0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello, thanks for joining me.
0:00:03 > 0:00:06Time we updated you on how we feel the week is going to unfold,
0:00:06 > 0:00:09and then we'll just push it that little bit further into next week,
0:00:09 > 0:00:12just to see what's in store.
0:00:12 > 0:00:14Thursday had plenty of weather in store -
0:00:14 > 0:00:1632 degrees at Heathrow,
0:00:16 > 0:00:19nothing like it underneath the blanket of cloud
0:00:19 > 0:00:20further north,
0:00:20 > 0:00:22and in the midst of all of this,
0:00:22 > 0:00:23we had torrential downpours,
0:00:23 > 0:00:25initially across East Anglia,
0:00:25 > 0:00:26but, later in the day,
0:00:26 > 0:00:28they really began to brew up
0:00:28 > 0:00:30across the Pennines and across Yorkshire.
0:00:30 > 0:00:33Underneath those clear skies in the south,
0:00:33 > 0:00:34glorious fare, there,
0:00:34 > 0:00:35quite widely across the southern half
0:00:35 > 0:00:36of England and Wales.
0:00:36 > 0:00:38Closer to the weather front
0:00:38 > 0:00:40and that 14 degrees across the north-west,
0:00:40 > 0:00:42well, the cloud was pretty leaden
0:00:42 > 0:00:43and there was rain at times -
0:00:43 > 0:00:45and we're not quite done
0:00:45 > 0:00:46with that sort of scenario just yet,
0:00:46 > 0:00:49because a new day brings a new weather front
0:00:49 > 0:00:50in from the Atlantic,
0:00:50 > 0:00:52pushing the prospect of cloud
0:00:52 > 0:00:53and the odd bit and piece of rain
0:00:53 > 0:00:55across Scotland,
0:00:55 > 0:00:57having perhaps affected Northern Ireland overnight.
0:00:57 > 0:00:59Get on through Friday and the cloud,
0:00:59 > 0:01:00from a weakening weather front,
0:01:00 > 0:01:01just pushes its way
0:01:01 > 0:01:03into the heart of the British Isles -
0:01:03 > 0:01:05but it doesn't stop the temperatures
0:01:05 > 0:01:06again pushing towards 27, 28,
0:01:06 > 0:01:07at least in the south.
0:01:07 > 0:01:09A cooler day underneath that blanket of cloud
0:01:09 > 0:01:11across the north of England
0:01:11 > 0:01:12than was the case on Thursday,
0:01:12 > 0:01:14and that blanket of cloud
0:01:14 > 0:01:15really begins to thicken up
0:01:15 > 0:01:18as we get through Friday night into Saturday.
0:01:18 > 0:01:21This is disappointing fare for July,
0:01:21 > 0:01:22no doubt about it.
0:01:22 > 0:01:23A dank start to the day,
0:01:23 > 0:01:26perhaps the rain just beginning to ease a touch
0:01:26 > 0:01:27on into the afternoon,
0:01:27 > 0:01:29but signs of another weather front
0:01:29 > 0:01:31just beginning to push its way
0:01:31 > 0:01:34towards the north-western quarter of Scotland.
0:01:34 > 0:01:35So, Saturday into Sunday,
0:01:35 > 0:01:37and we're caught betwixt and between.
0:01:37 > 0:01:39Quite a vigorous area of low pressure
0:01:39 > 0:01:41throwing the prospect of thunderstorms
0:01:41 > 0:01:43across a good part of France,
0:01:43 > 0:01:44maybe into the Channel area.
0:01:44 > 0:01:46One or two showers just breaking out
0:01:46 > 0:01:48a little bit further north than that,
0:01:48 > 0:01:50and all the while, that weather front trying to come in
0:01:50 > 0:01:52towards the north-west of Scotland -
0:01:52 > 0:01:54but there will be a zone through Northern Ireland,
0:01:54 > 0:01:56the south of Scotland and northern England
0:01:56 > 0:01:58where we will see somewhat drier conditions.
0:01:58 > 0:01:59That area of low pressure
0:01:59 > 0:02:02thankfully takes much of its activity
0:02:02 > 0:02:03up through the North Sea
0:02:03 > 0:02:04during the course of Monday,
0:02:04 > 0:02:06but there's no getting away from the fact
0:02:06 > 0:02:08that the cloud will be thick enough
0:02:08 > 0:02:09for there to be the odd showery burst,
0:02:09 > 0:02:12on what will be a cooler feel to the week,
0:02:12 > 0:02:13given that the breezes
0:02:13 > 0:02:15will be coming in from the north and north-west.
0:02:15 > 0:02:17Initially, the wind quite a factor on the east coast,
0:02:17 > 0:02:20but as we move out of Monday into Tuesday,
0:02:20 > 0:02:21so this area of high pressure
0:02:21 > 0:02:24just topples its way across the British Isles -
0:02:24 > 0:02:25but out in the Atlantic,
0:02:25 > 0:02:27we see the first signs of a battle
0:02:27 > 0:02:29between low pressure to the north,
0:02:29 > 0:02:31high pressure to the south.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34Tuesday, it's the calm before the storm,
0:02:34 > 0:02:35because as we get towards
0:02:35 > 0:02:37the middle part of the week,
0:02:37 > 0:02:39the high pressure will have lost out,
0:02:39 > 0:02:40at least for a time.
0:02:40 > 0:02:41The low pressure,
0:02:41 > 0:02:43away towards the north-west of the British Isles,
0:02:43 > 0:02:45will be throwing weather fronts
0:02:45 > 0:02:47across all parts, pretty much.
0:02:47 > 0:02:48The lows certainly dominant
0:02:48 > 0:02:50in that middle part of the week.
0:02:50 > 0:02:51There will be rain for many.
0:02:51 > 0:02:53Disappointing, as I say.
0:02:53 > 0:02:56Cool and windy for all parts of the British Isles -
0:02:56 > 0:02:58but, as I say, it's a battle,
0:02:58 > 0:03:00and there have to be winners and losers,
0:03:00 > 0:03:02and, for a time, albeit briefly,
0:03:02 > 0:03:03later in the week,
0:03:03 > 0:03:04we will see that high pressure
0:03:04 > 0:03:06trying to nose its way back in,
0:03:06 > 0:03:09pushing the low pressure away from the British Isles
0:03:09 > 0:03:10and, in this scenario,
0:03:10 > 0:03:12albeit rather temporary,
0:03:12 > 0:03:14then the high will win out,
0:03:14 > 0:03:17at least for a time, later next week,
0:03:17 > 0:03:18so, we may well see
0:03:18 > 0:03:20somewhat drier and brighter conditions,
0:03:20 > 0:03:21and it may well feel,
0:03:21 > 0:03:22given the absence of the cloud
0:03:22 > 0:03:24and a wee bit more sunshine,
0:03:24 > 0:03:26just a little bit warmer -
0:03:26 > 0:03:27but I warn you,
0:03:27 > 0:03:29it will only be a temporary improvement.
