0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. There is a glimmer of hope on the horizon,

0:00:04 > 0:00:06but before we get there,

0:00:06 > 0:00:10much of the forecast is going to be dominated by low pressure,

0:00:10 > 0:00:13and the dominant low pressure over the next few days

0:00:13 > 0:00:15is going to remain as it is right now

0:00:15 > 0:00:18towards the north-west of the UK. Around the base of that low pressure

0:00:18 > 0:00:20we're seeing these waving weather fronts

0:00:20 > 0:00:22bringing pulses of cloud and rain.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24One area of rain overnight,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27never really clears away from the southern coast of England

0:00:27 > 0:00:29and starts to push northwards again on Saturday.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31For much of the day, Wales, Midlands,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33East Anglia and Northern England

0:00:33 > 0:00:35just seeing one or two showers and some sunshine,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37the better day of the weekend.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39And back northwards, closer to the low pressure,

0:00:39 > 0:00:42we've still got the showers, particularly in Scotland -

0:00:42 > 0:00:44some heavy ones here, and those temperatures very similar

0:00:44 > 0:00:45to the past few days.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48Now, this rain is developing, it's on this weather front here.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51The wave on it is responsible for the developing rain

0:00:51 > 0:00:54which looks like it will push northwards into England and Wales

0:00:54 > 0:00:56on Saturday evening. Overnight,

0:00:56 > 0:00:58it sweeps away with some stronger winds.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01We still have that low pressure towards the north-west.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04So we're back to square one, almost, on Sunday - sunshine and showers.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Initially quite a few showers across western areas, some of them heavy,

0:01:07 > 0:01:10with some hail and thunder, and those should push their way

0:01:10 > 0:01:12eastwards through the day on that freshening breeze.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Probably not that many showers

0:01:14 > 0:01:16across the south-east corner of England,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18and it's here we'll see the best temperatures.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Otherwise, 17 or 18 degrees - not that impressive

0:01:21 > 0:01:22for this time of the year.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26Still got low pressure in charge, not just on Sunday

0:01:26 > 0:01:28but into Monday as well,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30and it's sitting very close to Scotland and Northern Ireland

0:01:30 > 0:01:33around the base of that. There's still some stronger winds

0:01:33 > 0:01:35across England and Wales in particular,

0:01:35 > 0:01:39where we could see a few showers, particularly across North Wales

0:01:39 > 0:01:41and north-west England,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44and probably more showers to come across Scotland and Northern Ireland

0:01:44 > 0:01:46closer to the centre of that low pressure.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49Again, temperatures 17 to about 22 degrees,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52those numbers not really changing very much over the next few days.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55Low pressure still around as we head into Tuesday, but it's filling.

0:01:55 > 0:01:59You can get a sense of that because the number of isobars is reducing

0:01:59 > 0:02:01so pressure is rising across that low.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03So the area's less unstable,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06so whilst we'll find a mixture of sunshine and showers on Tuesday,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09the showers should be fewer, the showers should be lighter,

0:02:09 > 0:02:12more places will be dry, and it may start to feel

0:02:12 > 0:02:14just a little bit warmer as well.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Now, there is some warmer air trying to come our way

0:02:17 > 0:02:18from the near-Continent.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21Trouble is, whilst many eastern areas on Wednesday may be dry

0:02:21 > 0:02:24with some sunshine, out to the west we've got freshening winds

0:02:24 > 0:02:26and some rain on the way.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29And that's because it's a big area of low pressure heading our way.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33That will push some wetter, windier weather across all areas

0:02:33 > 0:02:36around the middle part of the week, and then the low pressure

0:02:36 > 0:02:39will sit very close to Scotland for a few days after that.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Recently, we've had a jet stream in this sort of position,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44and that's where it's going to be later on next week,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47hence low pressure, hence not particularly warm,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49and hence the threat of some rain.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52But we're going to find this jet stream buckling,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55more amplification, and probably heading northwards,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57so the lower pressure we've got in the middle of the week

0:02:57 > 0:02:59by next weekend fades away

0:02:59 > 0:03:02and slowly but surely, coming in from the south-west,

0:03:02 > 0:03:05it looks like we'll see an area of high pressure building.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08How quickly, and how far north it gets,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10that's difficult to say at this stage.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12We'll have a better idea over the coming few days.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15But the weather will change - we'll see less of this,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17like we saw actually on Friday, heavy showers

0:03:17 > 0:03:20and some thunderstorms, and a bit more of this.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22There was some sunshine around on Friday.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24We'll see more of that next weekend,

0:03:24 > 0:03:26and of course, with the sunshine, it should feel a bit warmer.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29That's it from me - enjoy your weekend.
