0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. Our weather is stuck in something of a rut at the moment.
0:00:05 > 0:00:06The winds are very light,
0:00:06 > 0:00:08there's nothing to push things along,
0:00:08 > 0:00:10nothing to change things very quickly,
0:00:10 > 0:00:13and a lot of that is down to the jet stream.
0:00:13 > 0:00:15Instead of steering weather systems
0:00:15 > 0:00:17across the Atlantic, towards our shores,
0:00:17 > 0:00:20the jet is diving down to the south.
0:00:20 > 0:00:21All the strength, all the energy
0:00:21 > 0:00:23in the jet is going down to the south,
0:00:23 > 0:00:25and that means areas of low pressure
0:00:25 > 0:00:27will spin around close to Iberia.
0:00:27 > 0:00:28What we're left with is a very
0:00:28 > 0:00:30weak pressure pattern, really -
0:00:30 > 0:00:31not many isobars, the winds will be light,
0:00:31 > 0:00:33low pressure vaguely in charge
0:00:33 > 0:00:35to the north-west, so that means here,
0:00:35 > 0:00:36we'll see some rain at times.
0:00:36 > 0:00:38Not all the time, and it will be fairly cool.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40High-pressure vaguely in charge
0:00:40 > 0:00:41down to the south-east,
0:00:41 > 0:00:44so that means it will be largely dry,
0:00:44 > 0:00:46pleasantly warm in any sunshine
0:00:46 > 0:00:47and I suspect some parts
0:00:47 > 0:00:50of the south-east may stay completely dry
0:00:50 > 0:00:52as we go on through the coming days.
0:00:52 > 0:00:53On Friday, there will be a fair amount
0:00:53 > 0:00:55of sunshine for East Anglia and the south-east.
0:00:55 > 0:00:56Bit more cloud for Wales
0:00:56 > 0:00:58and northern England, the odd shower,
0:00:58 > 0:01:00some showers for Northern Ireland.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02Again, some rain here on Friday
0:01:02 > 0:01:04and some of those showers into Scotland.
0:01:04 > 0:01:06Now, as we go on through Friday night,
0:01:06 > 0:01:07while showery rain continues
0:01:07 > 0:01:09across Northern Ireland for a time,
0:01:09 > 0:01:11it should eventually dry up a little bit here.
0:01:11 > 0:01:12Showery rain continues across Scotland.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14Further south, largely dry -
0:01:14 > 0:01:16the odd fog patch and maybe beginning
0:01:16 > 0:01:18to turn a bit humid down towards the south-east.
0:01:18 > 0:01:20Now, one subtle change on Saturday -
0:01:20 > 0:01:22this frontal system sinking its way
0:01:22 > 0:01:23a little bit further south.
0:01:23 > 0:01:26That will introduce perhaps a little more cloud
0:01:26 > 0:01:28for England and Wales, and there may just be
0:01:28 > 0:01:29the odd isolated shower here,
0:01:29 > 0:01:31but the vast majority here will stay dry.
0:01:31 > 0:01:32Still some showers for
0:01:32 > 0:01:34Northern Ireland and Scotland,
0:01:34 > 0:01:36maybe not quite as many showers by this stage,
0:01:36 > 0:01:38but some of them could still be on the heavy side.
0:01:38 > 0:01:40Quite a range of temperatures -
0:01:40 > 0:01:4117 degrees there in Glasgow,
0:01:41 > 0:01:43but 20 in Cardiff,
0:01:43 > 0:01:45and we could get to 25 in London.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47Now, Sunday will actually bring
0:01:47 > 0:01:48a fair amount of dry weather
0:01:48 > 0:01:50right across the country.
0:01:50 > 0:01:52Still some showers in the far north-west.
0:01:52 > 0:01:54Perhaps an isolated heavy shower further south,
0:01:54 > 0:01:56just a small chance of that, I suspect,
0:01:56 > 0:01:5817 to 24 degrees.
0:01:58 > 0:02:00But this if we look at the pressure pattern
0:02:00 > 0:02:02as we head on into Monday,
0:02:02 > 0:02:04a bank holiday for many places, of course,
0:02:04 > 0:02:06you can see things becoming a little more mobile.
0:02:06 > 0:02:08The white lines squashing together
0:02:08 > 0:02:10a bit more, that means there will be more
0:02:10 > 0:02:12of a breeze and this band of rain,
0:02:12 > 0:02:14heavy rain in the north-west,
0:02:14 > 0:02:16sinking its way southwards and eastwards,
0:02:16 > 0:02:18but weakening as it goes and, yes, you guessed it -
0:02:18 > 0:02:19parts of the south-east
0:02:19 > 0:02:21will stay completely dry during Monday.
0:02:21 > 0:02:23Now, through Monday night, our weather front
0:02:23 > 0:02:25sinks southwards and eastwards,
0:02:25 > 0:02:27but it's weakening all the while,
0:02:27 > 0:02:29so not much rain into the south-east.
0:02:29 > 0:02:32Maybe just some patches on Tuesday morning.
0:02:32 > 0:02:33Then a bit of a drier interlude,
0:02:33 > 0:02:35but we have a westerly wind -
0:02:35 > 0:02:37never a warm wind direction, so temperatures
0:02:37 > 0:02:4014 to 21 degrees at best.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42Now, as we get deeper into the week,
0:02:42 > 0:02:44our jet stream, instead of diving
0:02:44 > 0:02:45way down to the south,
0:02:45 > 0:02:47is making more of a beeline
0:02:47 > 0:02:48for the British Isles.
0:02:48 > 0:02:49That means weather systems will
0:02:49 > 0:02:51move in our direction and,
0:02:51 > 0:02:52on the face of it, it makes things
0:02:52 > 0:02:54look a little bit more changeable.
0:02:54 > 0:02:56However, low pressure is likely
0:02:56 > 0:02:57to sit to the north.
0:02:57 > 0:02:59Generally, we'll have a westerly wind,
0:02:59 > 0:03:00and what that means is, once again,
0:03:00 > 0:03:02the wettest of the weather will be
0:03:02 > 0:03:03up towards the north-west.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05Bands of rain or showers moving in,
0:03:05 > 0:03:08then as they move southwards and eastwards,
0:03:08 > 0:03:09remember, we move away from
0:03:09 > 0:03:10that area of low pressure,
0:03:10 > 0:03:12the rain will tend to weaken
0:03:12 > 0:03:13and we also have some shelter
0:03:13 > 0:03:15from that westerly wind, so eastern areas
0:03:15 > 0:03:17will see a lot of dry weather.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19Later next week, then, the pattern continues -
0:03:19 > 0:03:21the wettest weather will be in the north-west,
0:03:21 > 0:03:24it'll always stayed drier towards the south-east
0:03:24 > 0:03:26and no heatwave on the cards.
0:03:26 > 0:03:27Generally quite cool,
0:03:27 > 0:03:30so not too much changing over the next few days.
