0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. There are many faces to autumn and,

0:00:04 > 0:00:07recently, we've been seeing the quieter side of the season.

0:00:07 > 0:00:11There's been light winds through much of this week so mist and fog

0:00:11 > 0:00:13has been a problem through the morning.

0:00:13 > 0:00:14Slow to clear in places.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16And with clear skies and temperatures

0:00:16 > 0:00:18below zero, many of us have been

0:00:18 > 0:00:21waking up to a frost. Also, plenty of sunshine

0:00:21 > 0:00:23by day. So, where's the wet and windy

0:00:23 > 0:00:25weather that we normally associate with autumn?

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Well, it's on its way this week.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29The Atlantic is going to be the influence

0:00:29 > 0:00:31for our weather through much of the week,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33pushing up multiple frontal systems across.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35So, that means there's going to be

0:00:35 > 0:00:37some outbreaks of rain on most days,

0:00:37 > 0:00:38some of it is likely to be heavy.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41It will also be quite windy, especially through the middle

0:00:41 > 0:00:43and latter half of the week.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46But it will be turning much milder for many of us.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48We start Monday on a fairly wet note.

0:00:48 > 0:00:49There will be some snow over

0:00:49 > 0:00:51the Scottish mountains for a time.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53That rain slowly clearing for Northern Ireland,

0:00:53 > 0:00:54Scotland may take its time to clear

0:00:54 > 0:00:56from the eastern side of England.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Behind it, some brighter skies

0:00:58 > 0:01:00and not so much rain the further

0:01:00 > 0:01:01south and west that you are.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Certainly, a milder day here.

0:01:03 > 0:01:0512-13 Celsius but still holding on

0:01:05 > 0:01:06to something cooler

0:01:06 > 0:01:09for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:09 > 0:01:10Now, we've been having a bit of

0:01:10 > 0:01:11a battle in recent days between

0:01:11 > 0:01:12the cold air to the east

0:01:12 > 0:01:14and something milder to the west.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16And as we go through next week,

0:01:16 > 0:01:17it looks like that mild air will

0:01:17 > 0:01:18win through for most,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20although eventually something colder

0:01:20 > 0:01:22returns to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24It's quite a messy picture as we go into Tuesday.

0:01:24 > 0:01:25There's another frontal system

0:01:25 > 0:01:27approaching and that will bring

0:01:27 > 0:01:28some heavy outbreaks of rain,

0:01:28 > 0:01:29mainly to Scotland, Northern Ireland,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31northern England and eventually later

0:01:31 > 0:01:33in the day into Wales and south-west England.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35Looks like at this stage

0:01:35 > 0:01:36the further south and east you are

0:01:36 > 0:01:37holding on to something drier,

0:01:37 > 0:01:40maybe brighter, but notice the strength of the wind,

0:01:40 > 0:01:41particularly across western coasts,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43likely to touch gale force here.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45But mild, 12-14 Celsius

0:01:45 > 0:01:47for much of England and Wales.

0:01:47 > 0:01:48Still struggling to get

0:01:48 > 0:01:49to double figures for Scotland.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51Another unsettled day on Wednesday.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53The wettest weather for Northern Ireland.

0:01:53 > 0:01:54Southern parts of Scotland,

0:01:54 > 0:01:56down through Wales and south-west England,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59strong winds here, touching gale force in places.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Dry and brighter potentially

0:02:01 > 0:02:02again the further east you are, and mild,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04maybe 15 Celsius

0:02:04 > 0:02:06across the south-east on Wednesday.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08But look at the amount

0:02:08 > 0:02:10of isobars as we go into Thursday.

0:02:10 > 0:02:11Tightly packed together.

0:02:11 > 0:02:12That means some strong winds.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14Low pressure nearby

0:02:14 > 0:02:16pushing another frontal system across.

0:02:16 > 0:02:17So, there will be more rain.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Once again, probably the further west you are

0:02:19 > 0:02:21is where the wettest weather will be.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23As you had further east,

0:02:23 > 0:02:26it's drier and still mild, 13-14 Celsius.

0:02:26 > 0:02:27There's more wet weather

0:02:27 > 0:02:29pushing into Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32There's not much change as we go into Friday.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33We keep those strong winds,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35we keep further outbreaks of rain.

0:02:35 > 0:02:36The thing to pick up on

0:02:36 > 0:02:38for the end of the week

0:02:38 > 0:02:39is that rain is likely to become much heavier

0:02:39 > 0:02:41across central and southern England.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43Maybe with a rumble of thunder

0:02:43 > 0:02:46and still some strong, if not gale force, winds.

0:02:46 > 0:02:47Mild here, starting to see

0:02:47 > 0:02:50something colder and quieter returning

0:02:50 > 0:02:52to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54If you were watching yesterday, Tom talked about

0:02:54 > 0:02:56the potential for this colder air

0:02:56 > 0:02:58to plunge across the country through the weekend.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00There's still a chance that could happen.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02We hold on to the cold air across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04But now there is some thought

0:03:04 > 0:03:06that England and Wales will keep

0:03:06 > 0:03:07this Atlantic influence

0:03:07 > 0:03:08not just through the weekend

0:03:08 > 0:03:10but into next week as well.

0:03:10 > 0:03:11So, still windy,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13and still some outbreaks of rain.

0:03:13 > 0:03:14Now, there's a lot to play for

0:03:14 > 0:03:16this far ahead but it looks like

0:03:16 > 0:03:18it's going to the following week,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20we'll hang onto that Atlantic influence,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22particularly across England and Wales.

0:03:22 > 0:03:23Wettest weather in the west,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25the coldest conditions in the north

0:03:25 > 0:03:27with still the chance of some snow

0:03:27 > 0:03:29for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
