0:00:02 > 0:00:05I'll start and end this forecast with an area of high pressure.

0:00:05 > 0:00:07Some variations in between which we will cover

0:00:07 > 0:00:08in the next three and a half minutes.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11For much of the country, Monday is a bank holiday

0:00:11 > 0:00:12and this area of high pressure

0:00:12 > 0:00:14bringing something very settled and warm

0:00:14 > 0:00:16for much of England and Wales.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18But further north and west, a different story.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20A squeeze in the isobars strengthening the winds

0:00:20 > 0:00:22across Northern Ireland and Scotland

0:00:22 > 0:00:23and bringing some outbreaks

0:00:23 > 0:00:25of potentially heavy rain here.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27A lot more cloud across northern parts of England,

0:00:27 > 0:00:28western parts of Wales,

0:00:28 > 0:00:30but for east Wales and for much of England,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32dry, plenty of sunshine.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35Quite a range in temperature, as you would expect.

0:00:35 > 0:00:3717 Celsius to the north-west of Scotland,

0:00:37 > 0:00:38but in the best of the sunshine

0:00:38 > 0:00:40across central, eastern,

0:00:40 > 0:00:41south-eastern parts of England,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43we could potentially see highs of 28 Celsius

0:00:43 > 0:00:46and it will be a fine end to the day here.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48A different story further north

0:00:48 > 0:00:50and west as that band of rain sinks its way south

0:00:50 > 0:00:52and eastwards through the evening

0:00:52 > 0:00:53and overnight across parts

0:00:53 > 0:00:55of northern England, northern parts of Wales.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58An improving picture across Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:00:58 > 0:00:59but still very windy here

0:00:59 > 0:01:01and it will be a mild night

0:01:01 > 0:01:02with temperatures building up

0:01:02 > 0:01:04to between 10 and 15 Celsius for most,

0:01:04 > 0:01:0716 or 17 across south-eastern parts of the country.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10Now, that front continues to slip its way south

0:01:10 > 0:01:11and eastwards through Tuesday.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13It's a weakening affair

0:01:13 > 0:01:14so through Tuesday morning,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16there could be some patchy light rain and drizzle,

0:01:16 > 0:01:19say, across the Midlands, some parts of Wales,

0:01:19 > 0:01:20but that will soon fizzle out.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22A lot of cloud around on Tuesday,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24but generally a dry day.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Still windy across Northern Ireland and Scotland

0:01:27 > 0:01:29and certainly a fresher feel for much of north-western

0:01:29 > 0:01:31and western parts of the country,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34but still holding on to some warmth and humidity

0:01:34 > 0:01:36the further east and south-east you go.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Now, let's look ahead to Wednesday

0:01:38 > 0:01:41because we're being attacked from two fronts -

0:01:41 > 0:01:42one from this system in the Atlantic

0:01:42 > 0:01:45and another pushing up from the near continent

0:01:45 > 0:01:47so it brings a slightly more unsettled day.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49If we're going to see any rain at all in the week,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51it will probably be on Wednesday.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54The exact detail a little bit hard to define at this stage,

0:01:54 > 0:01:56but it will be a cloudier day.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58There will be some outbreaks of rain at times,

0:01:58 > 0:01:59but it won't be raining all day

0:01:59 > 0:02:02and the rain unlikely to amount to very much.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04What we will see is generally fresher conditions

0:02:04 > 0:02:06across the whole country,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08midweek 16 to 20 Celsius the high.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10Now, as we go into Thursday,

0:02:10 > 0:02:13these systems slowly push their way eastwards.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Some of it may just linger for a time

0:02:15 > 0:02:17on Thursday morning across south-east England,

0:02:17 > 0:02:20but aside from a few showers across Northern Ireland

0:02:20 > 0:02:21and Scotland on Thursday,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23much of the country will have a dry day.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25There'll be some spells of sunshine,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28temperatures typically between 17 and 21 Celsius

0:02:28 > 0:02:29in light winds.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31It should feel quite pleasant out and about

0:02:31 > 0:02:33and it's almost a repeat performance on Friday.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Mainly dry, one or two showers,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37but in the sunshine, a high of 21 Celsius

0:02:37 > 0:02:39really should feel quite pleasant indeed.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41But we look to the south-west,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43the western south-west later on Friday

0:02:43 > 0:02:45and it's this area of low pressure

0:02:45 > 0:02:46which is fairly close by.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49However, it looks like this area of high pressure

0:02:49 > 0:02:52is going to dominate as we head into the weekend

0:02:52 > 0:02:54and what that will do

0:02:54 > 0:02:57is deflect any low pressure systems.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Its exact position may well change

0:03:00 > 0:03:02and it could just allow that low pressure system

0:03:02 > 0:03:04to bring maybe a little bit more cloud,

0:03:04 > 0:03:05maybe some patchy rain

0:03:05 > 0:03:07to the far north-west of Scotland

0:03:07 > 0:03:08and for Ireland,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10but otherwise a lot of dry weather

0:03:10 > 0:03:11into the weekend

0:03:11 > 0:03:13and we're drawing up this warm air

0:03:13 > 0:03:14from the near continent

0:03:14 > 0:03:16so particularly across southern and eastern areas

0:03:16 > 0:03:18as we go into early September,

0:03:18 > 0:03:19there should be some warmth,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21it should be largely settled.

0:03:21 > 0:03:22I can't rule out one or two showers,

0:03:22 > 0:03:23but it looks like

0:03:23 > 0:03:25there's a lot of dry weather

0:03:25 > 0:03:27into the start of next moth. Bye-bye.
