0:00:02 > 0:00:04Well, it's been quite a turbulent few days on the weather front,

0:00:04 > 0:00:07lots of vicious showers, gusty winds as well,

0:00:07 > 0:00:11and quite often in our climate, once the weather gets going across

0:00:11 > 0:00:14the Atlantic, once we develop this really unsettled weather,

0:00:14 > 0:00:15with lots of low pressures coming in,

0:00:15 > 0:00:18it often stays like that for a while.

0:00:18 > 0:00:22So, Sunday, we will have seen lots of showers across the country.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24Here's a satellite image from earlier on,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26with the low pressure to the north-west of us,

0:00:26 > 0:00:27and the reason why I'm showing this to you is

0:00:27 > 0:00:30because on Monday we're going to see a very similar picture.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33But also were going to get some sunshine just like on Sunday,

0:00:33 > 0:00:38so Monday will also bring blue skies, not just big downpours.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41So I've already set the scene as far as this week is concerned.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44There's no real sign of prolonged dry weather.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46And the reason for it is that Jet stream,

0:00:46 > 0:00:49very powerful jet stream, that sends weather systems in our direction.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52And, actually, these low pressures have origins just off the eastern

0:00:52 > 0:00:56seaboard of the United States there, and also Canada,

0:00:56 > 0:01:00and that jet stream, for as long it's making a beeline for the UK,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03that's when we get those weather systems coming in.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05So let's have a closer look then across our part of the world,

0:01:05 > 0:01:07here's Monday's weather forecast.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10So, low pressure - still the same one that we will have had on Sunday,

0:01:10 > 0:01:13still to the north-west of our neighbourhood, generating

0:01:13 > 0:01:16some showers, even through the early hours of Monday morning.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18And actually in some spots pretty chilly.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Temperatures in rural areas, first thing on Monday,

0:01:20 > 0:01:21around five degrees.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23But we often show you the towns and cities.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26So here's Monday morning, then.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Start's off actually really sunny across many eastern,

0:01:28 > 0:01:29central and southern areas.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32A fair old breeze around these coastal areas here,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34and with that low pressure, for as long as it's here,

0:01:34 > 0:01:38those showers will keep being blown in by that wind

0:01:38 > 0:01:41and some of them heavy and thundery as well.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44Now, as far as the temperatures go, actually, they're not that bad.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47In London, the average is 23. We're getting 23 on Monday.

0:01:47 > 0:01:52In Belfast, the average is 19. And we are forecasting 19 on Monday.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55So when I say that summer's on hold, it really is -

0:01:55 > 0:01:58the dry and sunny weather that we'd like that's on hold.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Temperatures are about where they should be.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02So here's Tuesday's weather forecast.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05There is little area of low pressure across northern Scotland

0:02:05 > 0:02:06and parts of northern Ireland.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09This is where we will see most of the showers on Tuesday.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13But perhaps a bit of a break from the showers across some south...

0:02:13 > 0:02:17central and south-eastern areas. But still maybe a few sneaking through.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20And then it changes on Wednesday because we have a bigger area,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22a more substantial area of low pressure on the way.

0:02:22 > 0:02:23What does that mean?

0:02:23 > 0:02:26That means extensive cloud and continuous outbreaks of rain,

0:02:26 > 0:02:29rather than on and off showers,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31moving into south-western parts of England, Wales,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33and then eventually Northern Ireland.

0:02:33 > 0:02:34This is really early in the morning.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36And then quickly through the afternoon,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38that rain is going to be spreading towards eastern areas.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41So perhaps Hull and Newcastle hanging onto some of that

0:02:41 > 0:02:43sunshine early in the day.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45And then Wednesday night into Thursday,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48that weather front will have pushed through the UK,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51and then behind it, again, we've got showers and a fair old wind as well.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54So that's Thursday. How about the end of the week?

0:02:54 > 0:02:57I showed you the jet stream at the start. Here's the jet stream.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59Again you can see it's making a beeline for the UK,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01so once again any sort of disturbances in the weather forming

0:03:01 > 0:03:05across the Atlantic will be shunted in our direction straightaway.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08And here is the weekend, next weekend, that is.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Low pressure close by, but look at this...

0:03:11 > 0:03:14we're starting to see a high pressure, possibly nosing in.

0:03:14 > 0:03:19In about 8 to 10 days' time, so beyond the following weekend.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21However, it does look as though that high pressure

0:03:21 > 0:03:22may not have a massive influence.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25It could be the case that low pressure, once again,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27returns to northern parts of the UK.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29Stay tuned.
