0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. Summer warmth made a vague attempt
0:00:04 > 0:00:09at a return earlier on this week, but it was swept away dramatically
0:00:09 > 0:00:10by some heavy downpours
0:00:10 > 0:00:12over the last day or so.
0:00:12 > 0:00:14One example of some disruption
0:00:14 > 0:00:15caused by those heavy downpours was
0:00:15 > 0:00:17here in North Yorkshire,
0:00:17 > 0:00:18but as the rain cleared away
0:00:18 > 0:00:20on Wednesday, things did improve.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22There were some spells of sunshine
0:00:22 > 0:00:24and things do generally look
0:00:24 > 0:00:26a lot less dramatic in our forecast
0:00:26 > 0:00:27for the week ahead.
0:00:27 > 0:00:29A lot of that is down to the Jet Stream
0:00:29 > 0:00:31which, at the moment,
0:00:31 > 0:00:33is diving right down here to the south.
0:00:33 > 0:00:35That will develop an area of low pressure
0:00:35 > 0:00:37just off the coast of Iberia
0:00:37 > 0:00:39and what it leaves us with is
0:00:39 > 0:00:42a very, very slack pressure pattern indeed.
0:00:42 > 0:00:44Not a lot of white lines on the charts,
0:00:44 > 0:00:45not a lot of isobars.
0:00:45 > 0:00:47That means the winds aren't particularly strong.
0:00:47 > 0:00:49There's nothing much to push the weather around.
0:00:49 > 0:00:51So, what you get during Thursday
0:00:51 > 0:00:53is going to be very similar to
0:00:53 > 0:00:55what you'll get on Friday and Saturday as well.
0:00:55 > 0:00:57Thursday will bring some showers
0:00:57 > 0:00:59across Northern Ireland, western Scotland,
0:00:59 > 0:01:01some into northern England.
0:01:01 > 0:01:03Further south and east, it'll be largely dry
0:01:03 > 0:01:04with some spells of sunshine
0:01:04 > 0:01:07and temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees.
0:01:07 > 0:01:09Now, some outbreaks of showery rain continue
0:01:09 > 0:01:10in the north-west as we go through
0:01:10 > 0:01:12Thursday night into Friday.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14Further south, it stays largely dry.
0:01:14 > 0:01:15There could be the odd mist patch,
0:01:15 > 0:01:17temperatures around 12 to 14 degrees
0:01:17 > 0:01:20and Friday is essentially a repeat performance.
0:01:20 > 0:01:22Southern and eastern areas staying dry
0:01:22 > 0:01:23with a good deal of sunshine.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25The further north and west you are,
0:01:25 > 0:01:26the more cloud there will be,
0:01:26 > 0:01:28the greater chance of some showery rain,
0:01:28 > 0:01:29particularly for Northern Ireland
0:01:29 > 0:01:31and western Scotland.
0:01:31 > 0:01:32Here, temperatures of 17 degrees
0:01:32 > 0:01:34in Glasgow and Belfast,
0:01:34 > 0:01:36but in the sunshine towards the south-east,
0:01:36 > 0:01:38it will actually feel pleasantly warm
0:01:38 > 0:01:39with highs of around 24.
0:01:39 > 0:01:41We keep our rather slack pressure pattern
0:01:41 > 0:01:43as we go into the start of the weekend.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45You can see, still not many white lines,
0:01:45 > 0:01:46not many isobars on the chart.
0:01:46 > 0:01:48The winds still relatively light,
0:01:48 > 0:01:51our showers still stranded up to the north-west,
0:01:51 > 0:01:52so Scotland, Northern Ireland,
0:01:52 > 0:01:53seeing some showers.
0:01:53 > 0:01:55Some of these could be heavy.
0:01:55 > 0:01:57Largely dry the further south and east you are
0:01:57 > 0:01:59and still pretty warm as well,
0:01:59 > 0:02:0125 degrees the high, there, in London.
0:02:01 > 0:02:03A bit of a change on Saturday night -
0:02:03 > 0:02:05potentially, there is the risk
0:02:05 > 0:02:07that we'll see some showers or thunderstorms
0:02:07 > 0:02:09just clipping into the south-east
0:02:09 > 0:02:10and East Anglia.
0:02:10 > 0:02:11It is just a risk at this stage.
0:02:11 > 0:02:13Some of those could hang around
0:02:13 > 0:02:15as we go on through the day on Sunday.
0:02:15 > 0:02:16Still some showers up to the north-west,
0:02:16 > 0:02:19you'll notice, where it'll be a bit breezy.
0:02:19 > 0:02:21Generally a lot of dry weather
0:02:21 > 0:02:22and some spells of sunshine.
0:02:22 > 0:02:24Now, as we get on into Monday,
0:02:24 > 0:02:27which is a bank holiday for many, of course,
0:02:27 > 0:02:29things begin to turn a little more lively.
0:02:29 > 0:02:31You can see the white lines squeezing together,
0:02:31 > 0:02:33a bit more of a westerly wind
0:02:33 > 0:02:36and a more concerted band of rain looks likely
0:02:36 > 0:02:38to push into Scotland, Northern Ireland,
0:02:38 > 0:02:40but then sinking southwards into northern England,
0:02:40 > 0:02:42Wales, perhaps the south-west.
0:02:42 > 0:02:43Still at this stage,
0:02:43 > 0:02:45the south-east largely dry,
0:02:45 > 0:02:47the winds beginning to pick up a little bit,
0:02:47 > 0:02:48and that is just the first sign
0:02:48 > 0:02:50of something a bit more mobile,
0:02:50 > 0:02:52a little bit more lively
0:02:52 > 0:02:53as we go on through next week -
0:02:53 > 0:02:55our Jet Stream, at this stage,
0:02:55 > 0:02:57looks likely to be pushing right
0:02:57 > 0:02:59across the Atlantic and blowing
0:02:59 > 0:03:00right across the British Isles.
0:03:00 > 0:03:02But even then, it is
0:03:02 > 0:03:03a little bit half-hearted.
0:03:03 > 0:03:04This area of high pressure
0:03:04 > 0:03:06doesn't make much progress
0:03:06 > 0:03:07in across the country.
0:03:07 > 0:03:09This area of low pressure really
0:03:09 > 0:03:10just affects the far north.
0:03:10 > 0:03:12What does that mean? Well, it means next week,
0:03:12 > 0:03:14in northern areas, there's likely to be
0:03:14 > 0:03:16some rain at times, and generally quite
0:03:16 > 0:03:18a cool feel to the weather.
0:03:18 > 0:03:20Further south, closer to that area
0:03:20 > 0:03:22of high pressure, it'll often be dry
0:03:22 > 0:03:23and, especially in the sunshine,
0:03:23 > 0:03:25it'll feel pleasantly warm.
0:03:25 > 0:03:28But certainly things look a little bit less dramatic
0:03:28 > 0:03:29as we go through the next few days.
