0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello, there. For the time being, at least, we've lost that July heat.
0:00:05 > 0:00:07In fact, we've probably already peaked this week -
0:00:07 > 0:00:10yesterday we saw a high of 27 degrees,
0:00:10 > 0:00:14but by Tuesday temperatures will be significantly lower.
0:00:14 > 0:00:1720, 21 degrees, if we are lucky -
0:00:17 > 0:00:19and there will be, at times,
0:00:19 > 0:00:21some heavy and some persistent rain to come.
0:00:21 > 0:00:23It will start off light and showery
0:00:23 > 0:00:25across Wales and south-west England,
0:00:25 > 0:00:27but then this area of low pressure
0:00:27 > 0:00:29will move in and just enhance that rainfall
0:00:29 > 0:00:31as we go through the day.
0:00:31 > 0:00:32So, perhaps the best of the weather
0:00:32 > 0:00:33on Tuesday is likely to be
0:00:33 > 0:00:35across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
0:00:35 > 0:00:37with just a scattering of showers.
0:00:37 > 0:00:38Some patchy rain to begin with
0:00:38 > 0:00:39in the south-east,
0:00:39 > 0:00:41maybe a brief lull through lunchtime,
0:00:41 > 0:00:43before some more heavier persistent rain
0:00:43 > 0:00:44pushes into the south-west,
0:00:44 > 0:00:46and we'll see the winds strengthening.
0:00:46 > 0:00:49Just how far north that rain goes
0:00:49 > 0:00:51is still open to question -
0:00:51 > 0:00:52but look at these temperatures.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54Significantly down on what we've been used to.
0:00:54 > 0:00:5714 to 20 degrees at the very best.
0:00:57 > 0:00:59Now, as we move out of Tuesday,
0:00:59 > 0:01:01that rain still yet to clear away
0:01:01 > 0:01:02from the south-east corner -
0:01:02 > 0:01:04so, welcome news for gardeners and growers.
0:01:04 > 0:01:05Some much-needed rain
0:01:05 > 0:01:07across much of central and southern parts
0:01:07 > 0:01:08of England and Wales -
0:01:08 > 0:01:09but behind that low,
0:01:09 > 0:01:11well, we'll start to see the wind swinging round
0:01:11 > 0:01:14to a northerly or a north-easterly direction,
0:01:14 > 0:01:16making it feel just that little bit fresher
0:01:16 > 0:01:18on those exposed east coasts -
0:01:18 > 0:01:19but on Wednesday a quieter day,
0:01:19 > 0:01:22drier, with sunny spells coming through,
0:01:22 > 0:01:25temperatures at around 16 to 22 degrees,
0:01:25 > 0:01:27feeling a little better the further west
0:01:27 > 0:01:29in a little more shelter.
0:01:29 > 0:01:30As we move out of Wednesday,
0:01:30 > 0:01:33we see this ridge of high pressure building,
0:01:33 > 0:01:34so, things quieten down
0:01:34 > 0:01:35for a day, at least, again.
0:01:35 > 0:01:37We'll see this weak weather front threatening,
0:01:37 > 0:01:40so, the best of the weather on Thursday
0:01:40 > 0:01:42is likely to be across sheltered eastern areas.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45Dry, with some sunshine, a scattering of showers
0:01:45 > 0:01:46developing out to the west
0:01:46 > 0:01:48as we go through the day.
0:01:48 > 0:01:4917 to 23 degrees the high
0:01:49 > 0:01:51by the middle of the afternoon.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54Now, that weather front has yet to clear away.
0:01:54 > 0:01:56It will do so during Thursday
0:01:56 > 0:01:58into the early hours of Friday morning,
0:01:58 > 0:02:00and will bring some showers with it
0:02:00 > 0:02:02before, again, another ridge builds,
0:02:02 > 0:02:03before the next system
0:02:03 > 0:02:05waits in the wings across the north-west.
0:02:05 > 0:02:07It's going to stay pretty changeable this week.
0:02:07 > 0:02:09So, we could have some early showers
0:02:09 > 0:02:10across the south-east corner
0:02:10 > 0:02:12to clear away first thing on Friday.
0:02:12 > 0:02:15Drier, brighter weather from the west,
0:02:15 > 0:02:18before the next area of frame starts to show its hand
0:02:18 > 0:02:20into the north-west by the end of Friday.
0:02:20 > 0:02:22That will bring some wetter weather,
0:02:22 > 0:02:23weakening all the time
0:02:23 > 0:02:24as it pushes steadily east -
0:02:24 > 0:02:26but for the start of the weekend,
0:02:26 > 0:02:27stays pretty changeable.
0:02:27 > 0:02:29It stays pretty windy at times,
0:02:29 > 0:02:33and there will be some showery outbreaks of rain,
0:02:33 > 0:02:35so, it's not all straightforward
0:02:35 > 0:02:36for the start of the weekend.
0:02:36 > 0:02:40Top temperatures around 18 to 23 degrees.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42It probably won't come as a surprise to hear
0:02:42 > 0:02:43that the jet stream
0:02:43 > 0:02:45is sitting right across us at the moment,
0:02:45 > 0:02:47allowing for this mobile westerly flow,
0:02:47 > 0:02:50for the Atlantic frontal systems
0:02:50 > 0:02:52to move in from day to day -
0:02:52 > 0:02:54but, as we move out of the weekend
0:02:54 > 0:02:57into the longer-term period,
0:02:57 > 0:02:58it looks as though we'll see
0:02:58 > 0:02:59more of an amplified jet stream,
0:02:59 > 0:03:02and that's going to allow this high pressure to build
0:03:02 > 0:03:03from the south-west,
0:03:03 > 0:03:05and hopefully push a little more warmth
0:03:05 > 0:03:06back in across us.
0:03:06 > 0:03:07All the time, though,
0:03:07 > 0:03:09across the far north and east of Scotland
0:03:09 > 0:03:11and north-east England,
0:03:11 > 0:03:13you're staying on that colder side of the jet -
0:03:13 > 0:03:14but it looks as though
0:03:14 > 0:03:16further ahead will be a little less changeable,
0:03:16 > 0:03:18though the best of the drier weather
0:03:18 > 0:03:19will be in the south -
0:03:19 > 0:03:21and hopefully, fingers crossed,
0:03:21 > 0:03:23something a little warmer
0:03:23 > 0:03:24returns for many of us.
0:03:24 > 0:03:26More from me same time tomorrow.
