0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. Sometimes in weather, there are moments that take
0:00:05 > 0:00:08your breath away. They came aplenty with Hurricane Harvey in Texas,
0:00:08 > 0:00:12and they're coming again now with Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean.
0:00:12 > 0:00:14This is just breathtaking.
0:00:14 > 0:00:17This is a satellite picture from Wednesday of the eye
0:00:17 > 0:00:20of Hurricane Irma passing directly over Barbuda.
0:00:20 > 0:00:24Which means that Barbuda went from catastrophic winds one moment to
0:00:24 > 0:00:27barely a breath of wind in the eye, and then catastrophic winds again.
0:00:27 > 0:00:30Of course, Barbuda feeling the of full force of Irma,
0:00:30 > 0:00:33as did St Martin, which also had landfall.
0:00:33 > 0:00:36Now it's barrelling towards Puerto Rico during Thursday.
0:00:36 > 0:00:39Watch out, north coast Dominican Republic, Haiti, and then
0:00:39 > 0:00:42onto the Turks and Caicos Islands, Cuba and eventually Florida.
0:00:42 > 0:00:45Though there's still some uncertainty about that.
0:00:45 > 0:00:48And whilst Irma is not now having a direct impact
0:00:48 > 0:00:50on our weather, what happens with Irma after Florida,
0:00:50 > 0:00:52as remnants feed out into the Atlantic,
0:00:52 > 0:00:56does bring us some uncertainty in our longer-range forecast,
0:00:56 > 0:00:58as we'll see in just a moment.
0:00:58 > 0:01:00But let's get back to our weather and how that's
0:01:00 > 0:01:02developing during Thursday.
0:01:02 > 0:01:04Of course, it's a much quieter affair, though there is a
0:01:04 > 0:01:08weather system coming in from the Atlantic, initially bringing some
0:01:08 > 0:01:10rain at the start of the day to northwest Scotland.
0:01:10 > 0:01:12Quite heavy here, quite windy with that.
0:01:12 > 0:01:15But the rain is on the move southeast during the day
0:01:15 > 0:01:17across the rest of Scotland, Northern Ireland,
0:01:17 > 0:01:18to Wales and western England.
0:01:18 > 0:01:21Eastern parts of England, with the exception of the odd shower,
0:01:21 > 0:01:24stay driest for longest, but even here, getting into the evening,
0:01:24 > 0:01:26there should be outbreaks of rain moving in.
0:01:26 > 0:01:29Those temperatures clearly suppressed where you've got
0:01:29 > 0:01:31the heaviest rain and the strongest winds.
0:01:31 > 0:01:34Eventually, we see some outbreaks of rain reaching down towards
0:01:34 > 0:01:37southeastern parts of Britain as we go through Thursday and Friday.
0:01:37 > 0:01:41But this weather front comes a player in the weather
0:01:41 > 0:01:43across South wales, southern England on Friday.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45Still something to play for in the detail,
0:01:45 > 0:01:48but some spots could have quite a bit of rain all day long here.
0:01:48 > 0:01:50Elsewhere, some sunny spells, heavy showers to be had.
0:01:50 > 0:01:54Catch one of those, they could be thundery, perhaps with some hail.
0:01:54 > 0:01:56Now that front does clear away,
0:01:56 > 0:01:58but still low-pressure nearby as we look at the picture for Saturday.
0:01:58 > 0:02:00Strong winds to the south and west of the UK,
0:02:00 > 0:02:04lighter winds further east. Then a case of showers breaking out again.
0:02:04 > 0:02:09So some drier, sunnier moments, but some heavier showers to be had
0:02:09 > 0:02:10and still on the cool side.
0:02:10 > 0:02:13Though if you find some sunshine, may not feel too bad.
0:02:13 > 0:02:15Cool night to come, Saturday night into Sunday,
0:02:15 > 0:02:18a little ridge of high pressure, a gap between weather systems,
0:02:18 > 0:02:22but that gap isn't very big, because here comes another on Sunday.
0:02:22 > 0:02:25So again beginning to spread rain southeastwards across the UK
0:02:25 > 0:02:28and with this, the winds picking up as well.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30Particularly down towards the South and South West,
0:02:30 > 0:02:32from Sunday into Monday.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35Around this deep area of low pressure, the isobars squeezed.
0:02:35 > 0:02:38This could be a troublemaker, Sunday into Monday.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41And again, where those isobars are close together, across the South
0:02:41 > 0:02:44and South West, a risk of gales, perhaps severe gales in places,
0:02:44 > 0:02:46so could be some impact from this.
0:02:46 > 0:02:48Lighter winds further towards the North East,
0:02:48 > 0:02:51showers around again, and some heavy ones to be had.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54Going into Tuesday, that low trying to move away.
0:02:54 > 0:02:56Still in a breezy, cool flow of weather.
0:02:56 > 0:02:59But looks like a ridge of high pressure's trying to come in,
0:02:59 > 0:03:01but there are more weather systems to come next week.
0:03:01 > 0:03:04The bulk of next week is looking changeable and unsettled.
0:03:04 > 0:03:08But by the end of the week and into the following weekend,
0:03:08 > 0:03:11it looks like high pressure will try to establish itself in the Atlantic.
0:03:11 > 0:03:14That would disrupt the flow of weather, given us
0:03:14 > 0:03:17perhaps longer settled spells in between weather systems.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19But a word of caution,
0:03:19 > 0:03:22the computer forecasts are not yet taking into account what's
0:03:22 > 0:03:26left of Irma and Jose, which has followed on behind Irma,
0:03:26 > 0:03:28and how that's going to feed into to the weather across the Atlantic.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31So it is a very big "watch this space".
0:03:32 > 0:03:34You want to get rid of me.
