0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello, again. Are we still expecting the Beast from the East?

0:00:05 > 0:00:07Well, probably, but it's going to be a mini beast -

0:00:07 > 0:00:10but a far cry from what we're seeing at the moment.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13We've got an area of low pressure spinning to the west of the UK,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15bringing some rain to western areas,

0:00:15 > 0:00:17but it's drawing up the air from Iberia,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20so, it's a milder wind that's picking up on Wednesday.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22It will be a breezy day, some gales, actually,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24around some of these western hills and coasts,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27where we're going to find some outbreaks of rain coming in, too.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30For many central and eastern areas, though, it'll stay dry,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33and there will still be some sunshine, albeit a little bit hazy -

0:00:33 > 0:00:37but those temperatures could get as high as 14 or even 15 degrees.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40That's the peak of any warmth over the week ahead.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43These weather systems here will tend to migrate

0:00:43 > 0:00:46further north and east overnight into Thursday.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49The low pressure still stays out to the west of the UK,

0:00:49 > 0:00:52so, this is where we end up with this area of rain in the morning,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55and it will slip its way slowly northwards and eastwards

0:00:55 > 0:00:56to clear away from the south-east.

0:00:56 > 0:00:57Sunshine follows on behind,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00but there will be some heavy and thundery showers developing

0:01:00 > 0:01:02towards the south-west and into Wales.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Here, temperatures 11, maybe 12 degrees,

0:01:04 > 0:01:06but to the north of our band of rain

0:01:06 > 0:01:08across Scotland and north-east England,

0:01:08 > 0:01:09it will be a little bit chillier -

0:01:09 > 0:01:12but there's colder air still to come.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14That weather front sort of grinds to a halt, really,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16as we head towards the end of the week.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Instead, we've got high pressure dominating across Scandinavia.

0:01:19 > 0:01:20It's blocking everything off,

0:01:20 > 0:01:23so we're going to find some colder air starting to arrive

0:01:23 > 0:01:25around that area of high pressure.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27So the wet weather in Scotland and north-east England

0:01:27 > 0:01:29beginning to turn to sleet and snow.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31Still got some heavier showers further south

0:01:31 > 0:01:32across England and Wales,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35and still potentially some more rain to come in Northern Ireland.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37You can see the contrast in those temperatures -

0:01:37 > 0:01:39the numbers are dropping in the north-east.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42We're going to find that high pressure influencing our weather

0:01:42 > 0:01:44as we head into the weekend,

0:01:44 > 0:01:48drawing in some colder air from the near continent.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50The easterly wind returns

0:01:50 > 0:01:51in time for the weekend.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53It will be a strong wind,

0:01:53 > 0:01:54possibly gale force winds,

0:01:54 > 0:01:56and there will be a significant wind chill.

0:01:56 > 0:02:00It will feel much, much colder than it does at the moment,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03and we're going to find some snow showers almost anywhere -

0:02:03 > 0:02:06more, especially, down the eastern side of the UK,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08coming in further west across England and Wales,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10but largely missing Northern Ireland,

0:02:10 > 0:02:13largely missing the north-west of Scotland -

0:02:13 > 0:02:15but those temperatures struggling to make 1 or 2 degrees,

0:02:15 > 0:02:19and in the wind it will feel quite a bit colder, of course.

0:02:19 > 0:02:20Within those showers,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23we may well find a cheeky little weather front,

0:02:23 > 0:02:24an area of low pressure,

0:02:24 > 0:02:27which could organise the showers into some longer spells of snow

0:02:27 > 0:02:30across southern parts of England, the Midlands,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33perhaps into Wales overnight and into Sunday morning.

0:02:33 > 0:02:34That pushes through,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36and then the showers become fewer.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40Behind that, we've still got an easterly wind, still cold,

0:02:40 > 0:02:43still a lot colder than it should be at this time of the year.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45So, not a great weekend ahead.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48We've still got the cold air in the outlook, as well,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50but this time, instead of an easterly wind,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53we're going to find an area of high pressure

0:02:53 > 0:02:54building down from the north,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57and that brings with it more of a northerly wind,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00always strongest down the eastern side of the UK.

0:03:00 > 0:03:01Look at the upper level wind

0:03:01 > 0:03:04and we've got this undulation of the jet stream.

0:03:04 > 0:03:05Now, we talked earlier on

0:03:05 > 0:03:08about this idea that we could get milder air

0:03:08 > 0:03:10longer term into the outlook -

0:03:10 > 0:03:12that looks like it's been delayed,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15because we don't really get into that stronger jet stream just yet.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17So, instead, with high-pressure,

0:03:17 > 0:03:18it remains cold.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20There'll be some really frosty nights to come,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23but we probably won't see an awful lot of snow falling.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25It should be largely dry.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27The milder conditions, the Atlantic winds,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29hold off till the end of the week.
