0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello, thanks for joining me. It's that time again,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07where we take a look at the forthcoming week in some detail.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10And then we try and give you a flavour of what's to come

0:00:10 > 0:00:13in the forthcoming week, although, as with life, the further ahead

0:00:13 > 0:00:16you look, the good deal more uncertain things become.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19In the shorter term, I'm pretty sure that Tuesday is going to

0:00:19 > 0:00:22be all about where you are in relation to that weather front,

0:00:22 > 0:00:26which, as you see, as we unfold Tuesday, will gradually ease its way

0:00:26 > 0:00:28a little bit further towards the east.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31So that's going to be good news for Scotland, Northern Ireland

0:00:31 > 0:00:34and eventually the western side of Wales and maybe the far west

0:00:34 > 0:00:38of Cornwall. And you'll notice that, given the speed of advance,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41it's pretty good news for the far east of East Anglia

0:00:41 > 0:00:43and the South East, where you won't see the rain from that front

0:00:43 > 0:00:46until really quite late on but if you're anywhere near the

0:00:46 > 0:00:50spine of the British Isles, you could be in for a fairly wet day.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52As we get on into the wee small hours of Wednesday,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55that frontal system is still lurking there across the far east,

0:00:55 > 0:00:59helping to keep the temperatures up but where the skies clear behind,

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Wednesday is going to start on a bright but frosty note

0:01:02 > 0:01:06for a good part of the British Isles. It is but a temporary

0:01:06 > 0:01:09ridge of high pressure sandwiched between what, if you like,

0:01:09 > 0:01:13we'll call Tuesday's weather and the end of Wednesday's weather

0:01:13 > 0:01:16trying to get into the north-west of Scotland, towards Northern Ireland,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18to finish off the day. In between, as I say,

0:01:18 > 0:01:22there is that prospect of a dry, fine crisp sort of day.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25Temperatures not really responding too much to that sunshine,

0:01:25 > 0:01:30never better than 9, 10, 11 degrees, something of that order.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33So there we are for Wednesday, with up in the north-west the first signs

0:01:33 > 0:01:37of Thursday's rain belt gradually tumbling in.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Notice the number of isobars across the northern parts of Scotland,

0:01:40 > 0:01:42it's fairly wet and windy fare here.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44As we come that little bit further south,

0:01:44 > 0:01:47the linkage barely discernible there, the old weather front

0:01:47 > 0:01:49has just got the odd drib and drab of rain about it,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52not much more than that. It's a westerly breeze rather than

0:01:52 > 0:01:55a north-westerly, though, so the temperatures for many into

0:01:55 > 0:01:58double figures. And we keep that prospect going

0:01:58 > 0:02:01from Thursday into Friday, although you'll notice we are really

0:02:01 > 0:02:04squeezing up the isobars there. If this all comes to pass,

0:02:04 > 0:02:08Friday could be quite a windy day but again it's from the west,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11the main belt of rain lying, such as it is, right across the heart

0:02:11 > 0:02:14of the British Isles. Another one across the far north of Scotland

0:02:14 > 0:02:18but to either side of those belts of weather, not a bad day.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21A blustery one but not cold by any means at all.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Just notice how those isobars are beginning to crank round

0:02:23 > 0:02:26a little bit more towards the north-west as we get on into

0:02:26 > 0:02:30Saturday. So this is a bright, blustery sort of day.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32There will be copious numbers of showers, though,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34just getting in on the north-westerly across

0:02:34 > 0:02:37the north of Scotland, maybe some there just flirting

0:02:37 > 0:02:39with the far south-west as well.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41We're rather establishing a pattern here for the weekend,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44in that it will be dominated by those north-westerlies,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47perhaps that little ridge of high pressure just calming

0:02:47 > 0:02:49things down a touch as we get on in to Sunday.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52But the major players are beginning to shape up -

0:02:52 > 0:02:55low pressure to the south of Iceland, high pressure down

0:02:55 > 0:02:58closer towards the Azores. And it's a bit of an arms race

0:02:58 > 0:03:01to get in to the British Isles and be the dominant feature.

0:03:01 > 0:03:05Now, quite who wins out on that race, at the moment,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08is open to a good deal of conjecture.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10If the high pressure dominates,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12then things will be a good deal more settled.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Frosty starts perhaps, if the sky is clear but I'm not promising

0:03:15 > 0:03:18wall-to-wall sunshine, by any means at all.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21If the low pressure wins out for more of us, then the atmosphere's

0:03:21 > 0:03:24much more unsettled and there will be some cloud, perhaps some

0:03:24 > 0:03:27wind and certainly the prospect of more unsettled fare as well.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29I'll be back again tomorrow, bye-bye.
