0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hello. Meteorologically speaking the beginning of September is

0:00:06 > 0:00:07the beginning of Autumn

0:00:07 > 0:00:10but it didn't feel like that for some of us on Monday.

0:00:10 > 0:00:14Despite a lot of cloud around we had highs of 24 degrees,

0:00:14 > 0:00:1675 Fahrenheit, in parts of the West Midlands,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19with some glimpses of sunshine.

0:00:19 > 0:00:20I hope you made the most of it.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22It's all set to change.

0:00:22 > 0:00:26In actual fact on Monday across the far north-east in Edinburgh

0:00:26 > 0:00:27we had some heavy rain.

0:00:27 > 0:00:31This frontal system is going to continue to bring some rain and it

0:00:31 > 0:00:34will push that humid air back to the near continent, feeling much

0:00:34 > 0:00:38fresher, really, from Tuesday into Wednesday.

0:00:38 > 0:00:42And so on Tuesday we will see some rain, some of it heavy

0:00:42 > 0:00:46for a time across Wales and parts of northern England and Scotland.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49That will gradually drift its way east and weaken off.

0:00:49 > 0:00:53A little bit of brightness and so we could see yet again more

0:00:53 > 0:00:55warmth in the south-east with 21 or 22 degrees.

0:00:55 > 0:00:59But already fresher conditions further north and west,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01but at least you will get some sunshine.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Those fronts will continue to sweep their way south and east

0:01:03 > 0:01:06and then really introduce the fresher air for all for the

0:01:06 > 0:01:08beginning of Wednesday morning.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10It will be a noticeable difference to the feel first

0:01:10 > 0:01:12thing on Wednesday.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Low double digits across towns and city centres,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17perhaps single figures in rural parts.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20There will be plenty of isobars on the chart on Wednesday.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22That means it's going to be a pretty breezy affair.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25A lot of cloud and the wind coming in from a western direction.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28So always feeding more cloud along west-facing coasts.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31The best of any brightness in sheltered eastern areas but

0:01:31 > 0:01:35with that wind direction we could see a few scattered showers as well.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38But a relatively quiet day to come on Wednesday.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Highest values around 14 to 19 degrees.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44As we move out of Wednesday into Thursday we've got to look

0:01:44 > 0:01:46to this area of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49That's going to bring increasingly strengthening winds

0:01:49 > 0:01:52and more unsettled weather through Northern Ireland, and in

0:01:52 > 0:01:55particular north-west Scotland, but eventually towards Scotland.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58England and Wales on Thursday should stay predominantly dry,

0:01:58 > 0:02:01a little bit more in the way of cloud around perhaps.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03And again not quite as warm as it has been.

0:02:03 > 0:02:0613 to 20 degrees the overall high.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08But as we move out of Thursday into Friday we're going to see

0:02:08 > 0:02:11some rain, pretty much for all of us at some point,

0:02:11 > 0:02:14and some of that will turn quite heavy. With plenty of isobars again,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16across the chart

0:02:16 > 0:02:18the winds will start to become quite a significant feature.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21So some heavy rain moving its way through England and Wales.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Circulating around that low we're going to see strong

0:02:24 > 0:02:26winds driving in plenty of showers.

0:02:26 > 0:02:2813 to 18 degrees the overall high.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32And that area of low pressure will really dictate the early

0:02:32 > 0:02:33half of the weekend as well.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36It stays pretty windy at times

0:02:36 > 0:02:38and there will be some significant showers to come.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41Most of the showers chiefly to the north and west.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43Sheltered eastern areas perhaps

0:02:43 > 0:02:45seeing the best of any drier weather.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48But it's going to feel disappointing for the early half of September.

0:02:48 > 0:02:5013 to 19 degrees the high.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53For the longer term period we have to look towards the

0:02:53 > 0:02:57jet stream which is going to be sitting to the south of the UK.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59Quite unusually south for this time of year.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02And that is going to allow the areas of low pressure to

0:03:02 > 0:03:06generate in the Atlantic and push down across the UK.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09So as we're to the north side of the jet stream we're always going to

0:03:09 > 0:03:12be on the cooler side and it's going to stay pretty unsettled.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15So you know what I'm going to say. For the longer

0:03:15 > 0:03:18eight to ten day period, it looks likely to stay wet and windy.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20We will see some brighter interludes,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22but for you it may not be

0:03:22 > 0:03:23Autumn yet, but I tell you what,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25it is certainly going to feel like it as

0:03:25 > 0:03:27we move through the weekend and into the early half of next week.

0:03:33 > 0:03:34You want to get rid of me.

0:03:38 > 0:03:39Then what's the plan?

0:03:39 > 0:03:41Wait and see.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43Put yourself vertically above her

0:03:43 > 0:03:44and make sure your hands are

0:03:44 > 0:03:46in the centre of her chest.

0:03:46 > 0:03:47One and two and three.

0:03:47 > 0:03:48One, two, three. That's it.
