0:00:02 > 0:00:05Let's see what the weather is up to over the next few days.

0:00:05 > 0:00:09It's been a while since the weather was nice and settled

0:00:09 > 0:00:11and sunny, warm and dry.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14It's been very unsettled in the last few days

0:00:14 > 0:00:17and the rest of the weekend and into next week looks no different.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19This was earlier on on Saturday,

0:00:19 > 0:00:23a weather front pushed in from the south bringing some heavy rain.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25By the time we get to Sunday lunchtime the

0:00:25 > 0:00:27low pressure is out

0:00:27 > 0:00:31in the North Sea and in the wake of that low we've got a stream of quite

0:00:31 > 0:00:33strongish winds.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Quite blustery conditions and lots of showers

0:00:35 > 0:00:37so showers galore on Sunday.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40Some of them will be heavy, one or two might be torrential,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42maybe some cracks of thunder.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45But some across the south-east may miss them altogether

0:00:45 > 0:00:47and it ends up being a fine day,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49for example, in Kent and Sussex.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Sunday night into Monday,

0:00:51 > 0:00:55still some showers around carried by that south-westerly breeze.

0:00:55 > 0:00:59Most of them will be in western areas, eastern areas will be dryer.

0:00:59 > 0:01:03So that's the end of the weekend. How about the week ahead?

0:01:03 > 0:01:04Guess what, more showers on the way.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07It's going to stay on the cool side

0:01:07 > 0:01:10and will also be on the breezy side as well.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Let's have a look at the forecast map for Monday.

0:01:12 > 0:01:13Low pressure still in charge,

0:01:13 > 0:01:16in fact that was the one over the weekend.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18This is linked to it, another one coming in.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Effecting northern parts of Scotland in particular here.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25Most of the showers will be in the north and north-western areas but

0:01:25 > 0:01:28throughout the day we'll see further ones getting into south-western

0:01:28 > 0:01:31parts of England, through the Midlands into northern England

0:01:31 > 0:01:34and again we could see one or two cracks of thunder here or there.

0:01:34 > 0:01:38Overall it is going to be a relatively fine

0:01:38 > 0:01:41day for most of us, if you miss the showers.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Monday a little unsettled but could be worse.

0:01:44 > 0:01:49Monday night into Tuesday that low pressure starts to pull away.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52The weather will start to settle down ahead of this next one

0:01:52 > 0:01:56here so almost a window of slightly better weather to come on Tuesday.

0:01:56 > 0:01:57Still some showers around.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59The best of the weather, I suspect, will be

0:01:59 > 0:02:02around the eastern counties, East Anglia and the south-east.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06It will feel warmest here too because the winds will be lighter.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08On balance a decent enough day.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11Tuesday night into Wednesday that low pressure

0:02:11 > 0:02:15out in the Atlantic starts to nudge in but it's still quite far away.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17It will take time before it nudges in

0:02:17 > 0:02:20so by the time we get to the middle part of the day,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23the rain starts moving into Wales, south-western parts of England so

0:02:23 > 0:02:28many of these counties having a bit of brightness before this

0:02:28 > 0:02:34rain piles through into Thursday and Thursday morning looks like

0:02:34 > 0:02:37the main area of rain is eastern Scotland out into the North Sea.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41Then we've got this blustery wind once again bringing some showers.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Low pressure very much in charge of our weather as we go through

0:02:44 > 0:02:46the course of the week.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Into the weekend looks like things are settling down.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Looks like there's a high pressure here.

0:02:50 > 0:02:54Actually the jet stream is right over us during the course

0:02:54 > 0:02:56of the weekend so that spells

0:02:56 > 0:02:59unsettled weather once again.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01Be prepared for some showers

0:03:01 > 0:03:02through the weekend.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04There are hints that as we go

0:03:04 > 0:03:06beyond that, low pressures will be

0:03:06 > 0:03:09steered to the north and high pressure will start to build

0:03:09 > 0:03:10and that's mostly good news.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13If you want dry and sunny weather this is good news.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17So things look like they will finally be settling down.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19How dominant this high is going to be,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22how much it will be an influence across the UK is a little bit

0:03:22 > 0:03:25too uncertain but the basic message is the best

0:03:25 > 0:03:29of the weather will be in the south, always a few showers in the north.
