0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. Since we had that run of a couple of named storms,
0:00:04 > 0:00:06things have been quite quiet on the weather front,
0:00:06 > 0:00:08but it's that time of year
0:00:08 > 0:00:10and you wouldn't expect that spell of quiet weather
0:00:10 > 0:00:13to last for any great length of time,
0:00:13 > 0:00:14and a look at Friday's chart
0:00:14 > 0:00:17shows there is signs of a change out towards
0:00:17 > 0:00:19the west, but before that arrives,
0:00:19 > 0:00:22we still have that quiet look to the weather,
0:00:22 > 0:00:25and that tends to mean fog at this time of year.
0:00:25 > 0:00:27It will be there again,
0:00:27 > 0:00:29not necessarily where it's been in recent nights.
0:00:29 > 0:00:32There is that risk for central and western parts particularly,
0:00:32 > 0:00:34but as the day gets going,
0:00:34 > 0:00:36there will be sunshine across western areas,
0:00:36 > 0:00:38and a speckling of showers.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40Not much more than that.
0:00:40 > 0:00:42Some of you may even stay dry all day.
0:00:42 > 0:00:45Just because we'll see more in the way of breeze
0:00:45 > 0:00:49into Saturday, the fog risk is much reduced,
0:00:49 > 0:00:52but we are going to replace it with another type of weather -
0:00:52 > 0:00:54in the form of an active weather front.
0:00:54 > 0:00:57Certainly for western parts on Saturday,
0:00:57 > 0:00:59there could be quite a bit of rain
0:00:59 > 0:01:01across Northern Ireland initially,
0:01:01 > 0:01:03then swinging into western Scotland, Wales
0:01:03 > 0:01:05and the western side of England.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08Further east, not too much in the way of sunshine, I'm afraid.
0:01:08 > 0:01:11At its thickest, the cloud, even away from that frontal system,
0:01:11 > 0:01:14just generating the odd showery burst of rain.
0:01:14 > 0:01:17That'll be the case getting up into the Northern Isles.
0:01:17 > 0:01:19That same weather front
0:01:19 > 0:01:21is making heavy weather
0:01:21 > 0:01:23of getting further towards the east,
0:01:23 > 0:01:24and it weakens all the while
0:01:24 > 0:01:27as it runs into that area of high pressure,
0:01:27 > 0:01:30so it'll be more of a band of cloud with the odd spot of rain,
0:01:30 > 0:01:32not much more than that, come Sunday.
0:01:32 > 0:01:33Towards the northwest,
0:01:33 > 0:01:35a more active weather system
0:01:35 > 0:01:37brings another spell of wet and windy weather,
0:01:37 > 0:01:39initially into the northwest
0:01:39 > 0:01:42but as we get on through Monday,
0:01:42 > 0:01:43there is no escape.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45You will at some point
0:01:45 > 0:01:47see that spell of wet and windy weather
0:01:47 > 0:01:49wherever you're spending the day.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51There is some doubt at this range
0:01:51 > 0:01:54as to how quickly that rain will get away
0:01:54 > 0:01:55from the southeast.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58No more the south and south-westerly breezes.
0:01:58 > 0:02:00Once that front is through,
0:02:00 > 0:02:02look where the wind is coming from.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04Trace the isobars back
0:02:04 > 0:02:07and they arc away towards the western side of Iceland
0:02:07 > 0:02:09and up towards the Arctic.
0:02:09 > 0:02:11There will be a different feel
0:02:11 > 0:02:14to the days as we move out of Monday
0:02:14 > 0:02:16through to Tuesday, Wednesday,
0:02:16 > 0:02:17Thursday and perhaps as far ahead
0:02:17 > 0:02:19as Friday,
0:02:19 > 0:02:21so the early part of next week,
0:02:21 > 0:02:23the mild air is away to the south of us,
0:02:23 > 0:02:26we are very much on the cold side of the jet stream,
0:02:26 > 0:02:28there'll be plenty of wind
0:02:28 > 0:02:30and across the top two-thirds of the British Isles,
0:02:30 > 0:02:32those showers will be wintry
0:02:32 > 0:02:34and snow will begin to accumulate.
0:02:34 > 0:02:35That regime will do us
0:02:35 > 0:02:37from about late Monday
0:02:37 > 0:02:39on through Tuesday, Wednesday,
0:02:39 > 0:02:41Thursday and into Friday.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43By the end of the week, we'll have
0:02:43 > 0:02:45low pressure towards the northwest
0:02:45 > 0:02:46but in the early part
0:02:46 > 0:02:48of the weekend, it may well
0:02:48 > 0:02:50slip away towards the near Continent
0:02:50 > 0:02:52and that will allow a change in wind direction,
0:02:52 > 0:02:55and that means a change in the shower distribution.
0:02:55 > 0:02:57That is but a brief interlude.
0:02:57 > 0:02:59Sunday and the first part of Monday
0:02:59 > 0:03:02perhaps, it'll be quiet for a time
0:03:02 > 0:03:03and then the low pressure goes
0:03:03 > 0:03:05back to where we've seen it
0:03:05 > 0:03:07for a few days - high pressure
0:03:07 > 0:03:09well away towards the Azores -
0:03:09 > 0:03:11but that does leave us again
0:03:11 > 0:03:12with quite a noticeable flow
0:03:12 > 0:03:14coming in from the west
0:03:14 > 0:03:16or just north of west.
0:03:16 > 0:03:18That's some way off.
0:03:18 > 0:03:19The next week is going to be
0:03:19 > 0:03:21often windy, really quite wintry
0:03:21 > 0:03:23with those showers,
0:03:23 > 0:03:24and there is just that chance
0:03:24 > 0:03:26it'll turn colder for a time.
0:03:26 > 0:03:27Wherever you are, take care.
0:03:27 > 0:03:29Bye-bye.
