0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. I'm sure you know the score by now.
0:00:04 > 0:00:06We do the detail for this week then look at the trends
0:00:06 > 0:00:09that may affect the British Isles in the forthcoming week.
0:00:09 > 0:00:12But first of all to the here and now, almost.
0:00:12 > 0:00:14Watch out for the dry start,
0:00:14 > 0:00:17because it could be an icy start across central, northern
0:00:17 > 0:00:20and eastern parts of the British Isles, having had overnight rain.
0:00:20 > 0:00:22And then don't be fooled by the dry start,
0:00:22 > 0:00:25because here comes the first belt of weather for the day,
0:00:25 > 0:00:28moving from west to east on what is going to be a milder day
0:00:28 > 0:00:30across the southern parts of the British Isles.
0:00:30 > 0:00:32Further north, still on the cool side,
0:00:32 > 0:00:34and into that cool air we push more moisture.
0:00:34 > 0:00:38And look, significant snowfall just in time for the evening rush hour
0:00:38 > 0:00:41quite widely across northern parts of the British Isles.
0:00:41 > 0:00:45Here we are on Thursday. We've got a belt of weather
0:00:45 > 0:00:48just gradually tracking its way ever further towards the east.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50Behind it, a lot of isobars there.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52It'll be a windy old do, especially in the southern
0:00:52 > 0:00:54half of Britain as we get on through Thursday,
0:00:54 > 0:00:56yet again urging copious showers,
0:00:56 > 0:01:01some of these wintry in nature, across England and Wales.
0:01:01 > 0:01:04Look at this, close by to Glasgow and Edinburgh, throughout
0:01:04 > 0:01:09the day we could have a period of continuous snow, something to watch.
0:01:09 > 0:01:11We'll update you on that, of course,
0:01:11 > 0:01:14as we move through the next 24 hours or so.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16As I say, Thursday a windy day,
0:01:16 > 0:01:18but with the wind in the west and south-west.
0:01:18 > 0:01:21But look, out of Thursday into Friday,
0:01:21 > 0:01:22we get these isobars running
0:01:22 > 0:01:26- and we've done this to you before - north to south.
0:01:26 > 0:01:29So, cold air streaming down these isobars.
0:01:29 > 0:01:33The shower distribution around the shoulders of the British Isles,
0:01:33 > 0:01:35down the spine a lot of sunshine, a lot of dry weather,
0:01:35 > 0:01:37not a lot of heat.
0:01:37 > 0:01:41But that is a short, sharp shock, because through the day on Saturday,
0:01:41 > 0:01:45we're just beginning to crank the isobars back to a north-westerly,
0:01:45 > 0:01:49and at the same time we'll just see the first signs,
0:01:49 > 0:01:52as we get on through the weekend, of milder air trying to displace
0:01:52 > 0:01:56that pool of cold air off towards the near Continent.
0:01:56 > 0:01:58That is a very slow process.
0:01:58 > 0:02:01Do not expect to see this transformation in the eastern
0:02:01 > 0:02:03parts of the British Isles
0:02:03 > 0:02:06until perhaps into the start of the forthcoming week.
0:02:06 > 0:02:09Here we are on Saturday, a cold and frosty start, a north-westerly
0:02:09 > 0:02:13breeze urging the showers into some of these northern and western parts.
0:02:13 > 0:02:15Out east, the very best of the sunshine,
0:02:15 > 0:02:17but you've probably got the strongest of the breezes.
0:02:17 > 0:02:20And it won't feel particularly warm. Remember what I said,
0:02:20 > 0:02:23it's going to take a while before all the mild air ahead of this
0:02:23 > 0:02:27next Atlantic front really makes it right across the British Isles.
0:02:27 > 0:02:31That weather front robs northern and western parts of their sunshine
0:02:31 > 0:02:33as we get on into Sunday,
0:02:33 > 0:02:37but we do see the first signs of that upping of the temperatures
0:02:37 > 0:02:40across these western areas - eight, nine, ten or eleven.
0:02:40 > 0:02:43And we complete the process as we get on into Monday.
0:02:43 > 0:02:46The disturbed weather locked across northern parts of the British Isles,
0:02:46 > 0:02:50further south, drier, finer conditions break out, and
0:02:50 > 0:02:52they're coupled with temperatures
0:02:52 > 0:02:54that are on eight, nine, ten or eleven degrees.
0:02:54 > 0:02:58Further ahead, we rather stick in that pattern.
0:02:58 > 0:02:59Having established, I would have thought,
0:02:59 > 0:03:02the first part of the forthcoming week we'd see the wet
0:03:02 > 0:03:04and windy fare confined to northern
0:03:04 > 0:03:07and north-western parts of the British Isles
0:03:07 > 0:03:10- it could be really quite windy at times, as well - further south,
0:03:10 > 0:03:12there's a chance of something a little bit drier,
0:03:12 > 0:03:15a little bit finer and nowhere near as cold as we've seen it.
0:03:15 > 0:03:19Temperatures, I think, will be for the most part higher than
0:03:19 > 0:03:21we would have expected for this time of year.
0:03:21 > 0:03:24It will, however, especially in the north, be often windy.
0:03:24 > 0:03:28That pattern really opens the door to very changeable conditions.
