0:00:00 > 0:00:04Hello there. I've seen the weather charts for the next ten days,

0:00:04 > 0:00:07and if you're after something dry, warm, settled,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09you might want to head into Southern Europe.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11For us, things very, very changeable.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13Probably the highest temperatures we'll see

0:00:13 > 0:00:14were through the first part of the week.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17On Tuesday we saw temperatures reach 25, 26 degrees

0:00:17 > 0:00:19across Shropshire and Herefordshire.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21Bit of sunshine around for most.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24And while we will see sunshine on Wednesday,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26rain will start to become a little bit more of a player.

0:00:26 > 0:00:30Wet and windy weather, too, driven in by this area of low pressure

0:00:30 > 0:00:32which will dominate the charts for the rest of the week.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34The first punch from it are these weather fronts

0:00:34 > 0:00:36which brings a wet start to Wednesday

0:00:36 > 0:00:39across much of Ireland, Western Scotland, western England and Wales.

0:00:39 > 0:00:43Particularly heavy bursts of rain on the northern flank of that system.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46Strong and gusty winds, too. Bright start through eastern England,

0:00:46 > 0:00:48cloud and occasional lighter, patchier rain

0:00:48 > 0:00:50pushes here through the afternoon.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52But if you really want to get something done,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54in the west, hold fire.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57Take a lazy breakfast, enjoy it, and then get out into the afternoon.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00Sunny spells for many, a few showers in Western Scotland

0:01:00 > 0:01:02and Northern Ireland. But temperatures down -

0:01:02 > 0:01:04at best high teens, low 20s.

0:01:04 > 0:01:05There's low pressure through the night

0:01:05 > 0:01:07to take us into Thursday.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Strongest wind will be in Western Scotland, Northern Ireland -

0:01:09 > 0:01:12close to that low pressure, the showers most frequent.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Northern Ireland and Scotland could see some thunderstorms with it.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17England and Wales starts off on fresh but dry and bright note.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20The shower clouds will bubble up, they'll push through in the breeze.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24Some of you will avoid them but if you see them it'll feel a bit cool.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Temperatures down on what it should be for the time of year,

0:01:27 > 0:01:30mid to high teens at the very best for many of you.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33There's little change through Thursday night into Friday.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36That low pressure is stuck. It's just revolving around

0:01:36 > 0:01:38like an old sock in a washing machine,

0:01:38 > 0:01:40still throwing in the showers across

0:01:40 > 0:01:43parts of Western Scotland and Northern Ireland in particular.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Occasional showers for England and Wales.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47We're at the time of year, of course, strong sun overhead,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49some of you will avoid the showers.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51Showers may only form a small portion of your day.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53But later on, there is something

0:01:53 > 0:01:55a bit more sinister down towards the south-west.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58This is an area of low pressure which brought some pretty wet

0:01:58 > 0:02:01conditions across Washington, the eastern US, though last weekend.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Friday night into Saturday morning,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06some very lively bursts of rain to go with it,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09but it does clear out the way, it looks like, for daytime,

0:02:09 > 0:02:12so it's basically what you're seeing on Friday.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15Sunshine, showers most frequent in Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18few showers for England and Wales, bit more sunshine,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20but temperatures nothing really to shout about.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Through Saturday night into Sunday, though,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25our low pressure is joined by another cousin,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27works its way in, which may merge the showers into

0:02:27 > 0:02:31longer spells of rain for Northern Ireland and also across Scotland.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35It will drag in milder air for England and Wales eventually.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37A bit more cloud in the west, brighter in the east.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Just have to watch the potential weather system

0:02:40 > 0:02:41through the English Channel

0:02:41 > 0:02:44which will maybe produce heavier rain later in the day.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47Overall, the story for the weekend summed up in one picture -

0:02:47 > 0:02:51sunshine, showers, a good few rainbows around, I think, for many.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53As we go into the following week, little changes.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56If you take a look at the jet stream picture,

0:02:56 > 0:02:57it's quite a strong jet stream

0:02:57 > 0:03:00which dives to the south of the UK through the Bay of Biscay.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03We're always north of it, so always in the cooler air.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06With it as well we'll see areas of low pressure,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08generally to the west of the country.

0:03:08 > 0:03:12It will bring some brief glimpses of warmth potentially next week,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15but it's going to be that changeable pattern we've seen this week.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16We'll see a bit of sunshine,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19there'll be some spells of wet and windy weather

0:03:19 > 0:03:20particularly to the north and west,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23but overall, temperatures, certainly in the wetter times,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26will be on the cool side rather than above average.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29We'll keep you updated over the coming days. Bye for now.
