0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. If you put in an order for fine weekend weather,
0:00:06 > 0:00:09so far so good. Saturday was dry for the bulk of the UK,
0:00:09 > 0:00:13delivered some pleasant sunshine, as well, from the Isle of Wight,
0:00:13 > 0:00:15as you can see from this Weather Watcher picture,
0:00:15 > 0:00:18into much of Scotland, as you can see from St Andrews.
0:00:18 > 0:00:22I say "much of Scotland" because not everywhere had the sunshine.
0:00:22 > 0:00:25We have a weather system just fringing the very far
0:00:25 > 0:00:28north of Scotland, and during Saturday for the Western Isles then
0:00:28 > 0:00:30the Northern Isles, the far north of the mainland,
0:00:30 > 0:00:32that did deliver a bit of rain.
0:00:32 > 0:00:35And for part two of the weekend, during Sunday, that is
0:00:35 > 0:00:37edging a little bit further south across Scotland
0:00:37 > 0:00:40and eventually taking that rain into Northern Ireland,
0:00:40 > 0:00:45which had a lovely Saturday. So not quite as spectacular for Sunday.
0:00:45 > 0:00:48And for England and Wales there'll be a bit more cloud around,
0:00:48 > 0:00:51the chance for one or two showers, and perhaps for eastern
0:00:51 > 0:00:52England into the afternoon
0:00:52 > 0:00:55and evening the odd heavy one with maybe a rumble of thunder.
0:00:55 > 0:00:57Outbreaks of rain pushing south across Scotland.
0:00:57 > 0:01:00That means through the central belt, too, then into Northern Ireland.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02That will hold the temperature down into the mid-teens,
0:01:02 > 0:01:04where you have some of that.
0:01:04 > 0:01:07But still some heat, maybe as high as 29 Celsius,
0:01:07 > 0:01:09and humid, too, in parts of south-east England.
0:01:09 > 0:01:13But it is the last day of heat like that, because this weather
0:01:13 > 0:01:16system is moving south across the UK during Monday.
0:01:16 > 0:01:19There's still another push of fresher air to follow with that.
0:01:19 > 0:01:21And there'll be showers around -
0:01:21 > 0:01:23nothing more than that - on this weather system sinking its way
0:01:23 > 0:01:26southwards, so some rain Sunday night in northern England
0:01:26 > 0:01:29and then showers developing elsewhere during Monday,
0:01:29 > 0:01:32sunshine and showers, and it will be a little bit cooler,
0:01:32 > 0:01:35temperatures into the teens for most of us
0:01:35 > 0:01:37and cooler compared with the weekend, too, in south-east England
0:01:37 > 0:01:40but still pleasant when you're in some sunshine.
0:01:40 > 0:01:42There'll be showers around again during Tuesday,
0:01:42 > 0:01:45but then we're watching this weather system as it targets
0:01:45 > 0:01:49the southern half of the UK later on Tuesday into Tuesday night
0:01:49 > 0:01:52not just with showers but some rain.
0:01:52 > 0:01:54But then again, it has been so dry and very warm for some here,
0:01:54 > 0:01:57you may appreciate a shot of rain on the garden through
0:01:57 > 0:02:00parts of England and Wales, especially the further south
0:02:00 > 0:02:03you are, as we go on though Tuesday afternoon and into Tuesday night,
0:02:03 > 0:02:05potentially quite heavy for a time in south-east England
0:02:05 > 0:02:09before, as we go into Wednesday, that pulls away, clears away,
0:02:09 > 0:02:11and heads off into Continental Europe.
0:02:11 > 0:02:14And then for Wednesday we're in a gap between weather systems,
0:02:14 > 0:02:16this little ridge of high pressure moving in.
0:02:16 > 0:02:18So Wednesday's one of the better days
0:02:18 > 0:02:20if you like fine weather as we go through this week.
0:02:20 > 0:02:23There'll be a mixture of cloud, sunshine,
0:02:23 > 0:02:25the odd light shower breaking out - most places will be dry -
0:02:25 > 0:02:28and temperatures fairly close to average for the time of year,
0:02:28 > 0:02:30maybe a little bit cooler in some spots,
0:02:30 > 0:02:33but then again there will be some sunny spells around.
0:02:33 > 0:02:35The gap between weather systems is very brief, though.
0:02:35 > 0:02:37By Thursday, we have another one coming.
0:02:37 > 0:02:40Notice how far north of the UK the area of low pressure is.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42But it's around that we have these weather fronts draped,
0:02:42 > 0:02:45and they dump most of their moisture towards the north-west.
0:02:45 > 0:02:47And as they move south, they turn showery,
0:02:47 > 0:02:49and they're not going to reach much of southern and eastern parts
0:02:49 > 0:02:54of the UK until Thursday night, so until then a fine Thursday.
0:02:54 > 0:02:56Another gap between weather systems,
0:02:56 > 0:02:58another ridge of high pressure on Friday,
0:02:58 > 0:03:00but we have another area of low pressure
0:03:00 > 0:03:03and some rain to move through as we go into the start of the weekend.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05And by then, the breeze will be picking up, as well.
0:03:05 > 0:03:08And it's all part and parcel of what is a changeable weather
0:03:08 > 0:03:11pattern for next weekend, even into the start of the following week,
0:03:11 > 0:03:14so occasionally you get a ridge of high pressure and it's fine,
0:03:14 > 0:03:17you get some sunshine, occasionally you get some wet weather
0:03:17 > 0:03:19moving through courtesy of low pressure.
0:03:19 > 0:03:22It looks a breezier affair next weekend, though,
0:03:22 > 0:03:24and although relatively warm at times across parts of
0:03:24 > 0:03:28south-east England, for much of the UK it is looking on the cool side.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31And that's your latest weather for the week ahead.
