0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello. Many of us had rain
0:00:03 > 0:00:05at times during the first part of the weekend,
0:00:05 > 0:00:08but for Sunday it is looking drier and brighter for some of us
0:00:08 > 0:00:11but there's still a chance you can get caught in a heavy downpour. Why?
0:00:11 > 0:00:14Because low pressure is close by.
0:00:14 > 0:00:16Here it is, swirling to the south-west of the British Isles.
0:00:16 > 0:00:19It will turn things very stormy into parts of Iberia
0:00:19 > 0:00:22during Sunday, some very strong winds around and heavy rain.
0:00:22 > 0:00:24For us, though, it's just showers
0:00:24 > 0:00:27and fairly breezy across parts of England and Wales,
0:00:27 > 0:00:30after some spots have some fog to begin the day.
0:00:30 > 0:00:32This is how the day plays out.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34You can see these downpours scattered about
0:00:34 > 0:00:35through England and Wales.
0:00:35 > 0:00:38The may merging in a few spots to give a longer spell of rain.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40Much of Scotland and Northern Ireland
0:00:40 > 0:00:44and indeed northern parts of England are looking dry, broken cloud
0:00:44 > 0:00:47and sunshine. Still some outbreaks of rain, though, into Shetland.
0:00:47 > 0:00:49A milder day in Scotland.
0:00:49 > 0:00:51Finally, the milder air moves in
0:00:51 > 0:00:54and temperatures into double figures just about across the board.
0:00:54 > 0:00:55Going from Sunday into Monday,
0:00:55 > 0:00:58this area of low pressure is still close by.
0:00:58 > 0:01:01It will still be the focus, particularly into England
0:01:01 > 0:01:04and Wales for either showers or some longer spells of rain
0:01:04 > 0:01:06and fairly breezy with that as well.
0:01:06 > 0:01:08Plenty of cloud around, just limited brightness.
0:01:08 > 0:01:09A lot of cloud into Scotland.
0:01:09 > 0:01:12Western parts brightening up and into Northern Ireland
0:01:12 > 0:01:14probably having the best of it on Monday with some sunny spells.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16A weak weather front moving in,
0:01:16 > 0:01:19may just produce some thicker cloud and the odd spot of rain to
0:01:19 > 0:01:21parts of north-west Scotland later in the day.
0:01:21 > 0:01:24Temperatures fairly close to average for the time of year
0:01:24 > 0:01:26but they have taken a bit of a dip in Scotland.
0:01:26 > 0:01:28Now, as we look at the picture for Tuesday,
0:01:28 > 0:01:31a little bump in the isobars a ridge of high pressure
0:01:31 > 0:01:34moving in, promising something weather on Tuesday.
0:01:34 > 0:01:35A fair amount of cloud around, mind you,
0:01:35 > 0:01:37to begin the day through eastern parts in particular.
0:01:37 > 0:01:39It could be a little bit drizzly.
0:01:39 > 0:01:42There's a chance of the odd light shower popping up here and there,
0:01:42 > 0:01:44but, on the whole, it's a quiet day on Tuesday.
0:01:44 > 0:01:47There'll be some sunny spells around, light winds
0:01:47 > 0:01:50and after temperatures may start on the chilly side,
0:01:50 > 0:01:53we get up to around 9 to 11 Celsius.
0:01:53 > 0:01:56That ridge of high pressure isn't lasting very long,
0:01:56 > 0:01:58though, because it'll be going till Wednesday.
0:01:58 > 0:02:01Low pressure is about to park itself to the south-west of the UK
0:02:01 > 0:02:04once again. Ahead of that, the breeze starts to pick up.
0:02:04 > 0:02:07It will try to push weather systems our way on through
0:02:07 > 0:02:08the remainder of the week.
0:02:08 > 0:02:12We will notice cloud, sunny spells, breezy picture
0:02:12 > 0:02:15particular in the west, towards the north-west of the UK.
0:02:15 > 0:02:16A better chance here on Wednesday
0:02:16 > 0:02:19for seeing some spells of rain moving in once again.
0:02:19 > 0:02:23Temperatures still close to average, around 9 to maybe 12 Celsius.
0:02:23 > 0:02:25Thursday, very little change. That low pressure still there.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27It's still quite breezy across the UK.
0:02:27 > 0:02:30It's still trying to feed in weather systems.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32We may just see any area of cloud
0:02:32 > 0:02:34and rain try to push its way north-eastwards.
0:02:34 > 0:02:36Some uncertainty about that.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38Why is this area of low pressure not just going for it
0:02:38 > 0:02:41and pushing some wet weather right across us?
0:02:41 > 0:02:42Well, the answer, really,
0:02:42 > 0:02:45is we look at the big picture for Friday into Saturday.
0:02:45 > 0:02:48Here's that area of low pressure, but it's coming up against a block
0:02:48 > 0:02:51in the atmosphere and that is this area of high pressure in Scandinavia
0:02:51 > 0:02:54and around that, some cold air circulating, once again,
0:02:54 > 0:02:57towards the UK. It's a familiar picture.
0:02:57 > 0:03:00We had this not to long ago - it was called the Beast from the East.
0:03:00 > 0:03:04Now, we're not saying that is coming in next weekend, but the models
0:03:04 > 0:03:07are indicating that something colder may be coming in,
0:03:07 > 0:03:10but there's a big question mark about how cold that will be.
0:03:10 > 0:03:13There could be an issue, though, with the wind chill
0:03:13 > 0:03:14as the wind starts to pick up,
0:03:14 > 0:03:16but, depending on how cold it gets next weekend,
0:03:16 > 0:03:18if this picture stays the same,
0:03:18 > 0:03:20that brings uncertainty about wet weather and about
0:03:20 > 0:03:24whether any of that wet weather will fall in the form of snow.
0:03:24 > 0:03:26Things are looking very interesting next weekend and, of course,
0:03:26 > 0:03:28this is the place to keep you updated.
