0:00:02 > 0:00:05You will have noticed we are in a spell of very changeable weather

0:00:05 > 0:00:07lasting all the way through much of next week.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10Low pressure, that means wet at times, windy, cool,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12but there are indications that

0:00:12 > 0:00:15from next weekend going into the following week,

0:00:15 > 0:00:17things will turn a little more settled

0:00:17 > 0:00:19but it is far from set in stone.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22It is low pressure that's across us at the moment,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25will be through the weekend and for much of next week,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27and around that area of low pressure

0:00:27 > 0:00:29it's a cool wind blowing in during Saturday,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31especially across the west and south of the UK,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33and there will be plenty of showers.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Quite a few from the word go through Northern Ireland

0:00:35 > 0:00:38and pushing through north-west England in particular, where

0:00:38 > 0:00:39it's pretty wet in the morning.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41Notice the showers developing more widely,

0:00:41 > 0:00:44especially across England and Wales, as we go through the afternoon,

0:00:44 > 0:00:46so we'll take a look at things at 4pm.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Actually not too many showers in Scotland,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50parts of south-west Scotland could well stay dry

0:00:50 > 0:00:52and in the afternoon the showers begin to fade away

0:00:52 > 0:00:55from Northern Ireland, so more of us right at this stage.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Late in the afternoon, going into the evening, I think

0:00:57 > 0:01:00more of us in Wales and western England will see some sunshine,

0:01:00 > 0:01:01rather than be getting wet,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04but more of central and eastern England and into the southeast

0:01:04 > 0:01:07are seeing these showers at 4pm

0:01:07 > 0:01:10but as is ever the case with showers, some places will miss them

0:01:10 > 0:01:13and stay dry, but catch a shower, could be heavy and thundery.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16Now, the showers will fade away gradually during Saturday evening

0:01:16 > 0:01:18and through Saturday night it will be mainly dry

0:01:18 > 0:01:20and clear for a time, the winds turning lighter,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22so it will be chilly going into Sunday morning,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25well down into single figures in some spots,

0:01:25 > 0:01:27and then another area of low pressure is coming in

0:01:27 > 0:01:29for part two of the weekend,

0:01:29 > 0:01:32so that will bring rain quite early on across Scotland,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34moving through Northern Ireland, then clearing away

0:01:34 > 0:01:37and then pushing south-eastwards across England and Wales.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Fairly slow process, won't be until late on before

0:01:40 > 0:01:41it gets to eastern parts of England

0:01:41 > 0:01:44and behind this band of rain there will be further showers,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46and the wind picking up as well,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48and I think especially Sunday night and into Monday

0:01:48 > 0:01:51across parts of Wales and south west England,

0:01:51 > 0:01:54gales and perhaps even an exposure risk of severe gales as well,

0:01:54 > 0:01:57so we need to just keep an eye on that but be aware,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00a spell of very windy weather, and Monday remains very blustery,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03that familiar mixture of sunshine and showers,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06though they may ease, especially western parts, later in the day.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08As we go from Monday into Tuesday,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11watching another possible weather system here,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13this one has a lot of uncertainty associated with it,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15the strength of wind around it,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17how far north it's going to push the rain,

0:02:17 > 0:02:19but southern parts of the UK could see a longer spell of rain

0:02:19 > 0:02:21whereas elsewhere showers will be most frequent

0:02:21 > 0:02:23towards the north-west of the UK.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26In between the two weather systems you could end up mainly dry

0:02:26 > 0:02:28but low pressure still very much on the scene,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30then as we go into Wednesday,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33so again the source of showers on Wednesday,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35some longer spells of rain in places,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37still the risk of that across southern parts of the UK,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40who it looks like are going to see the strongest winds.

0:02:40 > 0:02:41Still the potential for some gales.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43That's something else to keep an eye on,

0:02:43 > 0:02:45and it's still on the cool side,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48but heading towards the end of the week and into the weekend,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51this area of high pressure looks like becoming more established

0:02:51 > 0:02:55across the Atlantic and then maybe just edging towards us,

0:02:55 > 0:02:58and that's the source of potentially settling things down,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00and it looks like from mid-month,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02things will still be changeable

0:03:02 > 0:03:05but the gaps between weather systems will be longer,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08so longer, more settled spells with warmer days

0:03:08 > 0:03:11but under clear skies, quite chilly nights

0:03:11 > 0:03:13and the potential for some mist and fog patches,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16maybe a touch of frost, but I mentioned earlier,

0:03:16 > 0:03:17it's still not set in stone,

0:03:17 > 0:03:21it's because all of this tropical weather activity in the Atlantic.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23It breeds uncertainty into longer range forecasts,

0:03:23 > 0:03:27so there is a hint of something more settled on the horizon

0:03:27 > 0:03:29but it yet may not happen.
