0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello, there. This weekend's weather is looking very disappointing

0:00:04 > 0:00:06for many. Very wintry conditions,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08again with some of the hazards of snow and ice

0:00:08 > 0:00:10and for many central, southern areas,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12it was a pretty disappointing Saturday.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15But glorious conditions across Scotland, albeit very cold.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17Further south, though, we had a persistent weather front

0:00:17 > 0:00:19which brought outbreaks of rain, low cloud

0:00:19 > 0:00:22and there was further sleet and snow,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25certainly over the higher ground. Now, just a peak into next week.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28It looks like we're going to lose this cold air that we've had

0:00:28 > 0:00:31for quite a while and see a return to the mild southwesterlies

0:00:31 > 0:00:35which will be with us for much of the new working week.

0:00:35 > 0:00:36But it looks like things may turn a little bit

0:00:36 > 0:00:38unsettled around the middle part of the week,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40so I'll show you towards the end of this bulletin.

0:00:40 > 0:00:41Let's take a look at Sunday now

0:00:41 > 0:00:43and it looks like being another unsettled one,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45a band of rain spreading in from the west through the morning.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47It will continue its journey eastwards.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49There'll be some sleet and snow on its leading edge,

0:00:49 > 0:00:52across far parts of the south east, through the midlands,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55certainly across the Pennines and into towards Scotland,

0:00:55 > 0:00:58where it will feel cold and raw here all day.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Signs of that milder air making in-roads across the south-west

0:01:01 > 0:01:04but here there will be some pretty heavy rain at times.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07So that weather system will clear through on Sunday and we start

0:01:07 > 0:01:12to pick up the Atlantic westerlies introducing that milder air.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Brief ridge of high pressure moves in for Monday,

0:01:15 > 0:01:16so things will settle down.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19We'll lose the rain across the south-east

0:01:19 > 0:01:22and across the north of the country and then it's a breezy day.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25Westerly winds feeding in a few showers across western hills.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28There'll be some good breaks in the clouds in between the showers,

0:01:28 > 0:01:29with some sunny spells,

0:01:29 > 0:01:32and it will feel that little bit milder across the board.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34Double figure values across the south.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37As we head on towards Tuesday, the winds veer to a more

0:01:37 > 0:01:41south-westerly across the country, always a pretty warm direction.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44It will feed a lot of moisture, a lot of cloud across southern

0:01:44 > 0:01:47and western areas, particularly over hills

0:01:47 > 0:01:48and coasts have some low cloud.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50But given any brightness through central

0:01:50 > 0:01:52and eastern parts it will feel very mild indeed.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55In fact, Tuesday's probably looking like being the mildest

0:01:55 > 0:02:00day of the week, with temperatures for most of us in double figures.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Now, as he head on towards the middle part of the week,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04I think there's signs of something a bit more unsettled

0:02:04 > 0:02:06moving in around this area of low pressure.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08It's this feature here, a secondary low,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10which could bring a spell of wetter

0:02:10 > 0:02:13and windier weather to our shores during the course of Wednesday.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17Another pretty mild day but it looks like, as that feature runs in,

0:02:17 > 0:02:19the winds will pick up, reach gale force in places.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Some pretty heavy rain for a time for England and Wales

0:02:21 > 0:02:24before moving on in towards Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26As that pulls away,

0:02:26 > 0:02:28though, it allows northerly winds to move in to the northern

0:02:28 > 0:02:31half of the country, so here turning a little bit cooler on Thursday.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33Still fairly mild in the south but quite blustery,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35with sunshine and showers.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Now, as we head on in towards Friday,

0:02:37 > 0:02:39that area of low pressure eventually clears away

0:02:39 > 0:02:43but it does open the floodgates to a more northerly through Friday,

0:02:43 > 0:02:47so it looks like temperatures across the board a touch cooler.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49There are temperatures back in to single figures,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51although not as cold as what we have seen of late.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53But there should be some sunshine around too

0:02:53 > 0:02:55and those winds generally light.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57But it's a flip-flopping situation

0:02:57 > 0:02:59as we head on in towards the weekend.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01It looks like another plume of milder air will make

0:03:01 > 0:03:03in-roads from the south-west.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06So it's quite a mixed week but one thing's for sure -

0:03:06 > 0:03:08it's certainly going to be much milder than it has been of late

0:03:08 > 0:03:11but Tuesday perhaps looking like being the mildest day of the week.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14And then around the middle part of the week it turns more

0:03:14 > 0:03:16unsettled with spells of rain, heavy at times.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Quite windy too, with a risk of gales and, as I showed you,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22it'll turn a little bit cooler for a while before again turning

0:03:22 > 0:03:25milder as we head on in to the new weekend. So that's how it's looking.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26Bye for now.
