0:00:02 > 0:00:05It is that time again where we give you some detail about what's
0:00:05 > 0:00:08coming up on the weather front in the next few days and look a little
0:00:08 > 0:00:09further ahead.
0:00:09 > 0:00:12Let me take you back a couple of days,
0:00:12 > 0:00:15nothing wrong with that summery scene from Bridlington.
0:00:15 > 0:00:20But if I take you back to the start of Tuesday, what a transformation.
0:00:20 > 0:00:23I could sing at this point what a difference a day makes
0:00:23 > 0:00:25but I like you too much.
0:00:25 > 0:00:29Bridlington wasn't alone in experiencing a very wet Tuesday.
0:00:29 > 0:00:34It was the top of this pile and this isn't all of the figures,
0:00:34 > 0:00:38there was rain after those readings were taken.
0:00:38 > 0:00:41Coming from an active weather front tied in with an area of
0:00:41 > 0:00:42low pressure.
0:00:42 > 0:00:45The low pressure itself is migrating a bit further
0:00:45 > 0:00:48north into the heart of Scandinavia but it is leaving behind this
0:00:48 > 0:00:52weather front and a slow-moving front at that.
0:00:52 > 0:00:55It just about gets away from Birmingham in the first
0:00:55 > 0:00:58part of the day but it lingers across East Anglia and the
0:00:58 > 0:01:02south-east and because of that the Met Office have warnings out.
0:01:02 > 0:01:07We could see rainfall totals in some areas getting up to 60-80mm.
0:01:07 > 0:01:09But it's not like that everywhere.
0:01:09 > 0:01:11Many northern and western parts beginning to
0:01:11 > 0:01:14benefit from this area of high pressure.
0:01:14 > 0:01:18Which really wants to dominate the whole of the British Isles
0:01:18 > 0:01:22but you will notice it does take a time before we see the last
0:01:22 > 0:01:26of Wednesday's rainfall getting away from East Anglia and the south-east.
0:01:26 > 0:01:31Then many may well enjoy consecutive dry days and I say that with
0:01:31 > 0:01:35some relish because we haven't said it too often so far this summer.
0:01:35 > 0:01:38Can we make it three in a row? Not really.
0:01:38 > 0:01:43It's obvious a low pressure close to Iceland is throwing its fronts
0:01:43 > 0:01:45with a combination of wind
0:01:45 > 0:01:48and rain increasingly down and across all
0:01:48 > 0:01:51parts of the British Isles through Friday but it will take a
0:01:51 > 0:01:55while before it gets down into that south-eastern quarter.
0:01:56 > 0:02:01Is this variability going to continue on into the weekend?
0:02:01 > 0:02:03Thankfully, no, not really.
0:02:03 > 0:02:08Just for long enough we are going to see a build of high pressure
0:02:08 > 0:02:09moving in.
0:02:09 > 0:02:12The system from Friday will clear away from the south-east.
0:02:12 > 0:02:17It will be a mixture of dry weather and the odd passing shower.
0:02:17 > 0:02:19Not too much in the way of breeze,
0:02:19 > 0:02:22you'll notice those isobars are widely spaced.
0:02:22 > 0:02:26Here comes Sunday and again devoid of frontal systems
0:02:26 > 0:02:30so many areas could get away with another dry day.
0:02:30 > 0:02:35Lurking behind, signs of things to come
0:02:35 > 0:02:37because as we get into the start of
0:02:37 > 0:02:39next week the jet stream will take
0:02:39 > 0:02:42up this orientation and it is the
0:02:42 > 0:02:45feature that steers weather
0:02:45 > 0:02:50systems and it is pointing towards the British Isles.
0:02:50 > 0:02:54High pressure is there to be had tantalisingly close,
0:02:54 > 0:02:58just to the south but along the line of the jet stream
0:02:58 > 0:03:00and to the north,
0:03:00 > 0:03:02that's the mechanism that will steer
0:03:02 > 0:03:04these areas of low pressure close
0:03:04 > 0:03:12to us with high pressure killing the activity as they come our way.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25Because that flow is coming from a relatively cool Atlantic
0:03:25 > 0:03:29the temperatures will show no sign of a heat wave.
