0:00:00 > 0:00:04Hello there. Looks like remaining very changeable this month,

0:00:04 > 0:00:07and well into next month as well. Let's not forget, though,

0:00:07 > 0:00:10at this time of the year, when the sun does come out,

0:00:10 > 0:00:13it will feel warm, as it did in between the showers here

0:00:13 > 0:00:15in Stevenage in Hertfordshire on Thursday.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17But the showers are never too far away.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20They came all of a sudden with some hail and thunder -

0:00:20 > 0:00:23a good day for spotting some rainbows.

0:00:23 > 0:00:24Lots of showers, then, earlier on.

0:00:24 > 0:00:28The one constant over the next few days is going to be

0:00:28 > 0:00:30this area of low pressure to the north-west of Scotland,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32and around the base of that low pressure

0:00:32 > 0:00:34we're going to feed in these clusters of cloud

0:00:34 > 0:00:36that will bring us some spells of rain.

0:00:36 > 0:00:40Now, we start the day generally dry across England and Wales

0:00:40 > 0:00:43with some sunshine in the morning. It looks like it will cloud over

0:00:43 > 0:00:46and we'll start to see some rain arriving from the south-west.

0:00:46 > 0:00:50The timing, the northward extent of the rain still in doubt.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52Showers more likely further north,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54especially across Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:00:54 > 0:00:56but warm enough in the sunshine.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Temperatures in eastern England 21 or so.

0:00:58 > 0:01:02But that rain looks like it will develop more widely quite quickly,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04that first pulse of rain in those weather systems

0:01:04 > 0:01:07driving across much of England and Wales,

0:01:07 > 0:01:10quite heavy rain for a while, but it doesn't last too long,

0:01:10 > 0:01:13and we've still got that area of low pressure to the north-west.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15There is still a trailing area of rain

0:01:15 > 0:01:18that at the moment looks like it's mainly out in the English Channel,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20but it's likely to come back in again,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22not just in the extreme south-east of England

0:01:22 > 0:01:24but for many southern areas too.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27And then there's a slice of much drier weather for the weekend

0:01:27 > 0:01:29for Wales, the Midlands, Northern England,

0:01:29 > 0:01:32where there'll be very few showers, some warm sunshine.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34Showers more likely across Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37where they'll be closer to that persistent area of low pressure.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40This weather system here has got to get its act together,

0:01:40 > 0:01:42probably, again, as we head into the evening,

0:01:42 > 0:01:46to push some heavier rain eastwards across England and Wales.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Again, it doesn't last too long.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Again, we've still got that area of low pressure.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53So whilst we see the back of the overnight rain,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55we're going to start the day with lots of showers out to the west,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57some heavy, with some hail and thunder,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00and those showers will push their way eastwards through the day,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03where temperatures could get as high as 21 Celsius or so.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06That low pressure still there towards the north-west -

0:02:06 > 0:02:09if anything, it's drifting closer to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13Around the southern edge of that, there'll be some blustery winds,

0:02:13 > 0:02:14but probably not that many showers

0:02:14 > 0:02:17across the bulk of England and Wales. Some sunshine here.

0:02:17 > 0:02:22But slower-moving, heavier showers for Northern Ireland, Scotland,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24and perhaps the far north of England

0:02:24 > 0:02:27where temperatures are again struggling to 17 or 18 degrees.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29And even into Tuesday,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31there'll still be a mixture of sunshine and showers.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Again, some heavier ones towards the north-west,

0:02:34 > 0:02:38but this time, we could see more showers across England and Wales.

0:02:38 > 0:02:39And those temperatures again,

0:02:39 > 0:02:4217 in the north, 22, perhaps, in the south-east.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45There's a ridge of high pressure tantalisingly close,

0:02:45 > 0:02:49however, this is more dominant as we head into the middle of next week.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51Big area of low pressure coming in from the Atlantic

0:02:51 > 0:02:53and more waiting in the wings too.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56So as we head further into next week,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58we've got the jet stream in this sort of position.

0:02:58 > 0:03:02Most of the UK is going to be on the cooler side of that jet stream,

0:03:02 > 0:03:05and the jet stream will pick up these areas of low pressure

0:03:05 > 0:03:07and drive them across the UK.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10So what does that mean? Well, basically it means

0:03:10 > 0:03:13it's going to remain very mixed. We'll alternate, probably,

0:03:13 > 0:03:17between days of sunshine and showers, which could be quite heavy,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20whereas other days will see some spells of rain

0:03:20 > 0:03:22and for much of the time it may be quite windy

0:03:22 > 0:03:25and it will stay on the rather cool side as well.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28Not what we would hope for or expect at this time of the year.
