0:00:02 > 0:00:04I'm sure you know how it works by now, we give

0:00:04 > 0:00:07you the next few days forecast in considerable detail

0:00:07 > 0:00:10and then take a look at what's coming our way

0:00:10 > 0:00:14from about the middle of next week on towards the end of the week.

0:00:14 > 0:00:18Wednesday offered up some really lovely weather across northern

0:00:18 > 0:00:20and western parts of the British Isles.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Speckled cloud for the most part,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25a complete contrast as I drag you further south

0:00:25 > 0:00:30and east where we become entangled with quite an active weather front.

0:00:30 > 0:00:34It was that miserable across not only London

0:00:34 > 0:00:37but a portion of the south and east of the British Isles.

0:00:37 > 0:00:42The 36 hour rainfall totals to Wednesday evening.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44Many locations there pushing towards,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47if not exceeding two inches.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49When will it improve in that neck of the woods?

0:00:49 > 0:00:52As early as Thursday.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55That front will drift away towards the near continent.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57The ridge of high pressure

0:00:57 > 0:01:01topples in to become very much the dominant feature of Thursday.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Settling things down nicely.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05There will be some early rain across the far south-east

0:01:05 > 0:01:08but that heads off towards the Channel and the near continent

0:01:08 > 0:01:11leaving behind the prospect of a little cloud

0:01:11 > 0:01:12developing through the day.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Many areas will be dry.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Save perhaps for the far north and north-west of Scotland

0:01:17 > 0:01:20where increasing cloud will bring rain.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23The first signs of a change.

0:01:23 > 0:01:27That was but a transient ridge, here comes the area of low pressure.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29A lot of isobars there.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32It will be wet and windy as fronts

0:01:32 > 0:01:35head ever further south and east.

0:01:35 > 0:01:39It will be into the afternoon before we see that cloud really

0:01:39 > 0:01:41getting into East Anglia and the rain to follow.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44Does that set us up for the weekend?

0:01:44 > 0:01:45Thankfully not.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48The low pressure swings into the northern part of the Norwegian Sea,

0:01:48 > 0:01:54the trailing fronts take a time to pull away from the south-east.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58But once they do Saturday is shaping up to be a decent day.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00It isn't wall to wall sunshine

0:02:00 > 0:02:02and there are some showers to be had

0:02:02 > 0:02:05on a noticeable breeze in Scotland.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07But from Saturday, decent day,

0:02:07 > 0:02:11into Sunday that high pressure ridge is still there.

0:02:11 > 0:02:15Sunday shaping up to be a pretty decent day.

0:02:15 > 0:02:16A lot of dry weather.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Fair amount of sunshine as well.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Temperatures, nothing to write home about.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23The breeze is still coming in from the Atlantic.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26We're not getting any heat from the continent.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Topping out at 20-21.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33That ridge of high pressure is transient because as we start

0:02:33 > 0:02:37the new week a new set of weather fronts roll in from the Atlantic.

0:02:37 > 0:02:42Again there is the prospect of rain quite extensively across Britain.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44Temperatures never better than 21 or 22.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49Into the first half of the forthcoming week you

0:02:49 > 0:02:51see there is that little ridge of high pressure

0:02:51 > 0:02:55so it's not a write off to start the week.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59By the middle part of the week we'll be looking into the Atlantic and

0:02:59 > 0:03:03the signs are at the moment there could be an area of low pressure.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06I show you this sort of thing all the time and here we go again.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09New area of low pressure from the Atlantic later in the week,

0:03:09 > 0:03:10Thursday or Friday

0:03:10 > 0:03:14heading up towards that north-western corner of Scotland.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17The over all theme of the coming week looks to be...

0:03:22 > 0:03:25That low that I showed you could deliver gales if not severe gales.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28We're going to have to keep you updated on that particular feature.
