0:00:02 > 0:00:04It's going to be turning colder this weekend.

0:00:04 > 0:00:06There are some frosty nights on the way, just for a while.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09But before then we've got rain developing

0:00:09 > 0:00:11and it's a two-pronged attack.

0:00:11 > 0:00:12One weather front moving down

0:00:12 > 0:00:13from the north-west

0:00:13 > 0:00:16and these weather systems pushing rain up

0:00:16 > 0:00:18from France across the Channel

0:00:18 > 0:00:19into England and Wales.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21Colder air comes round behind that rain

0:00:21 > 0:00:23on that north-westerly wind,

0:00:23 > 0:00:24which will freshen through the day.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26But some welcome rain on Saturday perhaps,

0:00:26 > 0:00:29given how dry it's been across eastern England.

0:00:29 > 0:00:30That rain eventually clearing away

0:00:30 > 0:00:32through the afternoon.

0:00:32 > 0:00:33Elsewhere, sunshine breaking out

0:00:33 > 0:00:34across England and Wales.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36Showers near some of these western coasts.

0:00:36 > 0:00:37The bulk of the showers

0:00:37 > 0:00:39for Northern Ireland and western Scotland.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41There could be snow over the Highlands

0:00:41 > 0:00:43as the air gets colder through the day.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45And as we head into the evening,

0:00:45 > 0:00:47for those bonfires, we've got showers

0:00:47 > 0:00:49out towards the western side of the UK.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Further east, it's likely to remain dry

0:00:51 > 0:00:54and clear pretty much through the night.

0:00:54 > 0:00:55It will turn cold as well.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58These are the numbers in towns and cities.

0:00:58 > 0:00:59So you can knock a few degrees

0:00:59 > 0:01:01off those numbers for rural areas.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Chilly start to the second half of the weekend.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Remember, things are getting a bit colder,

0:01:05 > 0:01:07the north-westerly airflow coming around

0:01:07 > 0:01:09the top of that high pressure.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11So we'll keep the showers going

0:01:11 > 0:01:12particularly early on

0:01:12 > 0:01:14across many western parts of the UK.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16Some will feed across Wales, to the Midlands,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18to the south-east around the middle part of the day.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Then the showers become fewer later on.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22So more sunshine around, fewer showers.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24North-westerly winds though,

0:01:24 > 0:01:26it's going to be chilly out there,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30Now, for Bonfire Night itself,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32it looks like it should be generally dry.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36Those showers continuing to fade away, but it will be cold.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38By the time we get to the end of the night,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41early on Monday it could be frosty out there

0:01:41 > 0:01:43widely, I think, in rural areas.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45But we've got some changes coming in

0:01:45 > 0:01:47during the day on Monday.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49The cold air is underneath

0:01:49 > 0:01:51that ridge of high pressure.

0:01:51 > 0:01:52But coming into the north-west

0:01:52 > 0:01:53rather slowly on Monday,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55we've got those weather systems.

0:01:55 > 0:01:56They'll bring rain

0:01:56 > 0:01:59and the rain will more likely develop

0:01:59 > 0:02:01through the day across western Scotland

0:02:01 > 0:02:02and into Northern Ireland.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04Ahead of it, the winds really picking up

0:02:04 > 0:02:06through these Irish Sea coasts,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08and further south and east across the UK,

0:02:08 > 0:02:09it may well be dry.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11There'll be some sunshine too.

0:02:11 > 0:02:12Winds continue to strengthen

0:02:12 > 0:02:14during the evening and overnight.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16That weather front, a low pressure on it,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18delays the progress of this rain.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20It's something we've been talking about

0:02:20 > 0:02:21over the past few days.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23How quickly is this rain

0:02:23 > 0:02:24going to move eastwards?

0:02:24 > 0:02:25Still some uncertainty.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27Eastern England dry for most of Tuesday.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29The rain initially heavy out to the west,

0:02:29 > 0:02:30as it pushes eastwards,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32should become a little bit lighter.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35And then it should clear away on Tuesday.

0:02:35 > 0:02:36But coming in across

0:02:36 > 0:02:38northern parts of the Atlantic,

0:02:38 > 0:02:39winds coming in from the west

0:02:39 > 0:02:41and some more weather systems

0:02:41 > 0:02:43grazing the north-west of the UK.

0:02:43 > 0:02:44So, the remaining cloud

0:02:44 > 0:02:46and a few spots of rain

0:02:46 > 0:02:48across eastern England clearing away.

0:02:48 > 0:02:49Sunny spells developing widely.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52The wind picking up in the far north-west

0:02:52 > 0:02:53and another band of rain.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55This rain not quite as heavy on Wednesday,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57nor indeed on Wednesday night.

0:02:57 > 0:02:58That band of rain should push

0:02:58 > 0:02:59across the whole of the country.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01Put the jet stream on there.

0:03:01 > 0:03:02It's quite a strong jet

0:03:02 > 0:03:04that will be picking up later on next week.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06And whilst it's pretty much

0:03:06 > 0:03:08right over the UK on Thursday

0:03:08 > 0:03:10and it may steer some rain our way

0:03:10 > 0:03:12on Thursday, perhaps into Friday,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15as the jet stream moves northwards next weekend,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17we should see wetter, windier weather

0:03:17 > 0:03:19more towards the north-west of the UK,

0:03:19 > 0:03:20whereas further south-east,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22with pressure higher,

0:03:22 > 0:03:23the winds lighter, it'll be drier.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27There'll be some sunshine, but once again, the nights will be chilly.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28Goodbye.
