0:00:02 > 0:00:03A very warm welcome to you.

0:00:03 > 0:00:05Let's see if there's any warmer weather on the way,

0:00:05 > 0:00:09because in the last couple of days it's been on the chilly side,

0:00:09 > 0:00:12and it certainly has been very cold in the Highlands of Scotland,

0:00:12 > 0:00:17cold enough for snow, and a rare red squirrel there playing in the snow.

0:00:17 > 0:00:18And talking about red,

0:00:18 > 0:00:24a beautiful red sunset here in King's Cross in London.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27So, the next few days are certainly going to be that little bit milder.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30We're not talking about any particularly high temperatures,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33but you'll notice those temperatures creeping up by at least

0:00:33 > 0:00:35three or four degrees across most of the UK.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38And the reason for it is we have the jet stream, which is pushing

0:00:38 > 0:00:42in weather fronts in our direction. That means some cloud and rain.

0:00:42 > 0:00:46Then you can see this wedge of slightly warmer air

0:00:46 > 0:00:49drifting off the Atlantic and the cold air that's been over us

0:00:49 > 0:00:52the last few days moving away towards the east.

0:00:52 > 0:00:56And this process is under way, so we have a lot of cloud,

0:00:56 > 0:00:58spots of rain around across some northern and western areas,

0:00:58 > 0:01:01but it's not going to be like it for everybody on Tuesday.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03In fact, there is some fine weather around, as well,

0:01:03 > 0:01:07and that's going to be across Scotland. Here, a lovely autumn day.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09It is going to feel on the nippy side, though.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11Temperatures around six degrees,

0:01:11 > 0:01:13so perhaps not everywhere is it going to be mild.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15But by the time we get to northern England,

0:01:15 > 0:01:18the Midlands and the south, here temperatures will be

0:01:18 > 0:01:22into double figures during the course of the afternoon.

0:01:22 > 0:01:23You can see it's not going to be sunny at all,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25because there'll be a lot of cloud around

0:01:25 > 0:01:27and there'll be some dribs and drabs of rain.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30That's because the weather front is pretty much

0:01:30 > 0:01:33sitting on top of southern parts of the UK. So that's Tuesday.

0:01:33 > 0:01:34Now, Tuesday night,

0:01:34 > 0:01:38it looks like it might turn quite foggy almost anywhere across the UK,

0:01:38 > 0:01:40so there could be some problems with

0:01:40 > 0:01:42travel first thing in the morning on Wednesday.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44So let's have a look at that mist and fog, then.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47It will be mostly across the southern half of the UK,

0:01:47 > 0:01:50but I wouldn't rule out some fog patches further north, as well.

0:01:50 > 0:01:54So, early in the morning, a lot of low grey cloud.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56There'll be mist and fog particularly in the prone areas

0:01:56 > 0:01:58but certainly not everybody,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00because there will be some sunshine first thing, as well.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Those temperatures could actually get up

0:02:02 > 0:02:05to about 13 degrees if the sun does come through.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08In the north, always a little bit colder, closer to seven degrees.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11There was a little bit of rain across the north of the country,

0:02:11 > 0:02:14and on Thursday we are expecting another weather front to

0:02:14 > 0:02:18move in, so north-western areas on Thursday, a cold front moves

0:02:18 > 0:02:21through, we have some cloud and rain, the breeze picks up, as well.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24To the south of that, if the clouds break, briefly temperatures could

0:02:24 > 0:02:28even get into the low teens, around 13 degrees, for example, in London.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31But that weather front is through by the time we're through the week,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34and you can see those temperatures behind the cold front dip down

0:02:34 > 0:02:36a little bit, back to single figures across, say,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39the northern two thirds of the country.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42And then into the weekend. Once the weather fronts have gone,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44it looks like this high pressure will start to build.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46This high pressure's going to do one of two things.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49First of all, in the south, west and central parts of the country

0:02:49 > 0:02:53it'll be calm, so we could see a return of mist and fog here.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55But northern and eastern areas,

0:02:55 > 0:02:58quite a stiff wind blowing out of the north or the north-west.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01So the thinking is that that high pressure which is going to

0:03:01 > 0:03:04be affecting many central and south- western areas through Saturday

0:03:04 > 0:03:07will probably drift across the UK into Sunday

0:03:07 > 0:03:11and we'll all be under the influence of that high pressure,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14and the thinking is it won't be sticking around just through

0:03:14 > 0:03:16the weekend but also well into next week.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19So here's the summary for next week.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22The high pressure persists, it'll be fairly chilly,

0:03:22 > 0:03:26and with that will come a risk of frost and fog.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28That's it from me. Thanks for watching.
