0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello once again. It's time we updated you
0:00:04 > 0:00:06on what we expect to see right across the British Isles
0:00:06 > 0:00:09for this weekend, then we'll look in some detail at the first half
0:00:09 > 0:00:10of the forthcoming week,
0:00:10 > 0:00:11and we'll try and give you a flavour
0:00:11 > 0:00:12of what's to come
0:00:12 > 0:00:15as we get towards next weekend.
0:00:15 > 0:00:16So far today,
0:00:16 > 0:00:18the country's been somewhat split
0:00:18 > 0:00:19by this weather front
0:00:19 > 0:00:22which produced an awful lot of cloud across Scotland for a time.
0:00:22 > 0:00:25The odd bit and piece of rain getting across the border
0:00:25 > 0:00:26into the north of England too.
0:00:26 > 0:00:28It didn't do much for the temperatures.
0:00:28 > 0:00:31Further south, that poor old bee, yet again,
0:00:31 > 0:00:33as has been the case quite often this week,
0:00:33 > 0:00:36was labouring in temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius,
0:00:36 > 0:00:38close by to Heathrow, that is.
0:00:38 > 0:00:41The forthcoming weekend, well, if the heat hasn't been your thing,
0:00:41 > 0:00:44if indeed you've seen the heat, it will feel fresher.
0:00:44 > 0:00:46There is some sunshine in the forecast.
0:00:46 > 0:00:48There's a shower if not a longer spell of rain
0:00:48 > 0:00:50to be had as we get on into Sunday.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52The front that produced all that cloud
0:00:52 > 0:00:53across Scotland for a time,
0:00:53 > 0:00:54Northern Ireland too,
0:00:54 > 0:00:56will gradually slump its way,
0:00:56 > 0:00:57into the first part of Saturday,
0:00:57 > 0:00:58ever further south,
0:00:58 > 0:01:00really clouding things up.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02A good deal more perhaps than we've seen of late.
0:01:02 > 0:01:04It still has enough about it to be producing
0:01:04 > 0:01:06the odd bit and piece of rain.
0:01:06 > 0:01:07Especially so in the first part of the day
0:01:07 > 0:01:10across the southern half of both England and Wales,
0:01:10 > 0:01:11out towards the west.
0:01:11 > 0:01:14One or two of those spots could creep further east.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16Still the temperature around 24,
0:01:16 > 0:01:18possibly 25 in the southeast,
0:01:18 > 0:01:19just that wee bit fresher,
0:01:19 > 0:01:22but not unseasonably so further north.
0:01:22 > 0:01:24Then as that feature dies a death across the south,
0:01:24 > 0:01:26there's a band of cloud.
0:01:26 > 0:01:27We bring another set of fronts in
0:01:27 > 0:01:29towards the southern half of Scotland
0:01:29 > 0:01:32through Northern Ireland. A dank old day here.
0:01:32 > 0:01:34Further south, a lot of dry weather around.
0:01:34 > 0:01:36Still warm in the southeast
0:01:36 > 0:01:39with just one or two isolated showers.
0:01:39 > 0:01:41From Sunday on into Monday,
0:01:41 > 0:01:43we've got weather fronts close by.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45It may well be developments in the upper atmosphere
0:01:45 > 0:01:47that, come the middle of the day
0:01:47 > 0:01:49and indeed on into the afternoon,
0:01:49 > 0:01:53really begin to spark off quite a number of showers.
0:01:53 > 0:01:55A fresher feel across the piste here,
0:01:55 > 0:01:58especially so in that southeastern quarter
0:01:58 > 0:02:00where the top temperature will be closer to 22 or 23,
0:02:00 > 0:02:02rather than 29 or 30.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04Tuesday sees a random lump of cloud
0:02:04 > 0:02:06not really tied in with any feature
0:02:06 > 0:02:08that we can discern just at the moment.
0:02:08 > 0:02:11But it could generate quite a bit of shower activity,
0:02:11 > 0:02:13if not the odd longer spell of rain.
0:02:13 > 0:02:16Another more organised low pressure drags rain, we suspect,
0:02:16 > 0:02:19very close by to the southwest of England.
0:02:19 > 0:02:21That's something of a neat call at the moment,
0:02:21 > 0:02:23but that's the way it's looking just now.
0:02:23 > 0:02:25Then, if you happen to be on holiday,
0:02:25 > 0:02:26or whether you're not,
0:02:26 > 0:02:29you've got that little ridge of high pressure building,
0:02:29 > 0:02:31tending to kill off many of the showers.
0:02:31 > 0:02:33The temperatures, for the most part,
0:02:33 > 0:02:35pretty close to what we would expect
0:02:35 > 0:02:37at this time of year.
0:02:37 > 0:02:38So into the middle part of the week,
0:02:38 > 0:02:40things beginning to calm down,
0:02:40 > 0:02:42having seen those islands of cloud
0:02:42 > 0:02:44bringing that rather unsettled fare.
0:02:44 > 0:02:46But as we get on into the second half
0:02:46 > 0:02:48of the forthcoming week,
0:02:48 > 0:02:50there'll be the juxtaposition of low pressure
0:02:50 > 0:02:52close by to the northern half of the British Isles,
0:02:52 > 0:02:54high pressure in the south.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57Occasionally the high will win out
0:02:57 > 0:02:59and push the low pressure further away.
0:02:59 > 0:03:00So a better chance of seeing
0:03:00 > 0:03:02somewhat drier, finer conditions
0:03:02 > 0:03:04for the greater part of the British Isles.
0:03:04 > 0:03:05But nothing hangs around
0:03:05 > 0:03:06for very long at all
0:03:06 > 0:03:08because, before you know it,
0:03:08 > 0:03:09that area of high pressure
0:03:09 > 0:03:10slips away a little bit further
0:03:10 > 0:03:12towards the southwest,
0:03:12 > 0:03:14allowing another area of low pressure
0:03:14 > 0:03:17to trundle in close by to the northern half of the British Isles,
0:03:17 > 0:03:20so we get that juxtaposition of the high and the low,
0:03:20 > 0:03:22bringing - at times - some rain.
0:03:22 > 0:03:24Breezy for the most part,
0:03:24 > 0:03:26but generally much fresher
0:03:26 > 0:03:28in the south than we've seen of late.
0:03:28 > 0:03:29Enjoy your weekend.
