0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. Weather headlines for the next couple of days are likely
0:00:05 > 0:00:07to be dominated by Hurricane Irma,
0:00:07 > 0:00:10but back closer to home things have been a little bit quieter
0:00:10 > 0:00:12for the start of this week.
0:00:12 > 0:00:14Yes, we saw some rain on Tuesday, as you can see
0:00:14 > 0:00:17by this Weather Watcher's picture in Aberdeenshire.
0:00:17 > 0:00:20But for the second consecutive day it was Dorset that had
0:00:20 > 0:00:23the breaks in the cloud and some sunshine, quite pleasant here.
0:00:23 > 0:00:26Things will change, a fresher feel as we start to see a few more
0:00:26 > 0:00:29isobars on the chart and the wind direction
0:00:29 > 0:00:31swinging round to a fresher westerly.
0:00:31 > 0:00:34It looks as though Wednesday will be a pretty quiet day,
0:00:34 > 0:00:37there will be some decent breaks in the cloud, some sunshine for many,
0:00:37 > 0:00:41with that westerly wind just feeding a little more cloud in
0:00:41 > 0:00:44from the coast there. And we could see a scattering of showers.
0:00:44 > 0:00:47Top temperatures down on comparrison to the last couple of days,
0:00:47 > 0:00:4914-20C the high.
0:00:49 > 0:00:53Now as we move out of Wednesday we continue with this story,
0:00:53 > 0:00:56and weather conditions will turn a little bit fresher
0:00:56 > 0:00:58through the night, perhaps in more rural parts
0:00:58 > 0:01:00we'll have temperatures down to single figures.
0:01:00 > 0:01:03But at the same time, into the far north and west,
0:01:03 > 0:01:05the cloud and the rain will gather,
0:01:05 > 0:01:08an indication of what's to come as we move into Thursday.
0:01:08 > 0:01:11In fact, there's an area of low pressure that's going to move in
0:01:11 > 0:01:12and it will bring some rain,
0:01:12 > 0:01:15some of it heavy, across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
0:01:15 > 0:01:17For England and Wales, not too bad a start to Thursday.
0:01:17 > 0:01:19Again, predominantly fine and dry.
0:01:19 > 0:01:22A little more cloud around, perhaps sheltered southeastern areas
0:01:22 > 0:01:25seeing the best of the sunshine, but by the end of the day
0:01:25 > 0:01:28it will spill its way a little but south into northern England
0:01:28 > 0:01:29and perhaps north Wales.
0:01:29 > 0:01:32Here, temperatures more subduded, 13-15C,
0:01:32 > 0:01:36but highest values again of 20 in the southeast corner.
0:01:36 > 0:01:40Now as we move out of Thursday into Friday, that area of low pressure
0:01:40 > 0:01:42will sink its way steadily south and east and
0:01:42 > 0:01:46it'll be a little bit more significant for all of us on Friday.
0:01:46 > 0:01:48There's going to be some rain for all of us at some point.
0:01:48 > 0:01:51Starting off pretty wet, pretty miserable across
0:01:51 > 0:01:53central and southern parts of England. Behind that front
0:01:53 > 0:01:56we'll see squally showers developing,
0:01:56 > 0:01:58heavy with some hail and thunder and
0:01:58 > 0:02:01the winds driving those showers in along the northwest coast.
0:02:01 > 0:02:0413-18C, so temperatures a little bit subdued,
0:02:04 > 0:02:07really, for the first week of September.
0:02:07 > 0:02:08As we move out of Friday,
0:02:08 > 0:02:12that area of low pressure really just anchors itself
0:02:12 > 0:02:14across the far north and that's always going to feed in
0:02:14 > 0:02:17these showers across the north and west facing coast,
0:02:17 > 0:02:21the wind direction coming from the north, never a warm source, really.
0:02:21 > 0:02:2613-15C the high here, 19, possibly, in the southeast corner.
0:02:26 > 0:02:29And it looks as though as we start off into Sunday,
0:02:29 > 0:02:31things will quieten down, but not for long.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34Another area of low pressure arrives in from the Atlantic,
0:02:34 > 0:02:38and this will sweep its way pretty quickly south and east.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41So an early, dry and perhaps bright start in the southeast,
0:02:41 > 0:02:44the cloud will gather, the rain arrives, the wet and windy weather
0:02:44 > 0:02:47pushes in through Scotland, Northern Ireland
0:02:47 > 0:02:49and eventually across England and Wales,
0:02:49 > 0:02:51that during the latter stages of Sunday.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54And if this area of low pressure is sitting in this position on Monday
0:02:54 > 0:02:57it could be potentially quite a stormy day.
0:02:57 > 0:03:00Plenty of isobars packed around that area of low pressure,
0:03:00 > 0:03:03quite unusual, really, for the first week of September.
0:03:03 > 0:03:06However, I have a glimmer of good news for you,
0:03:06 > 0:03:08things look likely, potentially, to calm down,
0:03:08 > 0:03:11as we see an area of high pressure building
0:03:11 > 0:03:13in the longer eight-ten day period,
0:03:13 > 0:03:15and this high pressure, well, it's a blocking high.
0:03:15 > 0:03:18It's going to prevent those mobile westerly fronts
0:03:18 > 0:03:20moving in from the Atlantic.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23So things will turn a little bit quieter with lighter winds,
0:03:23 > 0:03:26but the wind direction always coming from the north so cooler by day
0:03:26 > 0:03:30and particularly through the night with a chance of some light frost.
