0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello there. There's no extreme weather on the way
0:00:04 > 0:00:06for the early part of July, but before we look ahead,
0:00:06 > 0:00:08let's take a quick look back at June.
0:00:08 > 0:00:10And this was the maximum temperatures.
0:00:10 > 0:00:13It's been one of the warmest Junes on record,
0:00:13 > 0:00:14helped by all the heat
0:00:14 > 0:00:16that we had around the middle part of the month,
0:00:16 > 0:00:17especially in the south-east.
0:00:17 > 0:00:19The warmer colours there, the reds,
0:00:19 > 0:00:22showing significantly above average temperatures.
0:00:22 > 0:00:25And the blues showing significantly above average rainfall.
0:00:25 > 0:00:28It's been one of the wettest Junes on record.
0:00:28 > 0:00:30In fact, this is the first month we've had
0:00:30 > 0:00:32significantly above average rainfall
0:00:32 > 0:00:34for the past 12 months.
0:00:34 > 0:00:37Now we have seen the rain easing off
0:00:37 > 0:00:39over the last 24 hours or so.
0:00:39 > 0:00:42This cloud not quite as thick or as threatening
0:00:42 > 0:00:43as it was just a few days ago.
0:00:43 > 0:00:45It's going to be into Europe that will see
0:00:45 > 0:00:47most of the rain on Saturday,
0:00:47 > 0:00:49as the pressure here is that bit lower.
0:00:49 > 0:00:50We've got a bump of high pressure
0:00:50 > 0:00:52coming in to us at the moment,
0:00:52 > 0:00:53but with low-pressure
0:00:53 > 0:00:54steering to the north of Scotland,
0:00:54 > 0:00:56this weather front will trail into the north-west
0:00:56 > 0:00:58and spoil things a bit on Saturday.
0:00:58 > 0:01:00So clouding over in western Scotland,
0:01:00 > 0:01:01Northern Ireland, there'll be
0:01:01 > 0:01:02some rain or drizzle,
0:01:02 > 0:01:03no great amounts that all.
0:01:03 > 0:01:05Probably dry in eastern Scotland
0:01:05 > 0:01:07and dry across England and Wales
0:01:07 > 0:01:09and here too there'll be some good spells
0:01:09 > 0:01:11of sunshine where temperatures widely
0:01:11 > 0:01:13getting up to 21 or 22, 24 in the south-east
0:01:13 > 0:01:15quite likely, even getting up 20 degrees
0:01:15 > 0:01:16in eastern Scotland.
0:01:16 > 0:01:18That's significantly higher
0:01:18 > 0:01:19than it was just the other day
0:01:19 > 0:01:20when it was 12 degrees, of course,
0:01:20 > 0:01:22in Edinburgh in the rain.
0:01:22 > 0:01:23This rain, though, does move its way
0:01:23 > 0:01:25clear of Scotland and Northern Ireland
0:01:25 > 0:01:26during the evening and overnight
0:01:26 > 0:01:28continues to push towards the south-east
0:01:28 > 0:01:30and it'll give enough rain
0:01:30 > 0:01:31to just wet the gardens.
0:01:31 > 0:01:34Clearer skies following towards the north
0:01:34 > 0:01:35and temperatures slipping away to 11 or 12,
0:01:35 > 0:01:37but quite windy for a while
0:01:37 > 0:01:39in northern Scotland with those showers.
0:01:39 > 0:01:41The winds ease down a bit on Sunday
0:01:41 > 0:01:42and this rain in the south-east
0:01:42 > 0:01:44and East Anglia takes a few hours
0:01:44 > 0:01:45to clear away in the morning.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47The cloud eventually breaking up,
0:01:47 > 0:01:49sunny spells developing in most areas
0:01:49 > 0:01:51and warm in the sunshine again,
0:01:51 > 0:01:52but a few drizzly showers
0:01:52 > 0:01:55coming into the north-west of Scotland
0:01:55 > 0:01:56on that weather system there,
0:01:56 > 0:01:58but that weather system
0:01:58 > 0:02:00quite typical of the week ahead.
0:02:00 > 0:02:01It's going to be very weak.
0:02:01 > 0:02:03We're not seeing the large amounts
0:02:03 > 0:02:05of rain that we've had over the last week,
0:02:05 > 0:02:07so more a band of cloud,
0:02:07 > 0:02:09some rain or drizzle moving away from Scotland
0:02:09 > 0:02:12and Northern Ireland into north-west England
0:02:12 > 0:02:13and Wales on Monday.
0:02:13 > 0:02:15There may be a few showers ahead of that,
0:02:15 > 0:02:16but, for the most part,
0:02:16 > 0:02:17the south-east should be dry
0:02:17 > 0:02:19and warm for the start of Wimbledon.
0:02:19 > 0:02:20But this weather front
0:02:20 > 0:02:21just going to hang around a little bit.
0:02:21 > 0:02:23There's nothing much to move it on at all.
0:02:23 > 0:02:24A little area of low pressure
0:02:24 > 0:02:25delaying the progress,
0:02:25 > 0:02:29so across southern parts of England into Wales,
0:02:29 > 0:02:30maybe the Midlands, we could see more cloud,
0:02:30 > 0:02:32a little bit of rain.
0:02:32 > 0:02:34The details still quite uncertain, actually.
0:02:34 > 0:02:35And to the north it'll be drier,
0:02:35 > 0:02:37brighter, a little bit cooler,
0:02:37 > 0:02:38actually, with one or two showers.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41Some warmth across southern England.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43The real warmth is not far away, actually.
0:02:43 > 0:02:44And it could well induce
0:02:44 > 0:02:46some of these thundery showers
0:02:46 > 0:02:47just across the continent,
0:02:47 > 0:02:50but 23 in London. It may well be dry.
0:02:50 > 0:02:52Across the far north-west of Scotland,
0:02:52 > 0:02:54the weather front here may bring some rain.
0:02:54 > 0:02:56Now, as we head into the week,
0:02:56 > 0:02:57we're going to find this zone or flow
0:02:57 > 0:02:59sort of west-east flow
0:02:59 > 0:03:01typified by the jet stream.
0:03:01 > 0:03:03It's sort of wishy-washy weather
0:03:03 > 0:03:04that will continue.
0:03:04 > 0:03:06With this sort of pattern,
0:03:06 > 0:03:07you tend to find areas of low pressure
0:03:07 > 0:03:09getting steered to the north-west
0:03:09 > 0:03:10of the UK and higher pressure
0:03:10 > 0:03:12more towards the south.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14It doesn't mean it's going to be wet in the north all the time
0:03:14 > 0:03:17or dry in the south all the time. It's going to be a mixture.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20There will be some thicker spells of cloud and some rain,
0:03:20 > 0:03:23but equally we'll see some good dry weather and some sunshine
0:03:23 > 0:03:26and, if anything, it's probably going to be a warming trend
0:03:26 > 0:03:28as we move later
0:03:28 > 0:03:29into next week. Goodbye.
