0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. It was a mud-free Glastonbury,
0:00:05 > 0:00:09and so far so good in terms of the weather for Wimbledon 2017 -
0:00:09 > 0:00:13until Tuesday, and the umbrellas were out for Murray Mount as rain
0:00:13 > 0:00:15stopped play on the outer courts.
0:00:15 > 0:00:18At least Johanna Konta gave us something to smile about,
0:00:18 > 0:00:21but there was also plenty to smile about for gardeners
0:00:21 > 0:00:25and growers, some heavy rain moving its way across England and Wales.
0:00:25 > 0:00:27We could see as much as an inch of rain in many
0:00:27 > 0:00:30places before this system clears through,
0:00:30 > 0:00:33and that will be the first significant rainfall across
0:00:33 > 0:00:37much of eastern and south-east England so far this month.
0:00:37 > 0:00:39But it WILL slowly clear through
0:00:39 > 0:00:41and leave a legacy of cloud first thing in the morning.
0:00:41 > 0:00:44A bit more of a stiffer breeze along exposed east coasts,
0:00:44 > 0:00:47but the sunshine will break through as the day progresses.
0:00:47 > 0:00:50It'll be quite a pleasant day, and in sheltered western areas,
0:00:50 > 0:00:51the temperatures are going to respond,
0:00:51 > 0:00:55a degree or so up on what we've seen on Tuesday,
0:00:55 > 0:00:59with highs of 19 to 23 degrees, just that little bit fresher
0:00:59 > 0:01:03along the east coast, 15 to 18 with the breeze coming in off the sea.
0:01:03 > 0:01:07Now, as we move into Thursday, we'll see a ridge of high pressure just
0:01:07 > 0:01:10building and staying with us before this little weather front
0:01:10 > 0:01:12introduces more showers,
0:01:12 > 0:01:16and again we see this unsettled mobile westerly theme continuing.
0:01:16 > 0:01:18But Thursday will be a relatively dry day,
0:01:18 > 0:01:22with some sunny spells and just a few isolated showers cropping up.
0:01:22 > 0:01:25More significant showers by the end of the day into the far north-west.
0:01:25 > 0:01:28Here, highs of 16 or 17 degrees.
0:01:28 > 0:01:32Elsewhere, we'll see temperatures responding at 20 to 23.
0:01:32 > 0:01:35That weather front will enhance some showers as we move
0:01:35 > 0:01:38through Thursday into Friday.
0:01:38 > 0:01:40Nothing particularly significant with it.
0:01:40 > 0:01:43The winds will swing round to a fresher north-westerly feel
0:01:43 > 0:01:46and, generally speaking, we've got that mobile westerly flow, so
0:01:46 > 0:01:50the potential for a few more showers along exposed west-facing coasts.
0:01:50 > 0:01:52But, again, with a little more shelter we'll see
0:01:52 > 0:01:56highs of around 16 to 22 degrees in the south-east.
0:01:56 > 0:01:58Rain threatens from the west,
0:01:58 > 0:02:01this mobile westerly theme set to continue,
0:02:01 > 0:02:03and we'll see the isobars squeezing together, so there's some
0:02:03 > 0:02:07wetter and windier weather to come for the start of the weekend.
0:02:07 > 0:02:10But as that weather front drifts its way south and east,
0:02:10 > 0:02:11it weakens off substantially.
0:02:11 > 0:02:13There's a risk, though, of breezier conditions,
0:02:13 > 0:02:17more showers to come, potentially, on Saturday.
0:02:17 > 0:02:19But if the showers ease through and we keep some sunshine,
0:02:19 > 0:02:22the wind's coming from a south-westerly direction,
0:02:22 > 0:02:23so a degree or so warmer.
0:02:23 > 0:02:27That weather front still a little bit of a nuisance into Sunday.
0:02:27 > 0:02:30I just want to draw your attention to the high pressure
0:02:30 > 0:02:32building down into the south-west.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35So far this week, we've seen a pretty mobile westerly flow,
0:02:35 > 0:02:38so we keep the showers going potentially out to the west,
0:02:38 > 0:02:42but a good deal of dry, sunny weather, and with some sunshine
0:02:42 > 0:02:45we'll start to see some warmth building in the south-east,
0:02:45 > 0:02:4725 degrees.
0:02:47 > 0:02:51The jet stream has been sat pretty much across the UK and has delivered
0:02:51 > 0:02:52this westerly flow,
0:02:52 > 0:02:56but we'll see more of an amplified jet stream into next week.
0:02:56 > 0:02:58That's going to allow that high pressure to build
0:02:58 > 0:03:02that I pointed out and drive in some warmer air across the country,
0:03:02 > 0:03:06even starting to feel hot and humid again from the south.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09There's only one slight potential problem -
0:03:09 > 0:03:11and it is only a slight problem -
0:03:11 > 0:03:13we could just see a low pressure developing into the south-east,
0:03:13 > 0:03:17and that, as it bumps into the humidity, could trigger
0:03:17 > 0:03:21off some sharp, thundery downpours in the longer six-to-ten-day period.
0:03:21 > 0:03:26The best of the drier weather looks likely to be into the far north
0:03:26 > 0:03:28and west. Still a lot to play for.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31Don't make this the last forecast you're going to see.
