0:00:03 > 0:00:06Summer is on hold, I think we will all agree with that.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08The weekend was far from ideal.

0:00:08 > 0:00:12In some cases, absolutely tipping it down. A bit of a wash-out.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14Sunday, not a great day

0:00:14 > 0:00:15across eastern Scotland.

0:00:15 > 0:00:16Here is a picture from Fife.

0:00:16 > 0:00:17But further south,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20a nice picture coming in from Shropshire here.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22So we did have some fine weather around.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25It really wasn't pouring with rain everywhere.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27You can see how very hit and miss the weather was on Sunday.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Rain in the north, rain and the south

0:00:29 > 0:00:32and lots of showers in the centre of this low pressure.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35Very changeable weekend. How is the week ahead looking?

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Again it is going to be quite changeable

0:00:37 > 0:00:39and we've got some wet weather on the way.

0:00:39 > 0:00:43Wednesday is set to be the wettest day of the week.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46By the end of Monday, we would have seen that low pressure that has been

0:00:46 > 0:00:48drifting over us very slowly

0:00:48 > 0:00:51finally pull away towards the east.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55But still bringing some residual rain to these eastern counties

0:00:55 > 0:00:58and a bit of wind coming in from the north as well.

0:00:58 > 0:01:02Whereas the weather improving across many western parts of the UK

0:01:02 > 0:01:05and that really sets the scene for Monday itself.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08There is going to be a very big contrast between the weather

0:01:08 > 0:01:09we're going to have in the east

0:01:09 > 0:01:12and the weather we're going to have in the west.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16On Monday, lots of sunshine across many western areas of the UK.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18Really a beautiful day from Cornwall through Devon

0:01:18 > 0:01:22and Wales into Scotland, eventually northern England too.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26Very warm here, temperatures could get up to around 24 or 25.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Whereas further east from Hull into East Anglia

0:01:28 > 0:01:32and down to the south-east, it is probably going to stay cloudy

0:01:32 > 0:01:35with spots of rain on and off through the course of the day.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Later on Monday, Monday night and into Tuesday,

0:01:38 > 0:01:42that low finally pushes out into the continent

0:01:42 > 0:01:46and we've got this brief window of better weather before the next

0:01:46 > 0:01:49weather systems start racing in off the Atlantic.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52So overall, Tuesday is going to be the best

0:01:52 > 0:01:56day of the week across the UK on the whole.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Tuesday night into Wednesday,

0:01:58 > 0:02:01we start to see the jet stream intensifying across the Atlantic

0:02:01 > 0:02:04and pushing these weather fronts in our direction.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Quite a nasty low heading our way for Wednesday.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08So our gardens will get another good watering.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11Look at all this rain piling in through Northern Ireland,

0:02:11 > 0:02:14the west and eventually reaching eastern areas

0:02:14 > 0:02:17later in the day on Wednesday.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18So that is a middle of the week.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Wednesday night, that weather front pushes through

0:02:20 > 0:02:23out into the North Sea and the continent.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Behind it, quite a few isobars there.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27That means that the winds will pick up,

0:02:27 > 0:02:30so I think on Thursday, quite a brisk day,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32a really fresh day throughout the UK.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34Windy across these coastal areas, particularly in the west,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36but there will be a lot of bright weather.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39So overall, actually, Wednesday not looking that bad at all.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41Friday might be a fine day as well.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44You can see behind me, that is the next weather system coming in.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47That is the next spell of rain that is going to be sweeping

0:02:47 > 0:02:51across the UK during the course of Friday and into the weekend.

0:02:51 > 0:02:52So Saturday and Sunday,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55we're going to see a big low pressure dominating

0:02:55 > 0:02:58the weather across this portion of the Atlantic

0:02:58 > 0:03:01and that basically means unsettled conditions heading our way.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03So into next weekend,

0:03:03 > 0:03:06most of us can expect some rainfall,

0:03:06 > 0:03:07not necessarily all the time.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09There's just a hint,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11only a hint that the far south-east of the country,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13so we're talking about central southern England,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15maybe London possibly Essex, Suffolk,

0:03:15 > 0:03:19those sort of areas could just about hang onto dry weather.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23Then, the following week, guess what?

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Summer is still on hold.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27It is staying unsettled with low-pressure

0:03:27 > 0:03:29and those blustery conditions.

0:03:29 > 0:03:30Thanks for watching.

0:03:36 > 0:03:37You need to let me in.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39I've got a bit of a reputation.

0:03:39 > 0:03:40They're going to kill us. GUNSHOT
