1:05:17 > 1:05:19Hello, there. There is a bank holiday weekend
1:05:19 > 1:05:20just around the corner.
1:05:20 > 1:05:23I wish I could stand here and tell you it was going to be glorious -
1:05:23 > 1:05:25in fact, we really need Tuesday's weather,
1:05:25 > 1:05:27because just take a look at Cornwall.
1:05:27 > 1:05:28A beautiful day -
1:05:28 > 1:05:3125 degrees, 77 Fahrenheit.
1:05:31 > 1:05:33Not quite the case on Tuesday, though,
1:05:33 > 1:05:34in Northern Ireland.
1:05:34 > 1:05:36In Fermanagh we had rain so intense
1:05:36 > 1:05:39it was bouncing off the roofs of the cars,
1:05:39 > 1:05:41as you can see, by that beautiful Weather Watchers' picture -
1:05:41 > 1:05:44and that rain is still going to be with us
1:05:44 > 1:05:46across the far north for much of Wednesday.
1:05:46 > 1:05:48Moving its way in from West to East,
1:05:48 > 1:05:49there'll be some heavier bursts
1:05:49 > 1:05:51as it moves through Scotland
1:05:51 > 1:05:53and across the far north of England.
1:05:53 > 1:05:55A band of cloud, really, through the Midlands,
1:05:55 > 1:05:57and not really making much impression
1:05:57 > 1:05:59across the south-east corner.
1:05:59 > 1:06:01Behind it, fresher conditions,
1:06:01 > 1:06:02with a scattering of showers,
1:06:02 > 1:06:0319 to 20 degrees,
1:06:03 > 1:06:06but we could see quite a humid feel, again,
1:06:06 > 1:06:09in the south-east, with highs of 24.
1:06:09 > 1:06:10As we move out of Wednesday,
1:06:10 > 1:06:12it looks as though things will quieten down.
1:06:12 > 1:06:15That frontal system gradually moves off into the Northern Isles.
1:06:15 > 1:06:16Still some heavy rain here,
1:06:16 > 1:06:18and a scattering of showers
1:06:18 > 1:06:19to the north and west.
1:06:19 > 1:06:21Not quite as humid a night,
1:06:21 > 1:06:2312 to 14 degrees, perhaps,
1:06:23 > 1:06:25quite widely across the country -
1:06:25 > 1:06:28and, on Thursday, it will be a quieter day for most of us.
1:06:28 > 1:06:29The exception, though,
1:06:29 > 1:06:30still with an area of low pressure,
1:06:30 > 1:06:31out in the north-west,
1:06:31 > 1:06:34feeding in some showers on south-westerly flow
1:06:34 > 1:06:36through Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.
1:06:36 > 1:06:39Highs here of 17 to 18 degrees.
1:06:39 > 1:06:40Decent spells of sunshine, perhaps,
1:06:40 > 1:06:43in the south-east - 22 the high here.
1:06:43 > 1:06:45Now, as we move into Friday,
1:06:45 > 1:06:47we are still likely to see some outbreaks of showers
1:06:47 > 1:06:49across Northern Ireland,
1:06:49 > 1:06:51and maybe into Western Scotland,
1:06:51 > 1:06:53but there will be some decent sunshine elsewhere,
1:06:53 > 1:06:54and temperatures, again, will respond -
1:06:54 > 1:06:56perhaps a degree or so higher.
1:06:56 > 1:06:58In the south-east on Friday afternoon
1:06:58 > 1:07:01we could see temperatures peaking at 24 degrees.
1:07:01 > 1:07:02Remember these showers
1:07:02 > 1:07:04up into the far north-west, here,
1:07:04 > 1:07:0517 degrees,
1:07:05 > 1:07:07and they could be a little bit of a nuisance
1:07:07 > 1:07:09as we start the weekend.
1:07:09 > 1:07:10There is still a level of uncertainty
1:07:10 > 1:07:12as we move into the bank holiday weekend,
1:07:12 > 1:07:14but it does look as though there is the potential
1:07:14 > 1:07:16for that little weather front
1:07:16 > 1:07:18to increase the risk of some showers
1:07:18 > 1:07:19across the far south and east.
1:07:19 > 1:07:21Why the level of uncertainty?
1:07:21 > 1:07:23Well, the jet stream at the moment
1:07:23 > 1:07:25is doing this significant kink
1:07:25 > 1:07:27down to the west of the UK,
1:07:27 > 1:07:29and when we see the jet stream in this position,
1:07:29 > 1:07:33computer models tend to struggle with getting the detail -
1:07:33 > 1:07:34and it looks, on Saturday, at the moment,
1:07:34 > 1:07:36as though there's still the potential
1:07:36 > 1:07:38for some sharp showers likely
1:07:38 > 1:07:39into the south-east corner.
1:07:39 > 1:07:41A drier story further north and west,
1:07:41 > 1:07:43but it could still be quite warm,
1:07:43 > 1:07:45so, some of those showers could be heavy
1:07:45 > 1:07:46with rumbles of thunder -
1:07:46 > 1:07:48but, by the time we move out of Saturday,
1:07:48 > 1:07:50the jet stream almost splits in two,
1:07:50 > 1:07:52and we see this little area of low pressure
1:07:52 > 1:07:54forming down to the south -
1:07:54 > 1:07:57but it reinvigorates itself across the UK,
1:07:57 > 1:07:58and that means that things
1:07:58 > 1:08:00could become a little more unsettled,
1:08:00 > 1:08:03particularly into the far north-west,
1:08:03 > 1:08:05with another area of low pressure
1:08:05 > 1:08:06close off the shores here.
1:08:06 > 1:08:08So, as we move into Sunday,
1:08:08 > 1:08:10there is the potential for some wetter and windier weather
1:08:10 > 1:08:12into the extreme north-west,
1:08:12 > 1:08:15still the risk of some showers further south,
1:08:15 > 1:08:17but there is a great deal of uncertainty
1:08:17 > 1:08:19about the detail in Sunday's forecast.
1:08:19 > 1:08:21If you've got outdoor plans,
1:08:21 > 1:08:22do not make this the last forecast
1:08:22 > 1:08:24that you're going to watch -
1:08:24 > 1:08:26and that uncertainty actually continues
1:08:26 > 1:08:28into the bank holiday Monday.
1:08:28 > 1:08:29It looks as though the driest of the weather
1:08:29 > 1:08:31will be in the south, the wettest in the north,
1:08:31 > 1:08:33and this pattern sets us up
1:08:33 > 1:08:35into the longer term period,
1:08:35 > 1:08:37with high-pressure dominating
1:08:37 > 1:08:38down to the south, potentially -
1:08:38 > 1:08:40it stays low pressure to the north,
1:08:40 > 1:08:42and that means we could continue
1:08:42 > 1:08:44to see showers or strong winds at times.
1:08:44 > 1:08:45Take care.
