0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello, there. This weekend has already

0:00:03 > 0:00:05brought us some very mild weather.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08There's more to come during Sunday but, as so often at this

0:00:08 > 0:00:12time of year, the price we pay for mild weather is cloudy weather.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15We have had grey skies overhead in many places during Saturday,

0:00:15 > 0:00:19outbreaks of rain as well, and we'll keep the cloud,

0:00:19 > 0:00:21pushing in from the west on Sunday, these mild,

0:00:21 > 0:00:24moist south-westerly winds coming in off the Atlantic.

0:00:24 > 0:00:28And, stuck in that westerly airflow, we will have this weather front,

0:00:28 > 0:00:32rather stranded, unable to move very far north or very far south.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34So rain just continues through the day on Sunday,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36through central and southern parts of Scotland.

0:00:36 > 0:00:39To the north of that, something a little bit brighter but colder.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41To the south, where we have all the cloud, well,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43that's where the mildest of the weather will be.

0:00:43 > 0:00:44And if you get lucky

0:00:44 > 0:00:47and that cloud does break up for any length of time and you get

0:00:47 > 0:00:52some sunshine, well, here, you could get to 14 or 15 Celsius.

0:00:52 > 0:00:54Now, as we move out of Sunday into Monday,

0:00:54 > 0:00:57that weather front which will have been stuck across northern areas

0:00:57 > 0:01:00finally gets its act together and pushes south as a cold front.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02So as the name suggests, behind it,

0:01:02 > 0:01:05we will see colder weather working its way in.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07During Monday, along the frontal band, we'll see

0:01:07 > 0:01:10outbreaks of heavy rain sliding southwards across England and Wales.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Behind that rain band, that's where we get into that colder air

0:01:13 > 0:01:16but that is also where we get to see some brightness,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18some spells of sunshine developing.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Some showers, which could be wintry over high ground in the north-west.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25Those temperatures dropping away, as the day goes on,

0:01:25 > 0:01:26behind that weather front.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Now, as we move into Tuesday, this area

0:01:28 > 0:01:32of high pressure tries to take a bit more control of the weather,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35so Tuesday actually not a bad day in many places.

0:01:35 > 0:01:36Could be a touch of frost,

0:01:36 > 0:01:39particularly down towards the south on Tuesday morning.

0:01:39 > 0:01:40Then we'll see some spells of sunshine,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43but a two-pronged attack from weather systems,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45one pushing in towards the south-west,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47so there could be some here later in the day

0:01:47 > 0:01:49and another weather system moving in towards the north-west.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51That'll bring some heavy rain, we suspect,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53across the north-west of Scotland.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55And these two weather systems will essentially join

0:01:55 > 0:01:57together during Tuesday night.

0:01:57 > 0:02:01They will then slide southwards and eastwards and we get back into some

0:02:01 > 0:02:06colder air, north-westerly winds bringing a drop in the temperatures.

0:02:06 > 0:02:07But, once again,

0:02:07 > 0:02:12with that cold air we should get to see some spells of sunshine.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14But you will notice, at this stage on Wednesday,

0:02:14 > 0:02:17quite a few showers as well, these showers wintry over high ground

0:02:17 > 0:02:20towards the north-west, but perhaps even to fairly low levels

0:02:20 > 0:02:23as the day goes on, especially the further north you are.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Quite a blustery day and single-digit temperatures for many.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29And, as we move into Thursday, this area of low pressure,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31which could actually bring some very strong winds indeed

0:02:31 > 0:02:34in north-eastern areas, slides its way southwards and eastwards.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37It leaves us with a north or north-westerly wind.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39It's pretty cold weather across the country

0:02:39 > 0:02:42but the showers should tend to fade at this stage.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45We'll see more dry weather, more spells of sunshine,

0:02:45 > 0:02:46highs of 6 to 8 Celsius.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49Now, as we move towards the end of the week,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52we'll continue to lose that cluster of showers as the area of low

0:02:52 > 0:02:53pressure moves away

0:02:53 > 0:02:56and then we bring a frontal system in from the west.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59More cloud with that, outbreaks of rain, temporarily,

0:02:59 > 0:03:02with the extra cloud, remember, some milder air.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04So perhaps something a little bit milder for a time

0:03:04 > 0:03:06into the start of next weekend.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Not as mild as it has been this weekend,

0:03:08 > 0:03:12but hot on the heels of that brief incursion of milder air,

0:03:12 > 0:03:16there is more cold air that will eventually head our way,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18so generally speaking through next weekend,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20we will see spells of rain at times.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23With that, some milder air but some brighter periods too,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26cold enough in those brighter spells for some wintry showers

0:03:26 > 0:03:29and temperatures pretty variable over the next few days.
