0:00:03 > 0:00:04Hello. No doubt about it,

0:00:04 > 0:00:07the weather has taken a turn for the unsettled,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09and quite a dramatic turn at that.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12Quite a few of us have seen thunderstorms

0:00:12 > 0:00:13over the last day or so.

0:00:13 > 0:00:17That was the early hours of Wednesday at Reigate, in Surrey.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19Later on Wednesday, the rain set in

0:00:19 > 0:00:21across northwest England,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23and also North Wales,

0:00:23 > 0:00:25where, in places, there was enough rain

0:00:25 > 0:00:28in a short space of time to give some issues with flooding.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31I'm not expecting anything quite as dramatic as that

0:00:31 > 0:00:34over the next few days, but low pressure will be in charge,

0:00:34 > 0:00:37so things will stay unsettled.

0:00:37 > 0:00:38To settle things down,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40we would need to see high pressure,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42but it is way down here,

0:00:42 > 0:00:44over the Azores.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46We're keeping an eye on that area

0:00:46 > 0:00:48of high pressure during this forecast

0:00:48 > 0:00:49to see if we can bring it

0:00:49 > 0:00:51any closer to the British Isles.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54For Thursday, some showery rain to clear away from eastern parts

0:00:54 > 0:00:57first thing, then a fair amount of sunshine,

0:00:57 > 0:00:58some more rain into the west

0:00:58 > 0:01:01later on, and a cooler, fresher feel to the weather,

0:01:01 > 0:01:0316 degrees in Aberdeen,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05perhaps up to 22 in London.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08During Thursday night and into Friday,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10things will turn quite windy in the west,

0:01:10 > 0:01:14some outbreaks of rain beginning to push in, heavy rain at that.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16Staying dry for the time being from eastern Scotland

0:01:16 > 0:01:19down towards East Anglia and the southeast.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22I think these eastern parts will stay dry during Friday,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25because an area of low pressure sliding its way in

0:01:25 > 0:01:28isn't going to be making very quick progress at all.

0:01:28 > 0:01:32It'll just sit around across the western side of the British Isles,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34bringing rain for much of the day

0:01:34 > 0:01:37across Wales, the southwest, the West Midlands and Northern Ireland.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Still that cooler, fresher feel for most of us.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43So what happens to our area of high pressure?

0:01:43 > 0:01:44For the start of the weekend,

0:01:44 > 0:01:48it stays stranded down to the southwest,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50and low pressure is in charge,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52just pin-wheeling around across the country.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55That means there'll be spells of rain,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57heavy and perhaps thundery showers,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00some sunny intervals as well,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03temperatures around 15 to 21 degrees.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Low pressure remains with us

0:02:05 > 0:02:06right through into Sunday.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Notice the isobars becoming a little more widely spaced.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12That means the winds will be a bit lighter,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15but it also means where showers crop up on Sunday,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17they'll be quite slow moving.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20They could give you quite a lot of rain, 16 to 23 degrees.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23During Sunday night into Monday,

0:02:23 > 0:02:26our area of low pressure will drift a little bit further eastwards

0:02:26 > 0:02:29and we start to see our area of high pressure

0:02:29 > 0:02:31trying to work its way in.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35It certainly extends up the western side of the country,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38and gradually, that will settle things down a little bit -

0:02:38 > 0:02:40fewer showers, more dry weather,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42but north or north-easterly winds,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44so it will feel rather cool.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47So our high pressure trying to

0:02:47 > 0:02:48build its way in,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51but watch what happens as we get deeper into the week.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53It retreats south-westwards again.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56We don't bring in the high across the country or settle things down.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58In fact, later in the week,

0:02:58 > 0:03:02the jet stream, which drives all our weather systems around the world,

0:03:02 > 0:03:06is likely to strengthen, working from west to east,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09and this could well spin up some deeper areas of low pressure,

0:03:09 > 0:03:12turning things increasingly wet and windy,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15but those winds beginning to come in from a south-westerly direction,

0:03:15 > 0:03:18so that might just lift the temperatures a little bit.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21So through next week, as our high pressure tries to work in,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23it'll turn drier for a time, rather cool initially,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25rain returning later,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27but as that happens,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29those temperatures coming up a bit,

0:03:29 > 0:03:30so changeable in the coming days.

0:03:33 > 0:03:3630 vocal groups clashed in choral combat -

0:03:36 > 0:03:38six survivors now face their toughest battles yet

0:03:38 > 0:03:40in the live final.

0:03:40 > 0:03:41# Going to take this night... #

0:03:41 > 0:03:43I want to, like, hang out with you guys.
