0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. It's time to find out what the weather's up to over the next
0:00:04 > 0:00:07few days, and in the short term, we're fairly confident,
0:00:07 > 0:00:09as is often the case,
0:00:09 > 0:00:12but when it comes to around about Sunday time, that period,
0:00:12 > 0:00:15that's when the confidence goes downhill a little bit.
0:00:15 > 0:00:18In the short term, through the early hours of Thursday,
0:00:18 > 0:00:20there's still a lot of mist and murk around.
0:00:20 > 0:00:23You can see a lot of cloud on the satellite picture here.
0:00:23 > 0:00:27But this area of cloud here, that's a cold front, and that cold front
0:00:27 > 0:00:33will be introducing a shot of colder air over the next 24 hours or so.
0:00:33 > 0:00:35And this process is going to be happening through the early
0:00:35 > 0:00:38hours of Thursday. Here's our cold front.
0:00:38 > 0:00:41The rain marches into Northern Ireland and Scotland.
0:00:41 > 0:00:45Behind it, Atlantic winds drag in that polar air, so you can see
0:00:45 > 0:00:48temperatures dipping down to six there in Glasgow.
0:00:48 > 0:00:52Still relatively mild across the south, around ten degrees.
0:00:52 > 0:00:54So, let's have a look at the weather on Thursday morning.
0:00:54 > 0:00:57In the south, it's still a mild start,
0:00:57 > 0:00:59temperatures around double figures.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02You can see ten degrees there in London, 11 in Southampton.
0:01:02 > 0:01:04Still a little bit of drizzle around.
0:01:04 > 0:01:06And then we get to around about the north-west of England,
0:01:06 > 0:01:08around the Lake District here and into Newcastle.
0:01:08 > 0:01:12This is where the cold front is, and the other side of that
0:01:12 > 0:01:14there's quite a marked drop in the temperature.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16The winds are quite strong, as well,
0:01:16 > 0:01:18possibly up to gale force there, and a number of showers
0:01:18 > 0:01:21moving through parts of north-western Scotland.
0:01:21 > 0:01:24So, our front makes its journey further southwards during the course
0:01:24 > 0:01:27of Thursday, bringing a spell of rain for some of us,
0:01:27 > 0:01:30but really, by the end of the day,
0:01:30 > 0:01:33the northern two thirds of the country are in that crisp,
0:01:33 > 0:01:36cold air, whereas in the south it's still relatively mild.
0:01:36 > 0:01:39And then eventually, Thursday night into Friday,
0:01:39 > 0:01:41that cold front moves out of the way.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43There's another little one affecting Scotland,
0:01:43 > 0:01:45but the main message is the high pressure builds,
0:01:45 > 0:01:49so across most parts of the country it starts off on a sunny note.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51In fact, Friday's going to be a beautiful day,
0:01:51 > 0:01:53apart from Scotland, where you'll have showers.
0:01:53 > 0:01:55This little mini cold front moves through
0:01:55 > 0:01:59and brings some blustery showers, maybe even wintry across the hills.
0:01:59 > 0:02:02Friday night is expected to be clear, which means that
0:02:02 > 0:02:06Saturday morning is going to be frosty, particularly out of town.
0:02:06 > 0:02:09There'll be a lot of dry and bright weather around,
0:02:09 > 0:02:13apart from a few showers maybe closer towards the east,
0:02:13 > 0:02:16and those temperatures typically between seven and ten degrees.
0:02:16 > 0:02:21And then Saturday, after a relatively decent day, comes Sunday.
0:02:21 > 0:02:25This low pressure starts marching in, we think.
0:02:25 > 0:02:28It looks like rain will eventually reach western areas
0:02:28 > 0:02:32sometime on Sunday, but many central and eastern areas
0:02:32 > 0:02:34may actually get away with a dry day.
0:02:34 > 0:02:36It's the timing that's proving a little bit tricky with that rain,
0:02:36 > 0:02:40but eventually, what will happen with this low here,
0:02:40 > 0:02:43later on Sunday it moves through. So, this is Sunday night.
0:02:43 > 0:02:45You can see most of us get a bit of rain.
0:02:45 > 0:02:47And then Monday, that rain clears out of the way.
0:02:47 > 0:02:50So on Monday we're in-between weather systems here,
0:02:50 > 0:02:53so we think that Monday should be a fairly decent day.
0:02:53 > 0:02:55So once again it's that dodgy period between Sunday
0:02:55 > 0:03:00and Monday - we're not entirely sure when the rain clears through.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03And then beyond that, the thinking is that another low pressure
0:03:03 > 0:03:06might move in, so about Wednesday time,
0:03:06 > 0:03:07and it's going to be a typical picture,
0:03:07 > 0:03:10drawing up slightly milder air from the south,
0:03:10 > 0:03:12and then behind the back side of this low we'll see colder,
0:03:12 > 0:03:14again polar air coming in,
0:03:14 > 0:03:17so a very typical scenario for this time of the year.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19So the vague message is for next week
0:03:19 > 0:03:21chilly and blustery across the north, which is
0:03:21 > 0:03:23what you'd expect this time of year, and just that little bit
0:03:23 > 0:03:26milder and perhaps wetter, given the
0:03:26 > 0:03:29lows go further south, in the south. Bye-bye.
