0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. We've just had the highest temperature of the week.
0:00:04 > 0:00:07The heat was much more concentrated on Tuesday
0:00:07 > 0:00:09into the south-east corner of England.
0:00:09 > 0:00:11We had a temperature of 29 degrees in Kent.
0:00:11 > 0:00:15You can see the blue skies we had earlier on Tuesday in Kent.
0:00:15 > 0:00:19Contrast that with more cloud that was spilling down into Lincolnshire
0:00:19 > 0:00:21where we saw the highest temperatures on Monday.
0:00:21 > 0:00:23And as we move into Wednesday,
0:00:23 > 0:00:25we'll find the cloud thickening
0:00:25 > 0:00:27and two sets of weather fronts,
0:00:27 > 0:00:28areas of low pressure,
0:00:28 > 0:00:30converging upon England and Wales.
0:00:30 > 0:00:32So a very different day on the way
0:00:32 > 0:00:34for some southern and eastern parts of England,
0:00:34 > 0:00:36with some rain that could be heavy at times.
0:00:36 > 0:00:38The rain should clear away
0:00:38 > 0:00:39from Wales and the south-west,
0:00:39 > 0:00:42a few showers and some sunshine further north.
0:00:42 > 0:00:43A lot of showers to come,
0:00:43 > 0:00:45slow moving and heavy ones across Northern Ireland.
0:00:45 > 0:00:47Temperatures typically 16 or 17 degrees
0:00:47 > 0:00:49and that goes for East Anglia and the south-east
0:00:49 > 0:00:51where it will be raining all day.
0:00:51 > 0:00:53So a significant drop in temperature here.
0:00:53 > 0:00:55A pretty miserable day on the way.
0:00:55 > 0:00:58A far cry from the heat we've seen recently.
0:00:58 > 0:00:59That rain pushes away out
0:00:59 > 0:01:02into the southern North Sea eventually overnight.
0:01:02 > 0:01:03Clearer skies will follow
0:01:03 > 0:01:05and it'll turn chilly in the countryside.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08We're down to 7 or 8 degrees quite easily.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10The very warm air is really now
0:01:10 > 0:01:12across the near continent on Thursday
0:01:12 > 0:01:15and that low pressure is taking the downpours away.
0:01:15 > 0:01:17But this little weather front here
0:01:17 > 0:01:19moving very slowly in the slack winds
0:01:19 > 0:01:21is going to focus some showers.
0:01:21 > 0:01:23But they'll be hit and miss,
0:01:23 > 0:01:24everything quite slow moving,
0:01:24 > 0:01:26but if you catch a shower,
0:01:26 > 0:01:28particularly across Wales and western England,
0:01:28 > 0:01:30those showers could be heavy,
0:01:30 > 0:01:31potentially thundery.
0:01:31 > 0:01:32It should be a drier day
0:01:32 > 0:01:34for East Anglia and the south-east.
0:01:34 > 0:01:36It should feel a bit warmer as well.
0:01:36 > 0:01:38But it's not likely to stay dry
0:01:38 > 0:01:40overnight and into Friday
0:01:40 > 0:01:42because that little weather front
0:01:42 > 0:01:44focusing those showers and the low pressure
0:01:44 > 0:01:46drifts down towards the south-east,
0:01:46 > 0:01:47higher pressure building in
0:01:47 > 0:01:49towards the north-west.
0:01:49 > 0:01:50So, for much of Scotland,
0:01:50 > 0:01:52Northern Ireland, northern England and Wales,
0:01:52 > 0:01:54it'll be dry, very few showers.
0:01:54 > 0:01:56Southern England, the Midlands,
0:01:56 > 0:01:57across to East Anglia, more likely
0:01:57 > 0:01:59to catch the showers to end the week.
0:01:59 > 0:02:02Temperatures perhaps 20 degrees at best.
0:02:02 > 0:02:0417 to 20 is really quite normal
0:02:04 > 0:02:05for this time of the year.
0:02:05 > 0:02:07Those showers eventually push away
0:02:07 > 0:02:10as this ridge of high pressure builds in
0:02:10 > 0:02:11at the start of the weekend.
0:02:11 > 0:02:14It looks like a promising day on Saturday.
0:02:14 > 0:02:15There won't be much of a breeze
0:02:15 > 0:02:17away from the far north
0:02:17 > 0:02:18and north-west of Scotland.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20So in the sunshine it should feel
0:02:20 > 0:02:22quite warm for the time of year.
0:02:22 > 0:02:24The winds will be lighter
0:02:24 > 0:02:25and it should be a dry day
0:02:25 > 0:02:27with some sunny spells.
0:02:27 > 0:02:29Perhaps staying fine with some sunshine
0:02:29 > 0:02:31across much of England on Sunday.
0:02:31 > 0:02:32Further north and west,
0:02:32 > 0:02:34some rain beginning to arrive,
0:02:34 > 0:02:36slowly but surely.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38The winds picking up as well.
0:02:38 > 0:02:39But it's a southerly wind,
0:02:39 > 0:02:41so anything coming in from the Atlantic
0:02:41 > 0:02:43is going to take some time.
0:02:43 > 0:02:44We need to get more of a westerly wind
0:02:44 > 0:02:46to push everything along.
0:02:46 > 0:02:47But you get the idea
0:02:47 > 0:02:49that there's bands of cloud and rain
0:02:49 > 0:02:50waiting in the Atlantic,
0:02:50 > 0:02:52higher pressure towards the east of the UK.
0:02:52 > 0:02:54Into next week, there's a chance
0:02:54 > 0:02:57we could get warmer air into the south-east,
0:02:57 > 0:02:58a risk of some thunder.
0:02:58 > 0:03:00But that's a lower probability.
0:03:00 > 0:03:02What's more likely to happen is
0:03:02 > 0:03:04that these westerly winds from the Atlantic
0:03:04 > 0:03:06will win out eventually
0:03:06 > 0:03:08and erratically, steadily,
0:03:08 > 0:03:09we'll see bands of rain
0:03:09 > 0:03:11pushing eastwards across the UK.
0:03:11 > 0:03:15So a change to something more unsettled into next week.
0:03:15 > 0:03:17Rain or showers, the winds picking up,
0:03:17 > 0:03:19gales likely in the north,
0:03:19 > 0:03:20but with that we'll find
0:03:20 > 0:03:22warmer nights on the way.
0:03:22 > 0:03:24And it's going to be that bit drier
0:03:24 > 0:03:26and probably a bit warmer in the south-east.
0:03:26 > 0:03:28That's it from me. Bye for now.
