0:00:01 > 0:00:03Hello there. After the weather this weekend and the sunshine,

0:00:03 > 0:00:05you're probably thinking that

0:00:05 > 0:00:07perhaps the weather has turned a corner.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09I wish I could say it's going to settle down.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12I can show you the sunshine that we had on Sunday -

0:00:12 > 0:00:14this was a weather watcher picture in Derbyshire,

0:00:14 > 0:00:17lovely blue skies, and of course, warm in the sunshine.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21Much better day across Keswick, what a difference a day made here.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23And warmer conditions across much of northern England.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25However, over the week ahead,

0:00:25 > 0:00:28yes, there will be some sunshine around at times this week,

0:00:28 > 0:00:30but there will be some heavy showers, maybe some longer spells

0:00:30 > 0:00:32of rain, and towards the latter part of the week,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34it will be turning a little bit cooler

0:00:34 > 0:00:36as the wind starts to pick up.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39The rain is holding off until we move into Monday,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41we've got this weather system coming in

0:00:41 > 0:00:43from the Atlantic, thickening the cloud

0:00:43 > 0:00:45as we head into Monday and bringing with it

0:00:45 > 0:00:47some outbreaks of rain. The rain very quickly moving

0:00:47 > 0:00:50across Scotland, where there will be some heavy bursts of rain,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51and we'll see some patchy rain and showers

0:00:51 > 0:00:53across Northern Ireland, across western parts

0:00:53 > 0:00:55of England and Wales.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Further east, across the Midlands,

0:00:57 > 0:00:58eastern England, it may well be dry.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00There will be some hazy sunshine.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02It could be quite a warm start to the week

0:01:02 > 0:01:04in the south-east. Mid 20s, possibly.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Under the rain, stuck at 17 or 18 degrees.

0:01:07 > 0:01:08And that rain gets its act together

0:01:08 > 0:01:11towards the end of the afternoon and into the evening,

0:01:11 > 0:01:12heavier rain in the south-west and Wales,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14that will push its way through the Midlands,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17northern England, into southern and eastern Scotland.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19Showery bursts in the south-east of England,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21drying off in Northern Ireland

0:01:21 > 0:01:22and Western Scotland.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24Temperatures about 13 or 14 degrees.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27The worst of the rain just about cleared by Tuesday,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29heading out into the North Sea and the Northern Isles,

0:01:29 > 0:01:30leaving behind some showers,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32maybe some very heavy ones,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34not far from the south-east corner,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36where there's still a bit of warmth.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37But some sharp showers further north as well.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Driest weather for Wales

0:01:39 > 0:01:41and the south-west of England.

0:01:41 > 0:01:42And those showers will fade away

0:01:42 > 0:01:44very quickly during the evening,

0:01:44 > 0:01:45as we get this bump of high pressure,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47but that gets squeezed out in turn

0:01:47 > 0:01:49by a big area of low pressure that's coming

0:01:49 > 0:01:51all the way across the Atlantic

0:01:51 > 0:01:53from the north-east of the United States.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56It's making slow progress into Northern Ireland,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Wales and the south-west, cloud thickening,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00rain probably arriving during the afternoon.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Further north and east, it may well be a dry day.

0:02:02 > 0:02:03Quite cloudy, mind you,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06hazy sunshine, but a dry day nonetheless.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09The rain starts to move on overnight,

0:02:09 > 0:02:12and we'll see a band of rain pushing into northern

0:02:12 > 0:02:14and eastern areas, then generally

0:02:14 > 0:02:16out of the way for Thursday.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18But leaving behind sunshine and showers on Thursday,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20some of them could be heavy,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22possibly even thundery. There are some gusty winds

0:02:22 > 0:02:24especially towards the south-west.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26Temperatures will be a little bit lower,

0:02:26 > 0:02:28probably, by then.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29The low pressure is still around,

0:02:29 > 0:02:32sitting centre to the north-west of the UK.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34Not just Thursday, but into Friday as well,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37beginning to arrive closer to Northern Ireland.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39So we will see bands of showers,

0:02:39 > 0:02:40one area of showery rain

0:02:40 > 0:02:42clearing away from the north-east.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44Showers then following in its wake.

0:02:44 > 0:02:45Those temperatures are lower,

0:02:45 > 0:02:4816, 17 degrees across some Western parts of the UK.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Heading into the weekend,

0:02:50 > 0:02:51we've still got that area of

0:02:51 > 0:02:53low pressure, but it's shrinking,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55pulling away, so things start to dry up

0:02:55 > 0:02:57in the second half of the weekend.

0:02:57 > 0:02:58But there is another big low

0:02:58 > 0:02:59coming in from the Atlantic,

0:02:59 > 0:03:02and there's a bit of tropical air in that.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04The Jet stream is diving to the south.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06For a while, it may just bend

0:03:06 > 0:03:08northwards across the UK,

0:03:08 > 0:03:09allowing us some drier weather

0:03:09 > 0:03:11for the second half of the weekend.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13But beyond then, the outlook

0:03:13 > 0:03:14is still very unsettled,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16often on the cool side as well.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18Most of the rain looks like it may well be

0:03:18 > 0:03:20across the northern half of the UK.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23Some uncertainty across the models,

0:03:23 > 0:03:24but perhaps a bit drier

0:03:24 > 0:03:25and maybe a little bit warmer

0:03:25 > 0:03:26towards the south.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28But stay tuned for more changes

0:03:28 > 0:03:29in the days ahead.
