0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. Just when you thought it was safe to go out,

0:00:04 > 0:00:06the beast may be back.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09I'm going to take you back to last weekend where the temperature

0:00:09 > 0:00:15reached just over 15 degrees and it felt more like spring had sprung.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17This weekend, move things forward,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20the maximum temperature may be five degrees.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22It will feel a bit more like winter.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24At the moment, though,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26we are seeing the back of the rain that we had on Monday.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28That area of low pressure pulling away.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31A little bump of high-pressure before we get some weather fronts

0:00:31 > 0:00:33later in the week.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35So Tuesday may well be the best day of the week.

0:00:35 > 0:00:36Light winds, some sunshine,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38particularly across Northern Ireland,

0:00:38 > 0:00:41developing in Western Scotland, Wales, the western side of England.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43There's going to be more cloud further east.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45You may get a shower out of it.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47But most places will be dry and even eastern areas,

0:00:47 > 0:00:50will brighten up with a little sunshine,

0:00:50 > 0:00:53temperatures perhaps a shade higher than they were on Monday.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56It will feel pleasant in those light winds and sunshine.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Looming out to the west, though, we have an area of low pressure.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01It is a big one. Spinning around it,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04a couple of weather fronts that will bring some bands of rain.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Some uncertainty as to the position of these rain bands

0:01:07 > 0:01:10and how quickly they will drive up from the south-west.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13But many western areas will see some rain at times

0:01:13 > 0:01:15and here around the coast,

0:01:15 > 0:01:17we will have gale-force winds.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19It will be a windy day on Wednesday

0:01:19 > 0:01:21but for many central and eastern areas, probably dry.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Get some sunshine in the south-east,

0:01:23 > 0:01:2515 degrees.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28That is going to be the warmest day of this week.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30That area of low pressure is still there.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33These weather fronts slowly pushing their way northwards

0:01:33 > 0:01:34and eastwards across the UK

0:01:34 > 0:01:35away from the south-west,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37perhaps away from Northern Ireland

0:01:37 > 0:01:39into Scotland, across Wales,

0:01:39 > 0:01:40towards the south-east of England

0:01:40 > 0:01:41maybe later in the day.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45Again, some uncertainty as to how far this rain is going to get

0:01:45 > 0:01:47because everything is moving quite slowly.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Further north and east, it may well be dry,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52temperatures perhaps 10, 11 degrees

0:01:52 > 0:01:54at the very best.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56But the signs are that it's Starting to get a bit colder.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Whilst we've got that low pressure

0:01:58 > 0:02:00and we've got that weather front which sort of stops

0:02:00 > 0:02:03and starts to come back again, it's running into high-pressure

0:02:03 > 0:02:06that is going to be a dominant feature as we head into the outlook.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08So we have got some wetter weather maybe coming back into

0:02:08 > 0:02:10Northern Ireland, southern parts

0:02:10 > 0:02:11of England, Wales, the Midlands.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13There'll be some heavy showers.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15At least there those temperatures won't be too bad.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17Look what happens to the north of that rain belt.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20We're getting into some colder air, temperatures dropping

0:02:20 > 0:02:24and we are getting some snow falling, especially across Scotland.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27Then that colder air sweeps down across the whole of the country

0:02:27 > 0:02:29and we will see some snow showers.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33More especially on the eastern side of the UK and that is

0:02:33 > 0:02:36because we will have an easterly wind developing across-the-board.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38So temperatures will be significantly lower

0:02:38 > 0:02:41at the start of the weekend.

0:02:41 > 0:02:42Snow showers Saturday, we've got

0:02:42 > 0:02:46an area of low pressure potentially close to the south on Sunday.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49That could bring some more organised, heavier snowfall.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51That looks less likely.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53What seems more likely is that high-pressure will build

0:02:53 > 0:02:54in one way or another

0:02:54 > 0:02:57and it may well actually turn a little bit drier as we head

0:02:57 > 0:02:59into the beginning of next week,

0:02:59 > 0:03:00with more of a northerly wind.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03Then if we look at the upper-level winds,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05which is the jet stream, of course,

0:03:05 > 0:03:06it has been a long way south,

0:03:06 > 0:03:07but towards the middle of next week,

0:03:07 > 0:03:09we start to the jet stream

0:03:09 > 0:03:10moving a bit further north,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13strengthening across the Atlantic.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15But for a while, in the outlook it is going to be cold.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17Those easterly winds, there maybe northerly winds,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19there will be some snow showers around

0:03:19 > 0:03:21and then as the jet stream changes position,

0:03:21 > 0:03:24we get more of this Atlantic air coming in,

0:03:24 > 0:03:26maybe bringing some milder conditions as well.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29The Beast from the East? More the mini beast.
