0:00:02 > 0:00:05It's been quite a dramatic day on the weather front today.

0:00:05 > 0:00:07Lots of contrasts in the weather

0:00:07 > 0:00:09from some sunshine in the north of Scotland

0:00:09 > 0:00:12to downpours across the south of the UK

0:00:12 > 0:00:15and all brought by this area of low pressure

0:00:15 > 0:00:17and actually brought some pretty exciting weather

0:00:17 > 0:00:19just off the south coast of Sussex.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22We had a report and then a picture sent in

0:00:22 > 0:00:23of a marine equivalent

0:00:23 > 0:00:24of a tornado,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26otherwise known as a water spout,

0:00:26 > 0:00:27and you can see it here.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29If you squint, you can just about

0:00:29 > 0:00:31make out the funnel, which reaches

0:00:31 > 0:00:32right up into the cloud

0:00:32 > 0:00:34and they're very narrow weather systems.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37They're only maybe 10m across, winds of 70mph -

0:00:37 > 0:00:39still pretty dramatic weather

0:00:39 > 0:00:41and just shows how active the weather is

0:00:41 > 0:00:43across the UK right now.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45The low pressure that brought us the unsettled weather

0:00:45 > 0:00:47during the course of Saturday

0:00:47 > 0:00:48is still very much with us on Sunday.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50It does mean, though,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51that the morning is going to be sunny,

0:00:51 > 0:00:53but with the low pressure over us,

0:00:53 > 0:00:54the clouds will be growing through the morning

0:00:54 > 0:00:56into the afternoon

0:00:56 > 0:00:58and then we'll see more showers developing,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00but I suspect across these more southern

0:01:00 > 0:01:02and south-eastern areas of the UK as well as the Midlands,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04it is going to be a slightly better day

0:01:04 > 0:01:07compared to what we had on Saturday.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10Then that takes us into the early hours of Monday.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12The low pressure starts to pull away.

0:01:12 > 0:01:13It's around about here,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15around Belgium, Luxembourg.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17We're on the edge of the area of low pressure

0:01:17 > 0:01:19so that means that winds will be coming in

0:01:19 > 0:01:22from the north across this part of the country here.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24Still close by, the low,

0:01:24 > 0:01:25so still driving the weather

0:01:25 > 0:01:26anywhere from the north coast

0:01:26 > 0:01:28of England through East Anglia,

0:01:28 > 0:01:29down into the south-east.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31So these areas on Monday

0:01:31 > 0:01:33still cloudy at times with some rain,

0:01:33 > 0:01:34whereas western areas,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36the weather sort of opening up here.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38We're getting more sunshine,

0:01:38 > 0:01:39more dry weather,

0:01:39 > 0:01:40but only a short window of opportunity

0:01:40 > 0:01:42because the weather, the settled weather

0:01:42 > 0:01:44isn't going to last for very long.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Very pleasant on Monday. Look at that,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48temperatures of 23 degrees there in Glasgow,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50but you can see that on Tuesday,

0:01:50 > 0:01:51weather systems are already

0:01:51 > 0:01:53starting to line-up in the Atlantic

0:01:53 > 0:01:55so it does look as though Tuesday overall

0:01:55 > 0:01:58across the UK is going to be

0:01:58 > 0:02:00the best day of the week ahead

0:02:00 > 0:02:03and then the weather fronts start marching in

0:02:03 > 0:02:04so by the time we get to Wednesday,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06they're right on top of us,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08particularly across western areas of the UK here,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10so that spells outbreaks of rain

0:02:10 > 0:02:12and, in fact, it does look as though

0:02:12 > 0:02:14next week is going to be changeable,

0:02:14 > 0:02:15unsettled from day to day

0:02:15 > 0:02:17so we have one weather front crossing the country

0:02:17 > 0:02:19during the course of Wednesday,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21moving through Wednesday night into Thursday,

0:02:21 > 0:02:22then it looks as though

0:02:22 > 0:02:24there'll be another gap in the weather

0:02:24 > 0:02:26and we'll see a slightly better day on Thursday.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28So, Thursday's weather forecast

0:02:28 > 0:02:31is looking a little bit drier,

0:02:31 > 0:02:32a little bit brighter,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34particularly across these western areas of the UK,

0:02:34 > 0:02:35temperatures around 18

0:02:35 > 0:02:37to perhaps the low 20s there,

0:02:37 > 0:02:39depending on how much sunshine we're going to get

0:02:39 > 0:02:41and then towards the end of the week,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43the jet stream starts to build.

0:02:43 > 0:02:44It's right over us

0:02:44 > 0:02:46so it's going to be sending

0:02:46 > 0:02:47yet another weather system in our direction

0:02:47 > 0:02:49so certainly by Friday,

0:02:49 > 0:02:50it looks as though Friday and Saturday,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53there will be low pressures coming in into the UK,

0:02:53 > 0:02:54but high pressure tries to build,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56this bump in the high pressure tries to build

0:02:56 > 0:02:58into southern areas of the UK

0:02:58 > 0:03:01so always a bit more settled across the south

0:03:01 > 0:03:02so the most unsettled weather

0:03:02 > 0:03:05with the most likely outcome of cloud and rain

0:03:05 > 0:03:07is in the north-west,

0:03:07 > 0:03:08whereas in the south,

0:03:08 > 0:03:09perhaps broken cloud,

0:03:09 > 0:03:12a little bit warmer with some sunshine.

0:03:12 > 0:03:13So, really, the outlook here

0:03:13 > 0:03:15is we're not expecting

0:03:15 > 0:03:17any sustained period of warmth

0:03:17 > 0:03:18or anything like that.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20It is going to stay mostly unsettled,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22mostly changeable

0:03:22 > 0:03:24with temperatures a little below par for some of us

0:03:24 > 0:03:27and even rather on the cool side.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28That's it from me. Bye-bye.

0:03:35 > 0:03:36# I love my baby... #
