0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello. Thanks for joining me.

0:00:03 > 0:00:05We'll take a look in some detail at the next few days or so,

0:00:05 > 0:00:08and on this occasion we'll be trying to look at

0:00:08 > 0:00:11some of the trends in the latter part of the forthcoming week

0:00:11 > 0:00:13to see what's going to affect us by that stage.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16In the shorter term, there are a lot of isobars on that chart,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19especially across the northern half of Scotland

0:00:19 > 0:00:21where I think there's going to be gale-force wind on Thursday

0:00:21 > 0:00:23and a copious supply of showers.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26Further south, a dull start for the greater part of England and Wales,

0:00:26 > 0:00:30but eventually, the frontal systems that will have brought that cloud

0:00:30 > 0:00:32will slump their way towards the near Continent,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34brighter skies behind them.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36The wind just south of west, perhaps,

0:00:36 > 0:00:39so double figure temperatures even as far north as Central Scotland.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42Not a bad end to the day. And then overnight

0:00:42 > 0:00:45we're just going to bring a new set of weather fronts in

0:00:45 > 0:00:48and again, pretty much a rerun, where we bring those fronts down

0:00:48 > 0:00:50towards the southern half of the British Isles,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52somewhat clearer skies following on behind,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54still some showers turning wintry

0:00:54 > 0:00:55across the higher ground of Scotland.

0:00:55 > 0:00:59And Friday is all about just trying to push that weather front

0:00:59 > 0:01:01down towards the southern shores.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04Quite a few isobars again, so another windy day,

0:01:04 > 0:01:06especially across Scotland.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08But this time the wind is just north of west,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10so a fresher feel, certainly,

0:01:10 > 0:01:11despite the presence of some sunshine.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15A scattering of showers as well. I'm not sure whether that cloud

0:01:15 > 0:01:18is actually going to get away from that south-western quarter,

0:01:18 > 0:01:21because it's wanting to sort of wave its way back

0:01:21 > 0:01:24towards the western side of the British Isles

0:01:24 > 0:01:27and that will bring some rain from Friday into Saturday.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29The weekend will be a bright affair,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31be cold, and there will be a supply of showers,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34especially around about the coasts.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36So that little wave on the weather front

0:01:36 > 0:01:40just the last perhaps of the relatively mild airs,

0:01:40 > 0:01:42because as we get on through the weekend you'll notice

0:01:42 > 0:01:44it is pretty much a sea of blue

0:01:44 > 0:01:47with the air streaming down towards us from the north -

0:01:47 > 0:01:49never a warm direction.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52So there's that wave - cloud and rain from that a real feature

0:01:52 > 0:01:54on Friday into Saturday,

0:01:54 > 0:01:56and once that's pulled away,

0:01:56 > 0:02:00so eventually, we'll see the start of the incursion of the colder air

0:02:00 > 0:02:02of these north-westerlies.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Still some relative warmth here across the far south,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08but elsewhere, the top two thirds of the British Isles,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11temperatures, as a daytime high, just in single figures.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14From Saturday into Sunday, look at this.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18It doesn't really matter where you are, we have got this pretty much

0:02:18 > 0:02:21full-on north-north-westerly wind right across the British Isles.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25A chilly start, and a cold day throughout,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28with a prospect of some showers around about the coast,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31especially in the east, away from the centre of that high pressure.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Which will give us a pretty chilly start on Monday

0:02:34 > 0:02:36but it's just giving ground,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39just wanting to slump away towards the south-west,

0:02:39 > 0:02:42as these weather fronts wander over its northern flank,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44so that means cloud and wind and rain

0:02:44 > 0:02:47eventually pushing in towards Scotland, to Northern Ireland too.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Further south, chilly start, decent sort of day.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53Primarily a dry day thanks to the influence of the high pressure.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57And then as we move towards the middle part of the forthcoming week

0:02:57 > 0:03:01we really sort of lay out what is going to become the pattern

0:03:01 > 0:03:03of the rest of the week,

0:03:03 > 0:03:07with the high pressure tantalisingly close to the south, but it's not

0:03:07 > 0:03:10doing enough to keep those low pressures away from the north.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13In between, the flow will be essentially from the west,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16so relatively speaking, compared to the weekend,

0:03:16 > 0:03:20a milder flow from midweek onwards.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22There will be some rain because of those low pressures in the north.

0:03:22 > 0:03:26Further south, thanks to that area of high pressure, things will look

0:03:26 > 0:03:28just that wee bit more settled.
