0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. On Monday we saw sunshine overhead

0:00:04 > 0:00:07thawing quite a bit of the snow that fell over the weekend.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09Tuesday is the start of astronomical spring

0:00:09 > 0:00:10and for the rest of the week

0:00:10 > 0:00:11the weather will actually

0:00:11 > 0:00:13start to feel a bit more like it.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16It's turning milder across most parts of the country.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19A lot of the dry weather, but later on, rain in the west.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21Dry at the moment because high pressure is in charge,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23but notice how it shifts its position now into Tuesday.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26So instead of easterly winds, we're getting winds

0:00:26 > 0:00:28from a northerly direction across England and Wales.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31Quite a bit of cloud to begin with, but that will break up.

0:00:31 > 0:00:32Some sunny spells coming through.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35Frosty to start with across Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37but some of the sunniest weather throughout.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40We'll see more cloud pushing into the Highlands

0:00:40 > 0:00:42and Islands during the day and that's all linked

0:00:42 > 0:00:46into the change of wind direction as our high pressure gradually shifts.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49Temperatures up on what we've seen in recent days.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52That shift in wind direction continues into Tuesday evening

0:00:52 > 0:00:55and it's all down to what's happening in the Atlantic.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58The jet stream's strengthening in the western Atlantic

0:00:58 > 0:01:02and that's starting to shove things a bit further eastwards.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04And as you can see from the yellow colours,

0:01:04 > 0:01:07getting milder air closer and closer towards us.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09By Wednesday, with high pressure to the south of us,

0:01:09 > 0:01:11we're now dragging the air off the Atlantic.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14But with it will come some Atlantic weather fronts.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16They'll affect mainly Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Nothing desperately heavy, but patchy rain and drizzle.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22Sunny but frosty start across England and Wales.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26Temperatures of -5 or -6 to begin with, lifting up to 7 to 9 degrees

0:01:26 > 0:01:29with sunny spells and increasing cloud during the day.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31But just note across Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:31 > 0:01:3410, 11, maybe 12 degrees across Aberdeenshire.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36That run of Atlantic winds continues into Thursday

0:01:36 > 0:01:39with high pressure to the south, low pressure to the north.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41A ridge of high pressure for Thursday,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43so for many it will be a fine day.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Could be a bit frosty across eastern areas to begin with,

0:01:46 > 0:01:49but not quite as cold as we start the week.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Cloud increasing through the day, most places staying dry,

0:01:52 > 0:01:54but Ireland and west Scotland later on,

0:01:54 > 0:01:58rain will gradually work its way in and the breeze picks up.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00But with some sunshine, Aberdeenshire, Angus,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03down through eastern England, 12 or 13 Celsius likely.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07As we go through into the end of the week, low pressure becomes dominant.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10We'll see weak weather fronts spread across England and Wales.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13They'll not amount to much across the south.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Some heavier bursts further north.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17Then we start to see showers work their way in.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Some accompanied by rumbles of thunder, hail too.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23But with sunshine in between, starting to feel

0:02:23 > 0:02:25the effect of that strengthening March sunshine overhead.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27Double figure temperatures mostly around where

0:02:27 > 0:02:29they should be for the time of year.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31For the weekend, that low pressure still with us.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33It migrates a bit further north-eastwards

0:02:33 > 0:02:35and allows the winds to go more north-westerly.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37So there's a chance, as weather fronts

0:02:37 > 0:02:38push across Scotland on Saturday,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40some snow over the hills for the time being.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42But a lot of dry and bright weather.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46To take us into the weekend showers developing across the west.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Some heavy with hail and thunder

0:02:48 > 0:02:50and maybe a bit of snow,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52but that's limited to the tops of the hills.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Most places seeing double figure temperatures to take us

0:02:54 > 0:02:58into the weekend. That low pressure still close by as we go into Sunday.

0:02:58 > 0:02:59So sunshine and showers once again.

0:02:59 > 0:03:03A brief ridge of high pressure as we go into the start of next week.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05But next week looks like we'll see the split.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07Low pressure to the north, high pressure to the south,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10so we're still going to dominate with Atlantic winds coming in.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12Always looks like, from the computer models,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14that low pressure will be more dominant than the high.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17So it's always going to be a case of rain more likely at times

0:03:17 > 0:03:18with windy conditions.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21They'll be some sunny days as the ridge of high pressure pushes in.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23Maybe some frosty nights.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Mild overall, but there could be hints

0:03:25 > 0:03:28as we approach Easter of things turning colder.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29We'll keep you updated.
