0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. We are hurtling towards the end of August.

0:00:04 > 0:00:06In fact, this ten-day forecast

0:00:06 > 0:00:08takes us into the first few days of September.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10But it's not too late to see

0:00:10 > 0:00:13some fine dry, summer-like weather

0:00:13 > 0:00:15and we're going to have some of that

0:00:15 > 0:00:16through this weekend,

0:00:16 > 0:00:18the bank holiday weekend, of course.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21For many, high pressure increasingly dominating the scene,

0:00:21 > 0:00:25and that means plenty of fine weather, some spells of sunshine.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Now, it has been soggy at times

0:00:27 > 0:00:29across Northern Ireland and Scotland

0:00:29 > 0:00:31but for Northern Ireland

0:00:31 > 0:00:32and western Scotland, particularly,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35things will be much drier on Saturday.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38Still some showers for eastern Scotland, northeast England,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40some of these heavy, possibly thundery.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Further south, there'll be some areas of cloud,

0:00:42 > 0:00:45some sunny spells, and temperatures as high as 25 degrees.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47It'll be fine through Saturday evening,

0:00:47 > 0:00:50any showers in the northeast will fade away.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53There'll be some clear spells, maybe the odd fog patch,

0:00:53 > 0:00:56and overnight lows of 12 to 16 degrees,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59perhaps a little humid down towards the southeast.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02But high pressure really is the story of the day

0:01:02 > 0:01:04on Sunday, bringing fine conditions

0:01:04 > 0:01:07across just about all parts of the British Isles.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Some spells of sunshine at times.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12A weak weather front threatening to bring some cloud

0:01:12 > 0:01:15and some dampness into the far northwest of Scotland,

0:01:15 > 0:01:17particularly the Western Isles,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19a little breezy here as well,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21and temperatures ranging from 17 in Aberdeen

0:01:21 > 0:01:23to a high of 25 in London.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25But after a quiet couple of days,

0:01:25 > 0:01:29the jet stream begins to break through again

0:01:29 > 0:01:32as we get into Monday, bank holiday for many areas, of course,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35steering weather systems in our direction,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37particularly this weather front here,

0:01:37 > 0:01:40a cold front, which will be moving into Northern Ireland

0:01:40 > 0:01:43and western Scotland with increasingly strong winds.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46So, increasingly wet and blustery weather on Monday

0:01:46 > 0:01:49across Northern Ireland and northern and western Scotland,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51some heavy bursts of rain here.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Further south, across much of England and Wales,

0:01:54 > 0:01:56there'll be some sunshine

0:01:56 > 0:02:00and it could feel very warm indeed - 27, 28 degrees is possible

0:02:00 > 0:02:02across the southeast. However,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04our cold front will continue to

0:02:04 > 0:02:07journey south-eastwards during Monday night,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09taking rain with it,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11and behind that, we introduce

0:02:11 > 0:02:13some much cooler, fresher air from the Atlantic.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16Some of the rain may well

0:02:16 > 0:02:18drag its heels across the southeast on Tuesday morning,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20quite light and patchy as it goes,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22but look at the temperatures -

0:02:22 > 0:02:2415 to 21 degrees at best.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27A much cooler feel, and a fairly cool day on Wednesday.

0:02:27 > 0:02:28Some sunny spells.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30A few showers into the northwest.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32Some uncertainty about the details of this,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35but it does look like, for the middle part of next week,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38we're going to develop an area of low pressure.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41That's likely to slide across north-western parts,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43but at the same time,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46it will allow us to pull in an area of high pressure

0:02:46 > 0:02:47towards the southeast,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49and this is the pattern

0:02:49 > 0:02:50as we go into September -

0:02:50 > 0:02:52the jet stream likely to be blowing

0:02:52 > 0:02:54up to the northwest,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56steering weather systems to the northwest,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58and allowing high pressure

0:02:58 > 0:02:59to build in more broadly

0:02:59 > 0:03:01across the country, meaning

0:03:01 > 0:03:02a lot of fine weather.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04In this situation,

0:03:04 > 0:03:05we can get some rain.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08In north-western areas, the south-westerly winds

0:03:08 > 0:03:10could bring moisture and some outbreaks of rain

0:03:10 > 0:03:11to the far northwest,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13and there is the potential for

0:03:13 > 0:03:15some humid air to waft in from the south.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17That could give one or two thunderstorms

0:03:17 > 0:03:19but, broadly speaking,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22early September looks likely to be dry for the most part,

0:03:22 > 0:03:24fairly warm as well but with a little bit of rain

0:03:24 > 0:03:27in the northwest. So it is not too late

0:03:27 > 0:03:29to see some fine, dry, summer-like weather.
