0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello. It's time to get a check on the weather for the next few days,

0:00:05 > 0:00:09and in the short-term it's going to remain fairly quiet.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12One thing worth mentioning - on Wednesday morning

0:00:12 > 0:00:15there could be a fair bit of fog around across England and Wales.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18Some of the fog patches could be quite dense, they might last

0:00:18 > 0:00:21right through the morning, possibly into the afternoon,

0:00:21 > 0:00:25but I think for most of us it shouldn't be too foggy first thing.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28But where the fog does linger, it'll probably be across

0:00:28 > 0:00:31parts of England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33I don't think there will be any fog problems here.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36So Wednesday itself, overall, across the country,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38especially the southern half of the UK,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41it is going to be quite a cloudy day and in one or two spots

0:00:41 > 0:00:44we'll have a some drizzle as well, for example, southern

0:00:44 > 0:00:46parts of Wales, maybe around the east of England, too.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49But certainly not the case across the bulk of Scotland

0:00:49 > 0:00:53and Northern Ireland. Wednesday is going to be bright,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55quite sunny, but it's not going to be warm -

0:00:55 > 0:00:58temperatures only around 8 degrees.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Then we go into Yorkshire, you can see where all the cloud is,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03it's looking quite damp across Lincolnshire,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05maybe some of that fog lingering here across

0:01:05 > 0:01:08the East Midlands into East Anglia, possibly the south,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10but you'll also notice that the clouds in one or

0:01:10 > 0:01:13two areas is breaking up. It's very difficult in this

0:01:13 > 0:01:16situation to tell you exactly where every break

0:01:16 > 0:01:18in the cloud is going to be, but suffice to say

0:01:18 > 0:01:21it's going to be quite a cloudy sort of day.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25On Thursday we see a weather front moving in out of the north-west

0:01:25 > 0:01:28and you can see it here. This might bring a spell of

0:01:28 > 0:01:31quite heavy rain, at least for a short time,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34across some northern parts of the UK, but behind it

0:01:34 > 0:01:37the skies will clear and we'll start to see colder air

0:01:37 > 0:01:40moving in. So you can see how clear it is across Scotland,

0:01:40 > 0:01:42Northern Ireland and the north of England,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44whereas in central and southern areas here

0:01:44 > 0:01:47we still hang on to that cloud and that slightly milder weather.

0:01:47 > 0:01:51The cold front is through by this stage, Friday morning,

0:01:51 > 0:01:55high pressure builds in, especially across southern parts

0:01:55 > 0:01:58of the UK, so we're all in that colder air.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00But it will feel particularly cold across Scotland

0:02:00 > 0:02:03because this is where the winds are going to be strong.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05We can see a lot of mild air out the Atlantic that will

0:02:05 > 0:02:09eventually come back our way, but not as far as Friday

0:02:09 > 0:02:12is concerned. A lot of sunshine out there with just a few

0:02:12 > 0:02:15blustery showers across Scotland. You can see the

0:02:15 > 0:02:18temperatures are mostly into single figures.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21After a fairly cold Friday, Saturday morning could

0:02:21 > 0:02:24be quite frosty almost anywhere in the UK,

0:02:24 > 0:02:27so a nippy start and those temperatures single figures

0:02:27 > 0:02:30across most parts of the UK, maybe nudging up to

0:02:30 > 0:02:36double figures depending on how much sunshine we're going to get.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38And as we head into Sunday this is where the change is.

0:02:38 > 0:02:43If you were watching yesterday, I mentioned that the weekend

0:02:43 > 0:02:46is looking completely dry. This has actually changed now

0:02:46 > 0:02:50and on Sunday we are in fact anticipating an area

0:02:50 > 0:02:55of low pressure to move into the UK and bring some wet weather

0:02:55 > 0:02:57to particularly western areas of the country.

0:02:57 > 0:03:03And that low pressure is going to be barrelling through Sunday and Monday

0:03:03 > 0:03:07and now the current thinking is that once we're through this

0:03:07 > 0:03:10wet period Sunday and Monday, by the time we get to Tuesday,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12that low moves out into the north

0:03:12 > 0:03:14and high pressure starts to build.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17But I must warn you that the outlook,

0:03:17 > 0:03:21the details for the outlook, are still a little bit uncertain.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23So, next week, we've got that mild,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26wettish start with the low pressure coming in, then the high builds,

0:03:26 > 0:03:28and there's a risk of more frost

0:03:28 > 0:03:29and fog later in the week.
