0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. Mild and unsettled pretty much covers it for the weekend.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08How long can that last through our 10-day forecast?

0:00:08 > 0:00:09Well, I'll tell you in just a moment.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11For the time being,

0:00:11 > 0:00:13let's concentrate on the here and now

0:00:13 > 0:00:15because with low pressure out to the west,

0:00:15 > 0:00:18we're drawing southerly winds across the British Isles,

0:00:18 > 0:00:21introducing some really mild air for the weekend.

0:00:21 > 0:00:26Temperatures in parts of the south getting up to 15, maybe 16 degrees,

0:00:26 > 0:00:27but with that we will see

0:00:27 > 0:00:30some outbreaks of rain at times.

0:00:30 > 0:00:31So here's how Saturday pans out.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34Outbreaks of rain moving across Wales, the Midlands,

0:00:34 > 0:00:35northern England, Northern Ireland

0:00:35 > 0:00:39and up into Scotland where we could see some snow over high ground.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41But much of what falls will be rain

0:00:41 > 0:00:44because things will become increasingly mild from the south.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Where we get breaks in the cloud,

0:00:46 > 0:00:48that's where we could get

0:00:48 > 0:00:50to 14, 15, maybe 16 degrees.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51Always that bit colder

0:00:51 > 0:00:53further north across Scotland.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56But as we move into Sunday and this area of low pressure

0:00:56 > 0:00:59continues to spin around to the west,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01we'll continue to draw southerly winds in across the country.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04So even in Scotland we can expect many places to see

0:01:04 > 0:01:06highs in double digits

0:01:06 > 0:01:07on Sunday afternoon.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10There could be a lot of mist and fog on Sunday morning.

0:01:10 > 0:01:11That should clear away,

0:01:11 > 0:01:14then a decent amount of dry weather, spells of sunshine.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Some hefty showers across southern and western areas

0:01:17 > 0:01:19of England, Wales, also into Northern Ireland.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Some of these could contain the odd rumble of thunder.

0:01:21 > 0:01:2313 degrees in London,

0:01:23 > 0:01:26but even in Aberdeen we're looking at highs of 11 degrees.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29On Monday there will be various areas of wet weather

0:01:29 > 0:01:32swarming around close to the UK.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35But in-between, some decent dry conditions for many of us.

0:01:35 > 0:01:36A lot of cloud around.

0:01:36 > 0:01:40Best chance of any breaks in that cloud, any sunny spells,

0:01:40 > 0:01:41in western areas.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Could be the odd shower here.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Those temperatures may be down a bit,

0:01:45 > 0:01:48but still fairly respectable for the time of year.

0:01:48 > 0:01:49It looks on the chart here like

0:01:49 > 0:01:52low pressure will remain in charge into Tuesday.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55But look at this bump in the isobars.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57That's a little transient ridge of high pressure.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Tuesday looks like a largely dry day for many.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Always more cloud, we suspect,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04across the eastern half of the country,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06maybe the odd shower. Best chance of sunshine out west.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09And those temperatures again doing quite well.

0:02:09 > 0:02:1210 in Edinburgh, 11 degrees in Cardiff.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14For Wednesday, we start off

0:02:14 > 0:02:16dry and bright in eastern areas,

0:02:16 > 0:02:17but it looks like we'll bring

0:02:17 > 0:02:19outbreaks of heavy rain into western areas.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21And strengthening winds as well.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24But this is obviously quite a few days ahead,

0:02:24 > 0:02:27so the timing of this weather system may change.

0:02:27 > 0:02:28Still mild, you'll notice.

0:02:28 > 0:02:3110 to 13 degrees for many.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Let's look further ahead towards the end of next week.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37The jet stream really undulating its way northwards

0:02:37 > 0:02:40and southwards as it moves across the Atlantic.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42Where we get these dips in the Jet stream,

0:02:42 > 0:02:45they'll essentially trap areas of low pressure,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47so these lows will just sit and spin

0:02:47 > 0:02:50as we head into next weekend.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53However, the change is we're likely to see an area

0:02:53 > 0:02:56of high pressure trying to build down from Scandinavia.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58And this weather set-up will give us

0:02:58 > 0:03:00something of a split in our fortunes.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03Because across many areas, particularly towards the south,

0:03:03 > 0:03:04we'll continue to see a feed

0:03:04 > 0:03:07of warm, or at least mild, south-westerly winds.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09But around this area of high pressure,

0:03:09 > 0:03:10Scotland may start to tap into

0:03:10 > 0:03:13something a little bit colder.

0:03:13 > 0:03:14So, as we go into next weekend,

0:03:14 > 0:03:17we'll see sunny spells, heavy showers too,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19a continuation of that unsettled theme.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22Mild for many, but just a chance that things across Scotland

0:03:22 > 0:03:24could turn a little bit colder.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26That's all for me from now,

0:03:26 > 0:03:29we'll keep you up-to-date over the next few days.
