0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello there. The weather charts for the next ten days

0:00:04 > 0:00:06don't exactly scream summer scorcher to me,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08and even as we head deeper into August,

0:00:08 > 0:00:09there's increasing uncertainty,

0:00:09 > 0:00:11maybe dictated by what's happening

0:00:11 > 0:00:13out in the Pacific at the moment.

0:00:13 > 0:00:14Over the past few days,

0:00:14 > 0:00:17we've had as many as six storms at any one time.

0:00:17 > 0:00:18They will have different impacts

0:00:18 > 0:00:20on the jet stream to the north of the Pacific.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22The impacts they have

0:00:22 > 0:00:24will ultimately impact our jet stream.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25Which, at the moment, I think,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27for many of you over the coming days

0:00:27 > 0:00:28could do with a bit of a shake up,

0:00:28 > 0:00:30because it's setting its stall.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32It's taking a staycation for the UK, I think,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34over the next few days.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35Mainly to the south of the UK.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37That puts us on the cooler side of the jet,

0:00:37 > 0:00:39so temperatures lower than they should be.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41This sort of weather chart will become typical

0:00:41 > 0:00:43with low pressure centred to the northwest of us.

0:00:43 > 0:00:44So this is it for Thursday.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Low pressure there off the coast

0:00:46 > 0:00:47of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Windiest conditions close to that low pressure system.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51Showers to begin the day here.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Elsewhere, dry start to Thursday,

0:00:53 > 0:00:54but the shower clouds get going,

0:00:54 > 0:00:57pushing from west to east on quite a brisk breeze.

0:00:57 > 0:00:58The breeze means the showers push through,

0:00:58 > 0:01:01so at any one spot, maybe only a short space of time

0:01:01 > 0:01:02through the day,

0:01:02 > 0:01:03you see the wettest of the weather.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05One or two just about avoiding the showers.

0:01:05 > 0:01:06You'd be very lucky if you do.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Temperatures with the showers come through,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10down on what they should be -

0:01:10 > 0:01:11mid-teens for some of you.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13Then keep an eye on this.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15This will be rumbling around the southern portion

0:01:15 > 0:01:17of our driving low pressure system for Friday.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19That dictates the weather to begin with.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Frequent showers to the north and west.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Gusty winds as well - touching gale force across

0:01:23 > 0:01:25the Highlands and the Hebrides.

0:01:25 > 0:01:26Bit of a breeze further south,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28but the showers through the morning suppressed

0:01:28 > 0:01:30as that little developing area of low pressure

0:01:30 > 0:01:31pushes its way in,

0:01:31 > 0:01:32bringing more prolonged rain

0:01:32 > 0:01:34across Wales and southern England.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Maybe the Midlands by the time we end Friday.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Some heavier bursts of rain to go with that.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39That will work its way eastwards

0:01:39 > 0:01:41across much of England

0:01:41 > 0:01:42as we finish Friday

0:01:42 > 0:01:43and go through Friday night.

0:01:43 > 0:01:44It could be quite a wet spell

0:01:44 > 0:01:46for England and Wales.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Notice our low pressure system doesn't move.

0:01:48 > 0:01:49Then another little system

0:01:49 > 0:01:51pushing around the southern flank of it.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53That should hopefully stay clear for Saturday.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Saturday back forward to a more straight-forward

0:01:55 > 0:01:57picture of sunshine and showers.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59As that weather front clears away for Saturday,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01it may help to keep away some of the showers

0:02:01 > 0:02:02from East Anglia and the southeast.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04Stops the shower clouds from bubbling up,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06so some longer drier spells here.

0:02:06 > 0:02:07Pleasant enough in the sunshine.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10It's crucial just how close that weather front is to us

0:02:10 > 0:02:12as we go into Sunday.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15That system I showed running around, driving low,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18could bring further showers into the west through Sunday.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20East Anglia and southeast,

0:02:20 > 0:02:21you might just about get away with it.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Sunshine and showers really across the board once again.

0:02:24 > 0:02:25It's that story of some of you

0:02:25 > 0:02:27just about avoiding them,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29some may stay part of the day dry.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31When the showers come through,

0:02:31 > 0:02:32it will feel distinctly cool.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34Less potency to our low pressure system

0:02:34 > 0:02:36as we go through into Monday.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38In fact, the wind's not as strong.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40There will still be some showers around,

0:02:40 > 0:02:41but with the winds less strong,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43it means they'll be slower moving.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45They'll be with you for a longer spell of time.

0:02:45 > 0:02:46But it does mean more of you

0:02:46 > 0:02:48will avoid the showers through the day.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Once you do, that strong chance of sunshine overhead

0:02:50 > 0:02:52should make up for the rather cool air mass that's with us.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55But, really, as we go into next week,

0:02:55 > 0:02:56little changes.

0:02:56 > 0:02:57The jet stream is still with us.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59It probably has a bit more of a meandering pattern.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01That could mean that low pressures get stuck

0:03:01 > 0:03:02to the west of us a bit more.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04We might drag in slightly warmer air

0:03:04 > 0:03:05every now and again,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08but overall the story is the same into next week

0:03:08 > 0:03:10with low pressure close by.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12Yes, we will see the sunshine at times.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14It's August sunshine, strong sunshine.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16That will add a bit of warmth to the days,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18but throughout we'll have to be on guard

0:03:18 > 0:03:20for further spells of rain.

0:03:20 > 0:03:21The breeze picking up at times.

0:03:21 > 0:03:22When there's showers,

0:03:22 > 0:03:23the breeze is with you.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Temperatures for early August

0:03:25 > 0:03:26a little bit on the disappointing side.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29Darren will keep you updated tomorrow. Bye for now.
