0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello. I can't offer you spring -

0:00:03 > 0:00:06I can't even really offer you average temperatures

0:00:06 > 0:00:07for this time of year.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10Figures will still be slightly below in the week ahead,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12but what I can tell you is that the weather

0:00:12 > 0:00:15will not be as severe as the week just gone.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17Gradually, the temperature's creeping up,

0:00:17 > 0:00:19the snow is starting to thaw,

0:00:19 > 0:00:21but it's still going to stay quite unsettled.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23That could add complications, though.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25There'll be rain moving across England and Wales

0:00:25 > 0:00:28in the form of some pretty potent showers on Sunday.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30Those could result in some quite rapid thawing

0:00:30 > 0:00:31and some issues with flooding.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Snow becoming increasingly confined to higher ground

0:00:33 > 0:00:35across northern England and Northern Ireland.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Still in the cold air, however,

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Scotland picking up wintry showers,

0:00:39 > 0:00:40especially in the north and east.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43The easterly wind keeping things feeling pretty raw here.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46Further south, we're looking at highs of 8 or 9.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49We're still fetching air into the north of the UK from the east,

0:00:49 > 0:00:53but now we're circulating it round an area of low pressure,

0:00:53 > 0:00:54as opposed to blasting it round that high

0:00:54 > 0:00:56that brought us the Beast from the East,

0:00:56 > 0:00:58and what that circulating does is feed the air

0:00:58 > 0:01:01across the milder waters of the Atlantic, modifying it slightly

0:01:01 > 0:01:05so it's just not as cold as the cold air we had last week -

0:01:05 > 0:01:08hence the pale blues rather than those rather intenser colours.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10From Monday, still cold enough in the north, though,

0:01:10 > 0:01:13for us to see more snow across Scotland.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16To the south-west, chance of some heavy, thundery rain.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Elsewhere, a relatively quiet story, hopefully with some brightness.

0:01:19 > 0:01:23Look out, though, for some early patches of morning mist and fog.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Temperatures up to 10 degrees in London and Norwich.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29Here's Tuesday - again, the continued threat of some snowfall

0:01:29 > 0:01:30across northern Scotland -

0:01:30 > 0:01:32the wintry weather is not over, here, sadly.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34Some strong winds in the north, as well.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Further south, and it's showers for England and Wales,

0:01:37 > 0:01:38and for Northern Ireland,

0:01:38 > 0:01:40and some of those could turn out to be quite potent,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43but there should be some sunshine in between times, as well,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45and temperatures are 7 to 10 -

0:01:45 > 0:01:47very much different to the week just gone.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Low-pressure still with us overnight, Tuesday into Wednesday.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52It looks like the snow to the far north

0:01:52 > 0:01:55could be quite a persistent feature for Scotland

0:01:55 > 0:01:57through into the middle part of the week.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59So, still the chance for some disruption here,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02particular to the far north of the country,

0:02:02 > 0:02:03where we'll have strong winds, as well.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Elsewhere, the low becoming quite flabby.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08There could be some slow-moving showers around,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10some of them could be quite intense -

0:02:10 > 0:02:11but, in some brightness,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13I think it will feel, well, so different

0:02:13 > 0:02:15to the way it's felt the last week,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17with temperatures, as I said, in double figures.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18Bit more unsettled come Thursday,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20risk of some heavy rain into the south and east,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22and some showers coming in from the west -

0:02:22 > 0:02:25and notice the white showing its hand once again.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27Looks like they could turn wintry,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29particularly on higher ground.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31The reason we're not entirely out of the woods, of course,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34is that we're still sitting in a comparatively colder air.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38Mild air is a good way to the south of us in Europe at the moment.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41We sit to the north of the jet stream,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43and until that jet stream buckles north,

0:02:43 > 0:02:45we're not going to bring any of the milder air our way.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Later on in the period, though,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49it does look like the jet will move to the north -

0:02:49 > 0:02:50end of next week, on into next weekend,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52briefly bringing some average temperatures,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55or if not a little above, to the far south of the British Isles -

0:02:55 > 0:02:58but then the jet starts to push away eastwards again,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00and the cold air will dig down back behind it,

0:03:00 > 0:03:01and the jet also buckles,

0:03:01 > 0:03:03and that will mean a big area of low pressure

0:03:03 > 0:03:05sitting across the British Isles.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07So, next weekend, a very wet and windy period,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09particularly, I think, the chance, again,

0:03:09 > 0:03:10of something a little bit wintry

0:03:10 > 0:03:13digging further south behind the low, as well -

0:03:13 > 0:03:15but I must stress, nothing near as severe

0:03:15 > 0:03:17or as extensive as the weather we've had of late.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19So, further ahead, not as cold,

0:03:19 > 0:03:20it stays unsettled,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22but potentially some very wet and windy weather

0:03:22 > 0:03:25affecting many parts of the British Isles

0:03:25 > 0:03:26as we look on into next weekend.
