02:26 > 0:02:28of Scotland. Known as the fern effect.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30If you want more details of that, you can find it on our website
0:02:30 > 0:02:33but we could see 19 here and maybe 19 in the south-east corner.
0:02:33 > 0:02:37But that front finally clears away Friday into Saturday.
0:02:37 > 0:02:39We see more of north-westerly flow.
0:02:39 > 0:02:43A brief ridge for a time before the next area of low pressure pushes in.
0:02:43 > 0:02:45So you can get the general theme,
0:02:45 > 0:02:48the pattern I'm afraid for the rest of this week.
0:02:48 > 0:02:50Not a bad day, potentially, on Saturday.
0:02:50 > 0:02:54Before more wet weather moves in from the west.
0:02:54 > 0:02:55So, what is happening?
0:02:55 > 0:02:57Well, the jet stream has taken quite a kink,
0:02:57 > 0:03:01quite a dive to the south of the UK and that is allowing more of
0:03:01 > 0:03:05a northerly flow - cooler, fresher feel across the UK and it is
0:03:05 > 0:03:07also allowing for these low pressures
0:03:07 > 0:03:08to move in from the Atlantic.
0:03:08 > 0:03:11As we move towards the weekend, it evens out a little.
0:03:11 > 0:03:13We see the lows of into the north and maybe a return to
0:03:13 > 0:03:17something a little bit warmer, a little bit drier into the south.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20But, for the longer-term period,
0:03:20 > 0:03:23it does look likely to stay pretty changeable for the early half
0:03:23 > 0:03:27of July with some rain at times and temperatures about average
0:03:27 > 0:03:29for where they should be for this time of year.
0:03:29 > 0:03:31More from me same time tomorrow.
0:03:32 > 0:03:34Across the country, 11 million people
0:03:34 > 0:03:36are living in private rentals.
0:03:36 > 0:03:38He can just chuck me out any time.
0:03:38 > 0:03:42But how would their landlords manage living as tenants?
0:03:42 > 0:03:45It's helped me appreciate that decisions we make
0:03:45 > 0:03:47impact people's lives.
0:03:47 > 0:03:49The Week The Landlords Moved In starts:
