0:00:02 > 0:00:04I'm just going to give you our latest

0:00:04 > 0:00:05thoughts on how the weather is going to pan out.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08We'll do that in some detail over the next few days.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11Then as we push towards that all-important Christmas period

0:00:11 > 0:00:12then I'll give you some of the

0:00:12 > 0:00:14trends as we see them at the moment.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17Looking pretty Christmas-y in some locations at the moment.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21The vestiges of what fell last weekend for the most part

0:00:21 > 0:00:23still there across Wales and the Midlands.

0:00:23 > 0:00:27But a little bit further south than that no great complaints

0:00:27 > 0:00:28coming out of Guernsey.

0:00:28 > 0:00:32Saturday was a glorious day but there is a change on the way.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34It's there from the word go in Scotland, Northern Ireland

0:00:34 > 0:00:37and increasingly through the western

0:00:37 > 0:00:39side of England down through Wales.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41And through the day will push the cloud and wind

0:00:41 > 0:00:44and rain ever further east.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46But that allows Scotland and Northern Ireland to see

0:00:46 > 0:00:49a little bit of sunshine before the day is done.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52And a sign of slightly milder conditions trying to

0:00:52 > 0:00:54get into most parts of the British Isles.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57Although it may not seem that way across East Anglia.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59Through the evening and overnight we'll drag that weather front

0:00:59 > 0:01:02ever further towards the near continent.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05Following behind a ridge of high pressure clearing the skies

0:01:05 > 0:01:07and allowing the temperatures to dip away.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10I suspect these will be some of the early values as you wake

0:01:10 > 0:01:13up on Monday morning. Even in the south it may be a good deal

0:01:13 > 0:01:16cooler and fresher than that.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19That's Sunday into Monday is the last of the cold air

0:01:19 > 0:01:22I think we'll see for a little

0:01:22 > 0:01:24while because away to the west is where we're going to be

0:01:24 > 0:01:28looking for our weather over the next few days or so.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30There's a lot of relatively mild air.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34Towards the east bright and crisp but as the day goes on we'll

0:01:34 > 0:01:37fill in the cloud across these western areas.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Some of those western spots benefiting straight

0:01:40 > 0:01:42away from that milder air.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45Pushing the temperatures to 10-11 degrees.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48In the first half of the week a lot of dry weather around.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Because of what I've already shown you it will be on the mild side

0:01:51 > 0:01:53compared to where some of you have been.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57But it will be at the expense of not a lot of sunshine

0:01:57 > 0:01:58and quite a bit of cloud.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01You see what it's doing for the temperatures,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03many more getting closer to the

0:02:03 > 0:02:05promised land of double figures.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08But as we move from Tuesday on into Wednesday first

0:02:08 > 0:02:10signs of a cold weather front

0:02:10 > 0:02:11working its way slowly

0:02:11 > 0:02:13but surely down and across the British Isles.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16It will bring with it the chance of some rain

0:02:16 > 0:02:19and I think it will be rain rather than snow.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Still that mild air sits ahead of it primarily.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24First signs of the temperatures wanting to dip

0:02:24 > 0:02:27away across the northern areas as you become more

0:02:27 > 0:02:29dominated by an area of high pressure.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31A lot of dry weather.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35But it does mean we're going to cool things off relatively speaking

0:02:35 > 0:02:38from those lofty heights of a lot of double figures we'll be back

0:02:38 > 0:02:41towards upper end single figures as

0:02:41 > 0:02:43we get towards the end of the week.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45For that we have to thank the fact

0:02:45 > 0:02:46that we're still running

0:02:46 > 0:02:47the air between the high

0:02:47 > 0:02:48pressure in the south

0:02:48 > 0:02:51and low pressure further north.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54That sets us up with a westerly or south-westerly,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57a track that takes over mild waters in the Atlantic.

0:02:57 > 0:03:02No signs of a beast from the east bringing in some Siberian chill.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06Towards Christmas itself we suspect the high pressure will be

0:03:06 > 0:03:09there or there abouts across the south but it may slip away

0:03:09 > 0:03:13and that could open the door to a succession of lows.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15Some of these could be quite deep

0:03:15 > 0:03:19so that offers the prospect of some wet and windy fare

0:03:19 > 0:03:24just as we get on towards Christmas but mainly mild, could be cooler

0:03:24 > 0:03:27in the north for a time but as I say, potentially for some,

0:03:27 > 0:03:28wet and windy.
