1:26:41 > 1:26:43We've seen a bit of sunshine for the first half of the week,

1:26:43 > 1:26:46but more rain to come in the second half.

1:26:46 > 1:26:48By the end of the weekend, some tropical air.

1:26:48 > 1:26:51We've got overnight rain to clear away from southern

1:26:51 > 1:26:54and eastern England on Thursday, then the cloud breaks up.

1:26:54 > 1:26:56As it warms, we get some sunshine and trigger

1:26:56 > 1:26:59showers in southern England, Wales and into the Midlands.

1:26:59 > 1:27:02Northern England and southeast Scotland may stay dry

1:27:02 > 1:27:05and quite sunny. It'll feel warmer here too.

1:27:05 > 1:27:07We're then back into showers for western Scotland

1:27:07 > 1:27:08and Northern Ireland.

1:27:08 > 1:27:12Some of those could be on the sharp side too.

1:27:12 > 1:27:13Highs of 23 degrees at best.

1:27:13 > 1:27:16Showers continue into the evening and overnight.

1:27:16 > 1:27:20We see the showers getting more organised into a spell of heavy rain

1:27:20 > 1:27:25across Northern Ireland, moving into northern England and Scotland too.

1:27:25 > 1:27:27Further south, clearer skies, but not too cold.

1:27:27 > 1:27:31Lowest temperatures probably in Northern Ireland, 11 degrees or so.

1:27:31 > 1:27:33Early rain for northern England and up into Scotland,

1:27:33 > 1:27:35moves into the Northern Isles, then it's sunshine

1:27:35 > 1:27:40and heavy showers, before we get another dose of rain moving rapidly

1:27:40 > 1:27:43across Northern Ireland and over the Irish Sea later in the afternoon.

1:27:43 > 1:27:46Further south, and east, more sunshine between those showers,

1:27:46 > 1:27:49but temperatures will be a bit lower on Friday.

1:27:49 > 1:27:5121 in London, only 15 in Glasgow.

1:27:51 > 1:27:54Over the weekend, I think we'll see more sunshine at times,

1:27:54 > 1:27:57but, for the first half of the weekend,

1:27:57 > 1:28:00some windy conditions and showers before we get a spell of rain

1:28:00 > 1:28:03towards the latter part of the weekend.

1:28:03 > 1:28:06The blustery showers coming around this area of low pressure.

1:28:06 > 1:28:09You see quite a few isobars on the charts.

1:28:09 > 1:28:12It's going to be quite a windy day for many on Saturday.

1:28:12 > 1:28:15Not so bad in the south, where it may be dry. Decent sunshine.

1:28:15 > 1:28:18Further north, we'll have showers,

1:28:18 > 1:28:20perhaps some more persistent rain in the far north of mainland

1:28:20 > 1:28:23Scotland and up towards the Northern Isles too.

1:28:23 > 1:28:26And then, as we move to the second half of the weekend,

1:28:26 > 1:28:28this is where the rain later bit comes in,

1:28:28 > 1:28:30and that's going to come courtesy of Hurricane Gert.

1:28:30 > 1:28:33For the moment, that's across the other side of the Atlantic.

1:28:33 > 1:28:35It's not a powerful hurricane and it won't be a hurricane

1:28:35 > 1:28:37as it heads towards our shores,

1:28:37 > 1:28:39but what it will do

1:28:39 > 1:28:40is combine with a regular area

1:28:40 > 1:28:42of low pressure

1:28:42 > 1:28:44that we've got across the eastern side of Canada,

1:28:44 > 1:28:45and the two will spin

1:28:45 > 1:28:48and chase their way across the Atlantic towards the UK,

1:28:48 > 1:28:49bringing a lot of cloud,

1:28:49 > 1:28:52picking the winds up a bit, and bringing some rain too.

1:28:52 > 1:28:54It's the rain that could be quite heavy,

1:28:54 > 1:28:57but we're not quite sure where it's going to land first of all.

1:28:57 > 1:28:58Looks like Northern Ireland initially,

1:28:58 > 1:29:01and then spilling northwards and eastwards,

1:29:01 > 1:29:04and perhaps towards the southeast of England later on in the day.

1:29:04 > 1:29:08So what's left of that tropical air and hurricane Gert all tied in

1:29:08 > 1:29:12with this area of low pressure, and that will still be around on Monday.

1:29:12 > 1:29:14So some more persistent rain perhaps moving

1:29:14 > 1:29:15northwards across Scotland,

1:29:15 > 1:29:17perhaps returning into Northern Ireland,

1:29:17 > 1:29:20and some showery bursts of rain sinking south-eastwards across

1:29:20 > 1:29:23England and Wales, but struggling to clear that southeast corner.

1:29:23 > 1:29:25Bit of a messy day on Monday.

1:29:25 > 1:29:28We look further ahead to the early part of next week.

1:29:28 > 1:29:30We start with this area of low pressure. It does move away.

1:29:30 > 1:29:34There's high pressure in the Atlantic trying to work towards us.

1:29:34 > 1:29:36For a while, we'll see a cooler north to north-westerly

1:29:36 > 1:29:39airflow before the high pressure starts to build in.

1:29:39 > 1:29:41And then, perhaps later on into the week,

1:29:41 > 1:29:44the high pressure gets squeezed that bit further south,

1:29:44 > 1:29:47allowing low pressures to come in back from the Atlantic

1:29:47 > 1:29:50and steer towards the northwest of the UK.

1:29:50 > 1:29:52What does that mean?

1:29:52 > 1:29:54It means it's going to settle down for a while next week.

1:29:54 > 1:29:57And perhaps we'll see a bit more sunshine.

1:29:57 > 1:29:59But, as the high get's squeezed to the south,

1:29:59 > 1:30:02so those areas of low pressure will bring some stronger winds at times

1:30:02 > 1:30:04and perhaps some rain too.

1:30:04 > 1:30:05Some uncertainty about

1:30:05 > 1:30:07how long the high will last.

1:30:07 > 1:30:08Stay tuned.
